BillytheKid Posted December 28, 2008 Author Posted December 28, 2008 Time for an update. I've ordered pieces for the vestasset 4999 and here you can see where it will be placed. The mill is going to be controled with a 9v trainspeedregulator. And here you can see the whole controlpanel: And here is the place where I start most of the times my creations: Quote
djo Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 i have questions. i wonder, are there any dust or hair or fur on your attic for the layout or you clean them regularly? is it your attic a closed place? can't wait to see the windmill to stand there. keep the great work man. Quote
BillytheKid Posted December 28, 2008 Author Posted December 28, 2008 I use a paintbrush and sometimes a vacuumcleaner. I don't clean it regularly. It's a closed area yes. Quote
Jvvv Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 Wow - what a layout! I understand that it is very hard to hide those cables, so I think those electric poles is a very good idea to manage the wires. And I would love to see more photos of your building inspector doing his work. <3 Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Wow, your control panel is insane! I really like the way this is developing, the high tension poles are a great idea and i also like the looks of that yellow NS train in the shelf! It appears your cat has found it's own spaces within the layout, wich must have been a pain to learn him/her? I can't help but wonder why you have not build it on a table, off the floor? That would work better against dust, hairs and what not i assume. Anyways, keep it up! Quote
General Armendariz Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 WOW! thats a lot of trains! Quote
Col. Brik Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Amazing layout, well done. Curious if you plan to have the layout have baseplates in the future or is it to hard to do with that many different trains and electric lines running aorund? Quote
BillytheKid Posted December 29, 2008 Author Posted December 29, 2008 Wow, your control panel is insane! I was looking it yesterday and I thought that I would never had that kind of controlpanel. Yes it's insane and I like it . First I need to connect everything before I make it bigger......... yellow NS train in the shelf! That a DH-2 model, better know as 'De Wadloper'. It's mainly used in the north of Holland. The coast of north of Holland is called: 'De Wadden'. This year the train is replaced by a newer train. It has properly done service for around 20 years. It appears your cat has found it's own spaces within the layout, wich must have been a pain to learn him/her?Aslong you don't scare the cat, nothing will happen, that was also something new. As reward she my buildinginspector .I can't help but wonder why you have not build it on a table, off the floor? That would work better against dust, hairs and what not i assume. It's a closed attic. I have walls form a roof, like this /\, that way I loose space to place the layout if I use a table. If I had walls like this | | , then it would not be a problem. With the dust it's not a great problem..........Curious if you plan to have the layout have baseplates in the future or is it to hard to do with that many different trains and electric lines running aorund? The track is planned before I lay it down. Most of the baseplates is also planned. The monorail and elec lines are placed afterwards, cause this is something you can't plan it before placing. Quote
BillytheKid Posted January 4, 2009 Author Posted January 4, 2009 Most parts (I guess 95%) are ordered for building vestasset 4999. I will post pic's later, just wanted to let you know how far I'm with it. After completing the vestasset, then I start to build a bridge for the 12v train and offcourse connecting all the wires for the 12v system. Quote
Freddie Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Well, I have a little advice regarding that bridge, based on what I experienced today as I built a small-ish layout, that has a two small inclines that raise the track from zero to two bricks height, with an incline of one plate pr. 16 studs. It's not much of an incline, and doesn't affect the trains noteworthy, apart from one thing I discovered that can derail the train at the top - not so serious for me, but you'd be interrested. Make sure of that when the incline levels out at the top of the bridge, make sure that this track is straight. Locomotives, or even train cars if they're pushed, can experience a "lift-off" effect when the track starts to level out. The lift-off effect is caused by the locomotive (or train car, whatever fits) pushing down the bogie/motor, keeping the wheels level with the locomotive. When the track levels out, the locomotive will still be facing upwards, and so will the wheels, with the front axles leaving the track. In a corner this will result in the bogie being pushed off-angle, resulting in a derailment. Keep in mind I experienced this with a 1 plate pr 16 studs incline. I'm guessing you're using a thrice as steep incline, as it's 12V, so you'll want at least one straight track before those elevated curves, probably two! Quote
BillytheKid Posted January 6, 2009 Author Posted January 6, 2009 (edited) Here's the progress of the project vestas . It will be an eyecatchyer, it's quite big. Thx for the advice Freddie. I will certainly look at it. I use 16 straight track to get it to the right level. This is the first design, which is more meant to look which design I need to use for the pilars. And if my design is strong enough to hold the heavy 12v trains, some of mine has 2x 12v motors. Edited May 22, 2009 by Panda9001100 Quote
