grohl Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Here is my modification of 9394. This is my first time I tried to improve an official set, so be kind to me. Quote
andythenorth Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 The logging truck looks to empty. ? The exposed engine? Or something else? http://www.hankstruckpictures.com/pix/trucks/hank_rabe/2005/nov07/07.jpg Quote
dhc6twinotter Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Looks great Grohl. The larger wheels are much better. Quote
olaf9198 Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 (edited) Looks really good for your first time Grohl Edited December 30, 2011 by olaf9198 Quote
sama Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 ? The exposed engine? Or something else? http://www.hankstruckpictures.com/pix/trucks/hank_rabe/2005/nov07/07.jpg The engine cover and the rear part of the chassis. But still, I could easily fix those problems. 8285 did not have any problems like 9397, even though it isn't very dense (considering it had 1877 parts), the covers covered up the empty areas. Quote
DLuders Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 (edited) Conchas has completed his TechnicBRICKS TechReview of the Lego Technic 9395 Pick-Up Tow Truck set. It also discusses the newly-molded Technic Triangle and Technic Engine Cylinder parts. Edited January 1, 2012 by DLuders Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 (edited) Man, i see what some of you are saying about that M motor hanging out the back ,the lego designers must of had a 'off day'. Edited January 1, 2012 by Alasdair Ryan Quote

Kronos Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Oddly, my copy has the new engine cylinders but NOT the new triangles. I still don't have any of those. Mine was the same way.?? I was surprised when people said the new triangles were in theirs. I actually checked my parts bin to make sure! Oh well, maybe the next one I buy will have the new triangles. Quote
Smrgol Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Man, i see what some of you are saying about that M motor hanging out the back ,the lego designers must of had a 'off day'. It looks like its trying to give birth to me Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 It looks like its trying to give birth to me I really don't know what they were thinking. Quote
Shasat Spacerider Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 I really don't know what they were thinking. I think the motorization was a last minute idea. They were probably thinking: "Hey, why not motorize this truck so that the people buy the PF set too!" "Hey, that's a good idea! But wait a minute, this truck is soo crowded that we have no idea where to put the M motor!" "Aw, just stick it on its rear and be done with it." It's probably not what really happened, but I can't help but wonder: do the gods at Billund sometimes just BS things because they are lazy? I have nothing against them, (otherwise I wouln't be calling them 'gods'), but this motor placement thing just makes me sad. Quote

zewy623 Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Hey tim, not all interns are bad. I could possibly be an intern in a few years, though very unlikely and improbable, but I would make much better motor placement, given time to experiment. Quote
AVCampos Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 given time to experiment. I'd say that's probably what happened: for some reason they were short on time and had to make one of the 2012 sets motorisable, so this was the best compromise they could take. Quote
zewy623 Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 @AVCampos If thats it, then why didn't we have a motorizable set for 2011? Quote
Wiseman_2 Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 I think it's most likely they just needed a set that the motor pack could be used with, as there isn't another one out there at the moment in all markets. I'm pretty sure the motor could have been fitted better inside the model, but I suspect it would have taken too much taking apart to fit it. Quote
AVCampos Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 I don't know, I don't work at TLG... Maybe there was more pressure to release a motorisable model this year exactly because there was none last year? Quote
sama Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 The 1h technic sets are on the Lego Technic website, plus they changed it up a little. Come and check it out. Quote
davidmull Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 I wonder when will the log loader be on sale! Quote
Totenkopf Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Could this be a picture of the logging truck 9397 B-model? See link to this german store @ http://www.playstore24.net/LEGO/Technic/LEGO-9397-Holztransporter/?showproduct&id=68858574 Quote
