Posted September 10, 201113 yr What are your stories? Ever had a valuable Lego package lost? Ever found it? Today, something very amusing happened to me regarding a lost package. I placed an order on Bricklink for some figures, with a total value of around $50, on March. The package was sent at the end of that month. However, as TWO months passed by, I thought I would never see my package. I tried everything to track this package, even contacting the seller, to no avail. Then of course, I assumed I would never get it, and forgot about it. However, today, exactly on September 9th, which is coincidentally Children's Day here, my package was found! (OK, I'm no kid, but I'm young enough to still feel something on Children's Day ) I have already opened it, and my figures are already safe and warm at home. So, any interesting stories regarding lost packages? Some make us irate, heartbroken, or joyful. What are your stories?
September 10, 201113 yr Back when the chrome stormtrooper magnets were new and available from TLG, I ordered 4 at $10 each, LEGO shipped it with a method that allowed the shipper to leave the package, well sat the time I lived in an apartment, and they left it in the main entrance by all the mail boxes. Anyone off the street could have taken it or another tenant, as there was no key required. In the end TLG actually resent them fed ex secured. Needless to say I was surprised, because they basically took my word for it.
September 10, 201113 yr So far I have had only good experiences ordering Legos online thankfully. Only thing I could say is I ordered a $100 Lego from the UK it had no tracking and took a solid month to arrive. I was worried but worked out lol. Edited September 10, 201113 yr by Gokey
September 10, 201113 yr I've had quite a few bad experiences actully.. Back when eBay was a trusted site (A couple years ago now ), I bought 2 10174 UCS AT-ST's, deboxed, from the states.. Never arrived. The guy turned out to be a fraud (which was strange considering he wasn't selling bigger sets, or selling them MISB).. Luckily Paypal refunded me completely, after a month or so of going back and forth. Another time, also on eBay, (must have been when Fraudsters were coming into fashion), I bought a MISB 10179 UCS Falcon, also from guy in the states. The price was good, Not 'too good to be true' good, But fair, just under US RRP. The guy was a total fraud, just took the money and ran. I was absolutely gutted. Paypal managed to refund me $200US, But I still lost a few hundred dollars. I now mostly only use Bricklink, and when I do use eBay, I'll usually refuse to buy anything over $100 claiming to be 'MISB'. Just isn't worth it. That said, I've still had packages lost even from people I trust.. A guy on here (I won't mention his name, for privacy reasons) offered to forward on 3 Sandcrawlers for me, once agian from America (You americans.. ). Sent them a few years ago, and they just never arrived. I stayed in contact with the guy for a while, he even went and bought me 3 more from his own pocket. Instead of me paying postage, we agreed he would keep one as a cover of postage costs, and send me the other two. But to this day, There's still various reasons as to why they're apparently still in his closet. I do want to trust the guy, but it hasn't exactly shaped up all that well, considering I've wasted hours trying to sort it out and still haven't had anything arrive. I've decided this one was a 'bad luck' write-off - Though some days I do remember, and wish he'd send them, But I've got to try forget I guess you've got to have a few bad experinces along with the good ones, But none the less, It definately does suck
September 10, 201113 yr My worst experience with a "missing" package was last year. I ordered 9v train tracks from a vendor from Germany. They had reputable 1000+ POS feedback but, after a little over a month of "no show" I started sending, "where is my item" messages. It took a couple more weeks before I received a response, saying it had been retuned to sender, due to it needing a signature upon arrival. I was never home for it's sig. request and did not receive of those "Attempted Delivery Slips". Eventually I got the tracks but, they tried to charge me with a second shipping charge, which I declined to pay for lack of info on shipping, as there was no delivery confirmation and no contact until item was returned to sender. I was satisfied though, perturbed it took so long for the message response
September 10, 201113 yr I haven't had many instances of this despite buying Lego from overseas hundreds of times. There was one case of an MISB 6986 where the seller claimed the package was damaged and returned to him, and he refunded my money. I think he was doing something shady though since he apparently told several other buyers similar things, going by his feedback. I now mostly only use Bricklink, and when I do use eBay, I'll usually refuse to buy anything over $100 claiming to be 'MISB'. Just isn't worth it. Most of these MISB sets on ebay are legit. Just avoid the buy it now items. The scammers usually stick to those, and they are never good deals anyway.
September 10, 201113 yr I'm an avid user of BrickLink, and every now and then there are pieces missing from an order. That's no big surprise as all the sellers are humans... but I've only left negative feedback twice, once for a seller who sent me a package where a whole lot of parts were missing, and most of the rest were just filthy. Now, I knew they were used, but these looked like they'd been dragged through the mud. Anyway, the other one was much worse: I placed an order with a seller called Dioramas Modellbau, without checking their (relatively sparse) feedback. Big mistake. After having asked for the invoice several times I finally got a response after three weeks, with the invoice for almost 100 Euros. I paid the invoice, and after that all communication stopped. I sent multiple emails, but never heard anything again, and never received any package. The seller is now out of business after having pulled the same fraud several times - and after having made a lot of money. Regarding lost packages... the worst experience I've had was when I bought a MISB 4999 Vestas Windmill from a seller in Hong Kong. Needless to say, I paid a lot of money for it, and was anxious to get it - so when the mailman left a note in my mailbox that I could pick it up at the post office, I was relieved. Only to find out that somebody at the post office had by mistake left it on top of a pile of packages that were to be returned to sender. Which meant that it had been picked up and taken somewhere - but nobody could tell me where, because it was only traceable by barcode, and the last scan on the barcode was in my local post office - where it wasn't anymore... Luckily, some postal worker at some office somewhere else found it a couple of days later, wondering what it was, and scanned the barcode. After which it was promptly returned to the right post office - and now it sits on my desk. Phew.
