Are we really sure that the release date is February 1st? 10 days from now and still no official press release - isn't that rather anusual?

I seem to remember the Pet Shop was only officially anounced 4 - 5 days before release. If it's not released in February, it will definitely be March.

I think Lego have done a great job with the design of this new building. My only problem is when its placed between other modulars it seems to look wrong. To me a Town Hall is a building which normally stands on its own and not crammed between other buildings. I'd be interested to know of any buildings really like this?

If I get one I might have to separate it a bit from the adjacent buildings (perhaps by adding a 32 x 8 stud paseplate on to the one provided and using the additional width to provide an alley way each side)

If I may quote myself (way back in this same thread):

Counterexample: the town halls of Bergen op Zoom, Franeker, Roermond, Sittard, Thorn, to name only a few examples from the Netherlands (thanks internet).

Thanks for the links and sorry for missing them originally (I thought I had read through thoroughly!)

This is off topic, but I searched with no luck.

Has anybody tried to build any of the retired modulars brick by brick, meaning buying the pieces from pick a brick or bricklink and be able to do it cost effectively? The only modular I don't own is Cafe Corner, and have thought about building it this way as opposed to dropping easily $700 for a used version. I have also thought about doing it with the Market also, since it is a smaller piece count, but haven't gone through the inventory to see if any pieces are from that set only to make them $$$$$. Any help or links would be much appreciated, I can't wait for the City Hall to come out to add to my "street".

Thanks for the link. I knew I would get my hand slapped for the question :cry_sad: , but I knew I would be steered in the right direction here. Carry on.

nah don't pay attention to the mini mods

any how this is a superb set and can't wait to see some of the nice details once it is in hand.

it was a joke

I don't really see how it's a joke. You could easily confuse members, especially considering there are many newer members in this thread. :sceptic:

And just as a reminder, proper grammar and punctuation is expected of all members. Thanks.

Sorry if I made it awkward and I hate to make people get all bent out of shape. But I will explain I thought Rick's post was funny the way he wrote it sounded like a "mini mod", the other member who was just simply looking for a thread sure he went off topic but it is not regular members jobs to correct them, I don't go around looking for spammers to bust them or cleaning up index that is the mods' job, I was lightening up the mood so the other member would see that we are like able and serious at the same time and we don't get all up tight when someone posts a simple question. That is all. :classic:

I get it, but Rick isn't a regular member.

Let's leave this and get back to talking about the Town Hall. :sweet:

I was just wondering. I really would like to get my hands on this as soon as it gets out. However, I am worried about the mistake in the instructions. I now, it can easily solved by oneself, but i'd rather have the good set of instructions.

Do you think LEGO would do something about this soon, with an erratum or with new instructions?

It's only a very slight mistake - so slight in fact it would take little brain power to correct. It might only affect certain sets - we saw a similar situation in the "Fire Brigade missing bag Batch 39R1" fiasco. However if there are instructions with mistakes, LEGO have no choice but to correct it before the release date; they simply cannot release a set knowing that there is an error in the instructions.

We all know very little at the moment, we'll just have to wait and see. :classic:

Plenty of sets have slipped out in the past with little mistakes in the instructions, i distinctly remember an oddity in the Endor Bunker set that suggested you had to put a four long brick on three studs (or something along those lines). Mistakes like that usually get corrected in later issues sets. More often than not it's hardly a big deal as the 'correct' positioning of something is usually obvious on the next page, even more so given how simplified the instructions tend to be these days.

Correct, I own several copies of 6394, and there is a small mistake in one of the instruction versions. As long as the small box indictaing the parts you need to build the next step in the instructions lists the right number and kind of pieces, it should be no problem figuring out which piece goes where. :sweet:

That might be a little difficult in those cases in which the sets have already been dispatched and delivered.

I am really looking forward this this new modular set. I can see some of the nods that were made to the town hall building in the town plan set from a few years back. It is nice to see a fully realized City Hall. I still can't believe how big it is compared to the other buildings. Quite the monster set. This may be jumping the gun but I am hoping for a police precinct next.

I've read this entire thread, but don't remember reading anything about a mistake in the instructions...where'd you hear that and what is it?
