The minimog and the crawler crane appears to have the old triangle part.

Edit: Oh.. you said that the new triangle parts were from the minimog, but at least the yellow ones on the crane are the old type(?)

I noticed that too. Don't you think that's kind of weird?

Hi,

Nothing new in this post, beside my opinion that none of these 2012 models makes me want to go out and buy them.

Beside being cute, small, not expensive, they are much of the same we had previously with little to nothing new in them.

Not sure why 1st half of 2012 looks so ... boring ... is it a cycle? :)

Thanks,

Noam

Europe is in a recession, and Lego Technic sets are most popular in Germany. It could be that TLG does not want to produce elaborate, expensive sets at this time of economic difficulty. The best Technic sets of the year come out in the 2nd Half, anyway....

I totally agree and I'd love to see more big sets every year :)

Look at the mini mog it's so boring it's not even funny.

It's ok to say that the sets are better or worse (personally I think this looks rather good), but to complain about the size of the sets is just ridiculous. Most people have a budget. Besides I doubt any 1H wave has ever had such a high average piece count, so no sign of recession in that way.

I have a curious question - is the arbitrary red studded beam that the crane lifts, the only piece of 'traditional' beam (excluding Brick 1 x 2 with holes) in the first half releases?

I like the looks of the plane (yes, except the front), but the price has to be good for me to buy it.

Like the functionality though.

That pick-up truck... i dunno. That motor placement reminds me of old technic sets, where it is more like an extra.

But i like to point out that it is nice that not every single set comes with a battery box and a m-motor, raising its price.

I've found the new triangles also on 9395 (DBG), and recent boxes of 8070 (Black).

Hm, sorry, I posted before saw your post on TechnicBRICKS.

So Lego starts to change gradually the Technic triangle, like they made for the new 16t gears.

It very well designed and has stunning looks!

The functions all have been done before but the the operating switch in the cabine is a very nice touch.

Highly playable and lots of parts.

Building the set is great up to the point when the chassis is finished.

From that point it was like "running home" to me....

The telephone number of "Fred's Garage" is nice little joke...

- Where/how did you get the set?

- Price?

- You have other sets from 2012?

- Is it worth getting?

- I saw the motor fitting in a picture, is it really attached on the rear?

I'm not "nieuwsgierig" or anything

Edit: can you do a review of the whole set? in it's own topic? You can answer my questions in that. This topic isnt clean anymore...)

Got the set for €69,95 at a warehouse (V&D) in the Netherlands. (But had a few coupons so I payed a lot less...)

There are a lot of webstores who will sell you the set for a lesser amount. That is worth the wait because at €49,05 or less it is totally worth the money.

The motor is placed directly on the rear of the vehicle so that's a bit of a setback.

As you can see I got me already the minimog and the plane and quad will arrive soon....
