K-Nut Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 I did a search for this and found nothing. In the thread, Does Kingdoms live up to Castle expectations?, I found people saying that they wanted an amazon subtheme and that gave birth to this thread. I personally want ancient Greece and Egypt. Just think of those buildings! Quote
Khorne Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Strange that you haven't found threads like this. I could've sworn there have been threads like this. I definitely remember reading the wish for Ancient Greek/Romans/Egyptians somewhere here. The idea of Amazons if kind of cool, buth I wouldn't really count them as a Castle faction/subtheme. I don't really know, but I wouldn't label anything Greek/Roman/... as Castle. They'd have to be a seperate theme, I guess, like Playmobil did in the past. As for Castle, I'd definitely would like to see more "regular" people, i.e. non-armoured, normal civilains. Maybe some merchant types or noblemen, because now we really like those. As it is now, LEGO Castle looks like a communist society, existing only out of the proletariat (especially farmer type people) and army guys. We need noblemen! For a complete faction, I'd like to see some decent Middle-Eastern type of faction. A bit like Prince of Persia, but without fleshie faces and stuff. But I don't understand it would be kind of difficult to do for LEGO, since it could be seen as LEGO trying to antagonize Middle Eastern people . Quote
Mr. Gray Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 I agree. A medieval Middle Eastern theme would be a nice change. Gives the Crusaders an official enemy. But I too see the difficulties in that. While historical, it seems like a very difficult theme to properly show without controversy. Quote
Gryphon Ink Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 I did a search for this and found nothing. In the thread, Does Kingdoms live up to Castle expectations?, I found people saying that they wanted an amazon subtheme and that gave birth to this thread. I personally want ancient Greece and Egypt. Just think of those buildings! I would love an Amazon culture, but I agree with everyone who's said it would never happen. Perhaps rightly so, since Amazons belong to the ancient realm and not the Middle Ages. My one true desire would be an Elf kingdom, but again, for a variety of reasons it's not a very likely option. In third place I'd like to see some kind of Middle Eastern faction. This would make good sense historically, but I think TLG would shy away from creating a subtheme that would probably have to look radically different from the existing Kingdom factions - different weaponry, different architecture, etc. and might not seem to the young'uns like it really belonged. So, once again, not happening. So, what subtheme would work with the current factions, be different enough but not too different, not make anybody scream "OH NOES, IT'S WOMEN!" and not veer too far into fantasy? Why, Barbarians, of course! A nice faction full of ruff'n'tuff burly men and an occasional buxom wench, all wearing woad face paint, living in crude huts and fighting with enormous swords, axes and bucklers whilst eating raw meat and riding bareback. It wouldn't be very realistic, but it would fit the Hollywood version of history okay. Quote
Jargo Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 King Arthur and the knights of the round table. There's enough confusion about where he was from for it to have pan European appeal. it fits the Lego model of a kingdom with a good and bad magical force. There's knights and foes. A couple of castles. A Maiden. And as he whole thing is a myth Lego have free rein on interpreting it. It could be argued that there's been many sub themes within Castle that fit this but none have been specifically Arthurian. Quote

Captain Becker For snake knights I use these with some Elf torsos or Dragon Knight torsos and that works pretty well. But yeah, some official ones would be cool. I would also like to see some updated classic factions like Black Falcons or Fright Knights. Edited August 25, 2011 by K-nut Quote

Ever watch King Arthur and the Knights of Justice? it's like Knight's Kingdom's II was based on that cartoon. Personally I wouldn't mind something similar to KKII with the more fantastical knights. Not necessarily fantasy like Castle 2007 with trolls, dwarves, and skeletons. But I would like to see more animal based factions. not sure why. Probably because of that cartoon lol. I hope to get lots of those KKII rainbow knights to make something like that. Quote
CMP Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 A Forestman vs Bandits subtheme. Well, in that same kind of way, as in Robin Hood-esque people going up against actual bandits. Knights and...more knights are good, but we could use some smaller factions like this. Quote
