I agree with those saying the selection is strange. This line needed more generic redcoats and pirates, not another Jack plus the 2 most common "zombie" pirates :pir-sceptic:

Is it really just me? The packaging looks real, but not having heard a PEEP about this before, and not seeing it ANYWHERE else, I have to assume it's a hoax. I can't believe TLG would release such a stupid BP.

I have a gut feeling this is real but I really hope it's a hoax because this battle pack sucks. Buying captains cabin is way better than this battle pack the only good thing is its a cheaper way to get the redcoat officer that's it. If this is real I hope they release another battle pack with some of the cast that they haven't released yet or more redcoats. TLG could make a fortune selling redcoat battle packs.(hint to TLG)

To me this its more of a figure pack. We are so used to the term "battle pack" because LEGO usually gives us small sets that are minifig heavy. I view this more like a magnet set our collectors set. I'll be getting one and nit opening out, since I already have all of the figs.

Holy shiz! Skrum! Half the reason I wanted Whitecap Bay! And the chief Redcoat too...good god, this is the first I really need a non Star Wars battlepack. Hope it comes out here...

Until I see this on sale at LEGO.com, I'm not buying it's existence.... I don't recall any mention of this set anywhere; this it literally the first I've heard of it. Google searches all point back to this post...

Like Big Cam says, it looks legitimate... but it simply makes no sense and was never mentioned before... when was the last time a set made it ALL THE WAY to release without us knowing about it? Even TLG advertises stuff before it comes out!

This happens all the time with blister packs. Plus, it looks pretty much identical (besides the POTC theming) to the Alien Conquest pack.

It does.. if it's hoax, it's a very good one, I admit.

I just don't see how a set makes it all the way to being released, and the ONLY reference on the net (ALL day now!) is a link to THIS thread.

Moreover, as a "battle pack" (I know there is debate about whether it's supposed to be a "battle" pack or not), it makes NO sense, unlike the alien conquest pack with generic aliens.... so, I suppose, even if it's the real deal, I have to wonder what the hell they were thinking.

EDIT: The OP is YESTERDAY at 10:00am my time (Eastern US) and this thread is STILL the only reference on the net?

Well, I suppose discovery are to be verified. I will leave that to TLG or someone more reputable than I am in this forum. I brought these packs from a legitimate LEGO store and shared what I have found for a few reasons - strange selection of minifigs, weird pricing, and of course there is no global news about anything like that prior to my sharing. I am even wondering if we can find these inside the collector guide that was just recently released.

Er, not the only one.....

Brickset link

But no pictures there.

I saw that... brickset and, I think, peeron, too... but they are brand new and, I think, added because of this thread. If you look at the "info" tab on brickset, it's dated today.

There's just no "credible" sources... just this thread.

I'm not saying it's not true, I'm saying, IMO, I won't believe it until I see more evidence. The sad thing is if it is true, it's a terrible "pack," so it sucks either way.

Edit: No, not peeron... some other blog. They all link back to here.

Edit 2: in response to chongcheng, I'm not calling you a liar, I'm questioning the legitimacy of these sets. It would be nice to see White Fang add a reply, if he can find these. I guess I'm actually more worried these are "real," because it's such a bad pack, IMO.

I don't see what's so bad about it. I think if this is real, a lot of kids will buy this.

For example: my nephew is really into Lego right now, but mostly for the minifigs. He got the slave 1 and the temple of doom, and those sets were never even build. He just took the figs and played with them.

What I'm trying to show with this is that now the kids can buy the figs and have fun with them without the parents having to spend a lot of money on a set which the kids will never play wit

And for that purpose, this pack is pretty good, it has three opposing factors which you can invent different story lines with.

I'm not a kid... so IMO, this is a terrible battle pack. It's certainly pointless to buy more than one.

Fred, I haven't seen the pack with my own eyes yet, but it's a fact that including chongcheng and some other AFOLs who I have interacted with, actually bought this battlepack. I hope to pick up one soon too and I believe this is one of the rare occasions that Singapore got something new and exclusive. As quoted by chongcheng, this item is also carried by one of the leading LEGO exclusive retailers in Singapore which in return only get their stocks inventory from LEGO Singapore. It will be a violation if those shops sell hoax LEGO items. I am also one of the frequent shoppers too, but I need to get my time organised, to go down to town to buy one.

I actually would have preferred this be a hoax than for TLG to release such a dumb battle pack (yes, it's just my opinion, don't get all bent out of shape).

I agree whit Big Cam at this is more like of a minifigure collection pack instead of Battle pack. I dont even need so much zombies and pirates, the only goodie for me on this "Set" Or whatever you want to call it, is that Redcoat officer, you gotta love him. :pir-wub:

Captain Becker

That looks awesome, Can you do a review on it or do you have to wait until it's officially released? :pir-classic:

Why do we need a review we can tell what they're like from here :pir-tongue:

However I do need you to clarify if this is chinese plastic or not?, because that plastic REALLY annoys me!

:jollyroger:

A review is a little unnecessary but would be welcomed, comparing them to their big set counterparts and verifying the plastic type, chinese or other.

This is interesting. All it would have taken was one unique minifigure or significant variation for me to buy this product. As it is, I'll have to pass.

I'm going to hazard a guess that these are produced in China at the same place the CMFs are allegedly made. Most of the other "battlepack" products are made in China, yes? (Not bagging on China; I just have an interest in how Lego is made and marketed.)

I'm not a kid... so IMO, this is a terrible battle pack. It's certainly pointless to buy more than one.

Indeed, it's stupid to buy more than one, but that isn't the point of this so called 'battlepack'. I think, if Lego releases this officialy, it won't even get the name battlepack.

Regarding whats included in the set, it looks good!

Sorry but the selection is horrible. Why not faction-based packs like was done in the castle line. One pirate pack, one redcoats pack and one "cannibal" pack? And including Sparrow? How many of him do we bloody need?

This is a fail.

I agree.

:roflmao: Yes very true.

Maybe this thread should be renamed... as a 'battle pack' this set is a complete failure, but there is nothing on the packaging to suggest that this actually is a 'battle pack'.

It's more of a 'character collection'. Even then it's a failure, because it only has one notable character from the films... two if you're being generous and include Scrum... but still a more accurate description.

Actually... I don't know. What is the purpose of this set, exactly?
