Shakar Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 I have a normal chrome gold king crown whose chrome isn't in good condition. I can't see how to use it, so I'd like to know: what's under the gold chrome? Shakar Quote
natelite Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 i think it is trans-clear. but to be certain you can take a close look at any chipped section of the helmet. what lies under it should be clear to you what color it is. Quote
oo7 Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 Yes, the greatswords are trans-clear when the paint chips away, but I'm not sure about the crown. Quote
ApophisV Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 I am not sure about the crown, but some of my lightsaber hilts are made from a greyish plastic. Quote
El Bucanero Posted August 23, 2006 Posted August 23, 2006 One of my gold crowns changed to normal silver chrome, I think theres silver chrome under the gold layer, and trans clear under the silver.... Mr Tiber Quote
Shakar Posted August 24, 2006 Author Posted August 24, 2006 Silver chrome crown? That's rather interesting. I did see a silver-greyish colour in the parts of the crown where gold has been removed. Anyone tried to remove the gold before? Shakar Quote
Unknown Artist Posted August 24, 2006 Posted August 24, 2006 Anyone tried to remove the gold before? Happened to mine automatically after 10 years' handling... ;-) Quote
Shakar Posted August 25, 2006 Author Posted August 25, 2006 I removed all the chrome on the nose protector and I got trans clear....sweet. *sweet* Unknown Artist, would you be able to post a pic? That would be very much appreciated. :-) Shakar Quote
Unknown Artist Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 I am moving to a new apartment, you see, so I have most of my stuff packed away. I hope to un-pack everything till the middle of the next week - will try to take some pics for you. Hope you aren't in a hurry... X-D It's pretty much trans-clear, as you said, but I have some other gold items which became closer to silver in the past couple of years. Quote
Shakar Posted August 26, 2006 Author Posted August 26, 2006 Don't worry, I can wait. Move soon in that damn apartment, slave! Shakar Quote
Unknown Artist Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 Glad the time isn't pressing. You'll wait - unless you buy me a brand new villa at Beverly Hills with swimming pool, sauna and a Ferrarri in the garage! Do it or be damned forever! :-P Quote
Lamanda2 Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 Underneath the chrome of the helmets is a perfect translucent crown, ..it actually looks like glass, I found out after reading a topic entitled 'Glass Armor?' in Classic-Castle's castle customs forum, I was curious if the crowns would become as clear as tthe armor, so a scrubbed at one with my Brasso for a bit, the only real downfall is that I could not properly get all of the chrome out from the inside of the crown. If anybody was curious of what the clear armor looks like you can see it in the original post in the Glass Armor topic <here> Quote
Jipay Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 Thanks a lot for the link ! Those armors look really cool. I might give a go to such an experiment soon. Did you checked your assumption of the sparkled armor plastic to be black ? Or is it still a guess. I'd just love to see some transparrent knight 8-| Quote
xwingyoda Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 I thought that TLC managed a way to get the entire plastic "sparkled" (like they can have a mix of two colours on the same part - like the big rocks in light bluish grey and trans clear orange, or the Exo robots...). I would think that the sparkle material is injected within the plastic but I might be wrong ;-) Anyhow those "glass" armors really look nice ;-) *yoda* Quote
Athos Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 What's under the chrome? You must be at least 18 to see... X-D Steve Quote

Shakar Posted August 28, 2006 Author Posted August 28, 2006 What's under the chrome? You must be at least 18 to see... X-D Steve X-D Here's a confirmation that crowns are transparent: this is very cool, If anyone ever wanted to build a cool lear novelty knight I just discovered last night that this also applies to crowns, though it is extremely hard to get the chrome off the inside of the crown, any suggestions? The One who must be at least 18 to see what's under the chrome Quote
