Lobot Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Thanks for the pictures & link spacepilot3000. I’m counting down the days until I can order this, and they’re really long days at the moment! Is that a UCS Falcon in your Avatar? If so, please can you post a larger picture? I’d really like to see the display that you’ve made for it. Quote
Gokey Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 (edited) Double VIP points in October according to the Lego calender, So I'm going to wait till then! Free shipping now is nice but I don't have the money yet so it works out alright lol. Edited September 7, 2011 by Gokey Quote
spacepilot3000 Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Lobot, a little bit offtopic here, but who cares I hope it is ok for everybody?! Have a look at that: That is version 1 of the falcon display from 2009 (Full story and more pics:blog post) and this ist version 2, I am actually workin on - the DS Hangar(Full story and more pics: actual blogpost hangar part3): Sorry, my full stories on my blog all are made in germlish language. I think I have to change that in future... But i will post the full story of the new hangar here, when this monster is done. Spacepilot3000 Quote
Brickdoctor Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 At the risk of dragging this thread further off-topic, that looks incredible so far, spacepilot. To stay on topic, I finally saw this set in-person a couple days ago, and it's definitely the kind of set that looks better in person than in pictures. If you know what to look for, though, (and even if you don't but know what an SSD should look like in the middle) that bridge section does stick out a bit much. Quote
Gokey Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Yeah I've learned Lego sets are always bigger in person then in pictures. Quote
Wayne Dupree Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Hey everyone. I got mine and built it about a week ago, it took me about 7 and a half hours to build over three nights (should have taken off work and barred the kids out of the room ). I just got all the pictures up on my site, so check them out if you want. Very great set and although I'd have to agree that it's overpriced - I've been waiting for for so long I don't care http://www.bastcastle.com/Holocrons/PhotoIndex.aspx?id=BuildingSSD Here's a sample: Quote

adello25 Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 I cannot wait to get this set!! When it was first announced I was iffy because it really is just a bunch of LBG plates together, but from all the many pictures I have seen, it looks amazing and very detailed. I missed out on the 10030- ISD due to me being in the dark ages, but I will not miss out on this set! Quote

Brickus Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 (edited) I just received mine, it looks great next to my other UCS sets. One question though, how come it does not list China as a country of origin when it includes Bossk's head in plastic baggie, and Darth Vader's cape in box, when they are pieces that come from the Chinese factory? This is not a quality related question, I was just curious. Edited September 14, 2011 by Brickus Quote
hockeyboy89 Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 (edited) Man I was close to getting this today after seeing it built in the Lego store, but passed for the AT-OT for the kids to enjoy. When they get a bit older and can appreciate it as a display piece, it's on! Edited September 14, 2011 by hockeyboy89 Quote

Maybe BossK's head wasn't produced in the Chinese facility, there has never been anything other than pure speculation to suggest which pieces are or are not produced in China. Quote
Anio Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 The instruction is available on the Lego website. Quote
dr jones Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Yeah, I want my hat back!! Really nice review, sadly I really don't have the money to buy this, even though I prefer the Falcon. (UCS one) Quote
qvack Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Thanks for the reviews guys, looks like this is another one to add to my list :) Quote
b4p Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 (edited) I watched Empire last night and this ship appears often. In the version of the movie i watched, the ship appeared darker colored, and had a TON of blue in it. The ISD had lots of white lights too. Any modders out there adding some blue greebles? That's the first mod i'm going to do when i get this set. I think the SSD should possibly be dark bley with bright blue greebles references: Edited November 13, 2011 by b4p Quote
mavriel Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Does anyone know what color the 'tooth' piece from Dengar's backpack is? Some pictures make it look dark bluish gray, which others some pearl gray color? Quote

legolandia Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 It's a beautiful set that I intend to get for display purposes as well as for the minifigures. I believe Lego should have included a lot of translucent blue pieces in this set in order to simulate the lights on the ship. On a set this big and especially this flat introduction of a second color would have broken down a bit its monotonous appearance. That would have definitely made this set worth every one of its price's pennies. @dcflake: would it kindly be possible for you to measure the width and height of this set whilst on its stand please? I'm trying to find out how high and deep the displaying cabinet would need to be. I'm definitely buying this set, however I think I will wait to see if it goes on offer first or get it for cheaper from ebay. Does anyone know if Lego historically tends to put offers on in the period after Christmas (January time)? Quote
Andonii Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 (edited) Nice review. I like the slight commentary, and I completely agree. Boba should be in this set! Edited November 19, 2011 by Andonii Quote
legobobsse Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 no its not dark bluisch grey its pearl grey when you have the setyou can see that its another collour than the dark bluisch grey Quote

legolandia Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 What's the point of this post? I was wondering the same. And the person has posted on several threads the same thing. Increasing the post count I suppose Quote