djo Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 yeah, looks like quite big compared to the market street. i'm still watching the progress. Quote
BillytheKid Posted January 7, 2009 Author Posted January 7, 2009 (edited) Call me annoyning, but new parts have arrived and couldn't resist to build late in the evening. Here are some pic's of the results. I have to wait for more parts , before I can build further. Here the vestas personal is busy the build the generator up: There's no crane which can lift the generator up to the tower. I guess I need a big helicopter to place the generator on top of the tower. Zorbas Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Panda, what can i say? Your layout is simply fantastic! It's like observing an official train catalogue! Well done! Call me annoyning, ..................... You're joking, right? Pictures are never enough! Quote
BillytheKid Posted January 13, 2009 Author Posted January 13, 2009 (edited) Wanna see more ? Here it is: The fight between Darth Maul and Qui-Gon Jinn took place in my town and The Green Goblin is going to help.......(I don't know who ) And here you can see how much wires you need, if you want to build a 12v layout also. Consider carefully if you do, those wires can make you nuts. Lucky I found a store who had the same wires (only color is different) as lego have used for the 12v system. BillytheKid Posted January 13, 2009 Author Posted January 13, 2009 (edited) Today some more parts arrived for my project vestasset 4999 . And the windmill is now connected to the 9v trainregulator. The lights are replaced by 12v ones and the motor will be properly also 12v. It's easier to connect for me. Edited May 22, 2009 by Panda9001100 Quote
djo Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 wiring is really complicated. glad you've managed the cables by color. so the windmill engine already mounted, can't wait for the propeller and see it rotating. keep the good work man. Quote
BillytheKid Posted February 4, 2009 Author Posted February 4, 2009 (edited) Well vestasset is almost complete, just miss a few bricks. Windmill is working ans is remoted controlled. And the building inspector makes her round :P And I have also build 2 sets of 106, with stickers. Maybe I would like to sell one set, but what kind of price I need to ask for? I have no buildinginstructions Edited May 22, 2009 by Panda9001100 Quote
Lockt Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Like always your layouts keep amazing me. Your Vesta project is a nice addition to an awesome layout. And although its huge, it doesnt miss-fit in your town. Nice! Quote
djo Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 nice windmill. it look very gigantic to me, anyway nice rotor and engine. you sure have a faithful and nice inspector. Quote
BillytheKid Posted April 26, 2009 Author Posted April 26, 2009 (edited) It's been a little quiet around panda-city, well the simple reason is the financial crisis around the world. Less money and very strange less time for lego nowadays. And I've in 1 of my cars let build in a LPG-tank (fuel is far too expensive 1litre-1,30euro), while 1litre LPG costs around 0.43 euro. Normally on petrol it runs at 1litre-16km's, on LPG it's 1litre-14km's. Anyway, I've made mine train page at brickshelf a little more easier and more understandable in a logic order in when I bought the sets. Sofar I've done the first 9 trains. I made pic's of bought sides and one great shot to get a impressive view of the locomotive itself. What you think of this way of viewing the trains to you people? Here is the map of the trains: Here you can see the first train of mine: Edited April 26, 2009 by Panda9001100 Quote
legotrainfan Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 (edited) I think the way you've organised your brishelf folder is a good way to present your sets. Your brickshelf folder provides a very good overview. It's not confusing or anyhting. Edited April 26, 2009 by legotrainfan Quote
djo Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 nice brickshelf layout for your train buying and creation chronology. great job man. btw, where is your 10th to 12th, 21st, 22nd, 24th, 25th and 27th trains pictures? sorry if i'm wrong. Quote
BillytheKid Posted April 27, 2009 Author Posted April 27, 2009 Still working on those . It's complete till the 8th train. I hope I get this week a little bit further. I'm also working at my harry potter layout, I need more space to place all sets in a logic order . Quote
BillytheKid Posted May 21, 2009 Author Posted May 21, 2009 Time for an update. I have kept the pic's small, cause of the new rules at this forum. Just click at picture and you get a bigger one. Here you can see the start of the trainbridge based form the bridge of spiderman. I'm going to try to build the front of the bank (also a spidermanset) inside the bridge. Here you can see that almost de half of the wires is connected. It's about 100meter wire and I need (I guess) another 100meter....... Cause of the stress of all those wires, the elec poles are getting pulled out of there place. With a self made system and a lot of weights I hope to get the elec poles straight. Don't pay attention to those trainwagons on the streets. A 12v tracks needs to be cleaned form time to time and need to place those wagons somewhere . Here is that system to get the elec poles straight. I used this to winch the strings attached to the poles. I used a worm screw so the strings can't go back. My english is bad to explain exactly what my idea is. I hope the pictures explain better then these words . Quote
