I'll add that agree that the Classic sets; Space, Futuron, Blacktron, etc, don't need to be rehashed. Those sets are perfect in their own ways. I think that the key word is "revisit." I may be wrong, but I don't think that anyone wants to see old sets modernized, thats what keeps happening with Star Wars, and that gets old. The old stuff makes for great inspiration, but new sets are a must.

I agree completely here with you. I would rather see new designs than older designs re-released, although I wouldn't mind a "Legends" sort of reissue of a few good sets, in moderate amounts.

Indeed that's exactly what I would want.

Maybe it time for Seatron the theme that never was.

"Legends" could be a cool idea. A special release of a few classic sets. Maybe have a fan vote system or just rerelease one or two from each series. In order to do that though, TLG would probably have to keep the sets in the small to mid-sized range.

Awww man that would be so neat. Seatron looks like it could've been one of the best, if not most interesting series. It would be great to see some variety in lifeforms and the worlds that are explored in the Lego Universe.

We have a discussion here about why the Legends line failed.

My vote is for Ice Planet. They've already used the trans orange stuff recently with Mars Mission so why not use it some more? I suppose that's a very weak reason but I'll have a better one soon enough!

A revival of ice planet color themes and designs would be perfect for the military wing of them i am creating. I always need more big white skis.

I'm happy that Blacktron is a clear No.1 at this poll. Great! :thumbup:

But at the same time I wonder why Robo Force has receives so little votes. I liked this line. Esspecially the robo raptor.

If Lego would revive this line, I imagine it could be really cool. Cool dinosaur-like Mechs with blasters and some military style figures. I think this could be fabulous.

It was a good line, just small. no base, no starships. it could have been great with a little expansion. why don't you build your own expansion of it?

@Roboforce:

- First of all, everybody out of the US got a No export for you! from LEGO and never actually got this theme. So for most of us non-Americans out there it is unlikely that we have nostalgic feelings towards this theme. I honestly didn't know it existed after around 5 months since I ended my dark age.

- I personally don't like the theme because for a theme called Roboforce, the mechs were not given much thought. Their design seems to be a move backwards from even the mechs in classic space.

I have always disliked all Roboforce sets. However, the color scheme was very good, and if Lego came with good mechs this time, I'd give it a try.

I actually had some of the Roboforce sets when I was a kid, and it always struck me as sort of an oddball theme. I didn't dislike it, though... it was just a little under-realized.

A modern adaptation could be interesting, even though the chances of that ever happening approach zero.

Blacktron, Futuron and Mars mission got my votes. Blacktron is the coolest. Futuron is what I have most of. And Mars mission with better Martians and more emphasis on Martian life and less on crazy vehicles would be cool.

My votes went to M:Tron, Iceplanet 2002, Exploriens and UFO.

I don't own any set of the first one, but even looking at them on pictures makes it apparent that they are, without exception, truly great and deserving of a re-interpretation. Their role doesn't have to change, civilians in space is something that seriously lacked since the Exploriens.

Iceplanet is one of the two space-themes I grew up with and I think that their colour scheme is by far the easiest to pull off with the parts currently avaiable. It'd also make sense to release Iceplanet 2022 in 2012 or 2013, just like its ancestor got released ten of nine years prior to its setting.

Exploriens is the other faction I grew up with and especially with the recent Alien invasion it'd make sense to start exploring space :laugh:

Finally, I have a soft spot for UFO because it was so drastically different from any previous faction. Their saucers and minifigs were beyond cool and the Interstellar Starfighter remained my largest space-set until finally getting my hands on the Deep Freeze Defender and the Explorien Starship.

While Blacktron and Spacepolice are no doubt awesome, I don't think we'll see SP IV anytime soon. And Blacktron isn't it true self if it can't fight those goody-good guys from SP - those two simply belong together and shouldn't be separated.

As for a completely new faction, SEATRON would be beyond awesome and a sure-fire hit. It'd also continue the deep-sea themes if Atlantis doesn't survive. And we then might get to see that epic monorail of the line :cry_happy:

I voted Space Police, Blacktron, and Spyrius. Space Police, of course, because it's a classic theme and because Blacktron is nothing without the Space Police as protagonists. Blacktron because it is also classic and TLG clearly has a special place in their hearts for this theme. Spyrius just because I love the way it's a semi-hardcore twist on the flying saucers and giant robots that no B-movie space villains should be without. But as with Blacktron, such a theme would not be good unless a "good guy" faction were included.

This.

I don't really understand why so many people are voting for the Space Police... seeing as that theme has already been revived.

Well, in my case, they're the most iconic good guys. They have a consistent gimmick-- prison pods-- that doesn't detract from the building experience and never feels too gimmicky or old-fashioned. And since you need good guys to have bad guys, then someone's got to be revived.

Some people treat Unitron as a "good guy theme", but I can never find any legitimate story information about Unitron, especially because it was a US-only theme for the most part. I wish I could find someone who has Mania Magazine scans up for download, but I never can. And anyway, their gimmick-- cockpit modules that are interchangeable between almost all the sets-- could get old really fast IMO.

Something to keep in mind is that Space Police has been revived twice It has demonstrated its staying power quite effectively. And I don't think theme revivals should be on the basis of what's "due" for a revival-- rather, they should be merit-based, and Space Police sets have a lot of merits in all iterations.

Plus, I'm still a little disappointed that Space Police ended so soon. It lived a good life, lasting about three waves of sets, but I had been hoping foolishly for a Blacktron revival. And I don't think you can do a Blacktron revival justice without the Space Police.

@Aanchir

I don't see how the detachable and interchangeable cockpit design would get old, at least not in the longevity of one set. Blacktron II had several vehicles with interchangeable cockpits, IIRC.

I'm actually working on an interchangeable cockpit design right now. a simple design that connects and disconnects easily can be a big plus.

IMHO
