Hi guys,i'm new in the forum but my lego technic collection is huge..from the bulldozer to my just built unimog etc...but dust is a big problem...as some parts are electrical...what is your behaviour in frony of this problem?

I try to keep everything in sealed boxes - and when I'm not there for more than a few days I cover up the rest with a blanket.

What you need to do is find a place to live that has either no gravity, no atmosphere, or both. That will totally take care of the problem. Otherwise your only options are to keep them put away or clean them periodically.

Just clean them periodically (once per 2 months or so). I use a soft paint brush (unused ofcourse :D) to wipe the dust off the models, and a vacuumcleaner with a soft brush attachment. Keeps the models like new.

A soft brush and one of those dust collecting cloths works quite well. The bush gets into the nooks and crannies, while the cloth cleans most of the surface.

thanks for the tips...my collection is at the top of a big shelf...is it good or it's better to put this at floor level?

however a soft unused paint brush should work well..i'll give a try later in the day...Thanks :D

You could also keep the models in a bookshelf. You'd then just want to mill a small channel on the bottom shelf for a piece of glass to slot into, and voila - Display with a very minimal amount of dust. Cheap, too.

I once read that dust is mostly made up of dead skin cells, so I store my finished models where there aren't any people! They're on a shelf set at my parent's house in a room no one goes in anymore.

Sadly, my magnificent plan did not work, and after blowing everything off with canned air, I now keep a sheet over the shelf set. When I get some more space of my own, I'm sure I'll have to figure something else out.

i have to try compressed air...you can find this at any bookshop or computer shop as it is used to remove dust from mechanical computer hardware...

i'll give it a try later in the day...