shmails Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 We need more thieves, bandits, and peasants. However that does not make a very exciting theme, so how about a Muskateer theme? I know it is near the end of the castle period (or even a bit past), but it would allow for thieves and peasants and more of the cool muskateer figs and accessories. I also would love a Robin Hood type theme, back to forestmen is never a bad thing! Quote
blackpyre Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Since slapping a new crest on some knights seem a bit dry to me, I'd probably suggest a merchant's guild line or a Scottish Highlander theme. I think a Brave Heart feel would give a good story line while providing lots of cool parts. That's assuming the LEGO universe has a Scottland like place in it. I don't see why not. Will Quote
AwesomeStar Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 I'd certainly like to see a much more realistic take on the Vikings than Lego's previous line. That or a theme based on Celtic Britain, with Highlanders, Picts, Saxons, Welsh etc. Those two areas are my favourite in histoy, so seeing them in Lego would be great! -A.S. Quote
hanzocloud Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 3 kingdoms theme based on China's 3 kingdoms period (220 AD) would be nice. Then they can have 3 factions in the theme. Also a Roman empire theme would be nice... with big rectangle shields to make the "turtle" formation. Quote
PirateMatt Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 I would like to see Ancient Egypt, alive army would be great, I'm sick of all those mummies. Quote
Magnus the Great Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 In the current Castle theme I want a peasant uprising, a clan faction like scottish highlanders or maybe barbarians like vikings. Other themes I want in the future: Sparta vs Athen Rome vs Carthage Saracens Persians Quote
kabel Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 A true Hanse Cog would be really cool. Transferring pirates and merchants from the Carribean to the Baltic Sea would be great for those of us that like both Pirates and Castle! Quote
nindja10 Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 (edited) i would like to see some thieves,highlanders,forestmen...but for faction maybe crusaders, elves or black falcons return would be ok for me Edited September 2, 2011 by nindja10 Quote
Piranha Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Would love to see these Forestmen Nobles Black Falcons Vikings Crusaders Highlanders/barbarians Civilians/peasants Quote
Captain Bayonet Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 Elves. That is all I ask for from TLG, is an Elven faction with a Rivendale-like castle. I would buy up the entire line without a second thought if it was ever to happen. ~Bayonet Quote
Hoboman Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 Elves. I want to second this. I would love to see a true Elven faction. I would also like to see a faction that looked like the Cossacks. Lastly, I would like to see some more peasants. Quote
Saxon Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 (edited) I would like to see following themes: -Aztecs and Conquistadores -Romans, Spartans, Greek, Persians... or other antique factions -New vikings -Mongol-style theme, that would be pretty awesome! -And it would be very cool if make theme with snow, sets where knights with in snow :D Edited September 20, 2011 by Saxon Quote
The Blue Brick Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 (edited) I would like to see forestmen and peasants vs. bandits. That would be cool. Edited September 2, 2011 by The Blue Brick Quote
LEGOMAN132 Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 Iam not much of a castle fan though I did like the Troll faction. For Kingdoms the Mill Village Raid is very nice for civilians I would like to see a bandit faction like Wolfpack again. Quote
Ogre Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 (edited) I thought I read that too, but I couldn't find it. I know I posted a topic previously about something along the lines of "what historical themes would you like LEGO to produce?" or some such thing, but it wasn't specifically meant as a 'castle subtheme'. As for what themes I would like to see: well, I'm already in favour of a lot that have been mentioned but, I think that what I'd REALLY like to see most of all, is a more expanded vision of whatever castle sub-theme comes along (or if Kingdoms is continued)...something that has more civilian sets, so a proper medieval village can be fleshed out with civilians OTHER THAN blacksmiths. Having a nice selection of peasants, merchants, minor nobility, etc., would be quite awesome, IMO. I'd also like to see a return to the older style of battlepacks that had a mix of soldiers and peasants, or at the very least, have a selection of battle packs to choose from...one of each major 'faction' and one or two of civilians with accessories such as the hoods, pitchforks, panniers and maybe a goat and some chickens to fill it out...and put them back in cardboard boxes, instead of blister packs, to cut down on the COST of them!
