technicmad Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 (edited) Thought I'd start a thread for my new site Rebrickable. It has been discussed in the Technic sub-forum lately but I realise it probably hasn't reached anyone else. The site has a growing database of official sets and MOCs (all of which have building instructions), and it will tell you which sets you can build using your existing sets, or what parts you are missing if you dont have them all. So far I have 23 MOCs in Technic and Star Wars theme and have a long list of others still to be added. You can see a summary of the MOCs here. Check it out, I'm keen to hear about any problems or suggestions for improvement Edited August 28, 2011 by technicmad Quote
Siegfried Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 ...this should be in Community, not Star Wars. Quote

Siegfried Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Ahh that will make things easier, thanks :D I gave it a quick look; it's a cool site. I'll be keeping my eye on it to see how it goes. Quote
Ceroknight Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 This is a very helpful site! I really like it. However it seems that the site does not have all the sets listed yet (ie, Tower Bridge and Titanium Command Rig) Quote

Fallenangel Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Looks good! Are the instructions only added by the MOCer, though? Because I'm pretty sure Legostein and Reto, among others, provide instructions for many of their MOCs. Quote

As you've probably noticed, I have mainly technic MOCs so far but am now adding Star Wars and a few other generic ones. I have a looong list of designers/MOCs to get through but am determined to add as many as I can find! I'm not familiar with those two names, but will check them out thanks. I guess I should ask any designers with building instructions (pdf or photo sequences are fine) that want their MOCs featured on my site to let me know :) Quote
Trent Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 I really like your site and I've found it useful. It looks like you've got a big task ahead of you adding all of the sets, but once you have done, I know I'll find it even more useful! Great work, and thanks for sharing it with us. Quote
Trent Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 I was having a quick look at this last night. When you find a set you want to build and it says, for instance, you have 98% of the parts...does the site let you know anywhere which sets you have the parts in? e.g. 17 pieces from 6214 (list of pieces), 41 pieces from 7291 (list of pieces) etc. Or is it a case of, 'You have these somewhere in your collection, they could be anywhere, get digging?' I got quite excited seeing what I *could* build but I don't want to take apart some of my models (and/or, I don't mind taking apart some of my models if I knew which ones I had to break down...but I wouldn't want to take apart Tower Bridge for 6 bricks, for instance - so if I had a way of knowing which bricks were required from which set, that would be really useful). Piranha Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 This is a pretty neat site, it would be neat if there was an advanced import option where one could import every LEGO set in their collection and see how many different sets you could make. The max 6 set feature is great though. Quote

At the moment it only tells you which parts are missing, not which sets you can get them from. I will definitely be adding that capability soon though :) This is a pretty neat site, it would be neat if there was an advanced import option where one could import every LEGO set in their collection and see how many different sets you could make. The max 6 set feature is great though. After you sign up you can import your entire collection, the max 6 sets is only for unregistered users. However, it can't show you everything you can make by using all your parts at the same time. It just shows you single sets/mocs you can make with the parts, then you need to pull it apart to make the next one it suggests. It's an interesting idea though, I'll add it to the list of things to investigate :) Quote
