Corweena Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 (edited) Hey EB! This is my first MOC since coming out of the dark ages (5 years). I was inspired to build this when I was looking at my Camouflaged Outpost set, but wanted something a little bit bigger. It is still a work in progress, but the front is almost done. I will update as I finish the interior, sides, and top. Here are a few pictures......(sorry if they are kind of blurry, the lighting in my room isn't that great, and I don't have a good camera) Notice how the Forestmen are always on the alert, they have their tools in their hands, but their weapons are within reach! I hope to have more updates this weekend! Any comments, suggestions, and criticism are welcome! I can take it, believe me Edited September 10, 2011 by Corweena Quote
Jedi master Brick Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 Very nic Moc, I really like the rock face Quote
Corweena Posted September 10, 2011 Author Posted September 10, 2011 Very nic Moc, I really like the rock face Thank you sir. the rocks in Maydayartist's giant medieval town inspired me. Here is a small update: The Forestmen are still hard at work on their lair, they just finished the camouflaged main entrance and are opening it up. Well, most of them are working.....one lazy bum is about to get a rude awakening Overall view.... Quote
TheLegoDr Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 I like the concept. It does add a hidden dimension to it. Although, it isn't a very quick hideout if it takes that many people to open the entrance. Quote

Although, it isn't a very quick hideout if it takes that many people to open the entrance. Thanks. Yeah that issue will be addressed. I am designing a system that will enable it to be opened by a single person. I was just showing the "initial" opening, where multiple people were required to open it. Corweena Posted September 14, 2011 Author Posted September 14, 2011 (edited) So I finally finished the top and the sides of the Lair......the interior is mostly done, but is not quite presentable just yet. On to pics...... I started running out of grey pieces, so the side isn't as detailed as the front. I changed the faces of my Forestmen to some that gave them a little more character (they are all Star Wars faces ). Edited September 14, 2011 by Corweena Quote
K-Nut Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Very nice! I really have to pick up some Forestmen now. To BL! Quote
TheLegoDr Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Nice work! I like how it looks like a cliffside and no one would ever suspect there are entrances hidden to hide out. Brilliant! And I do miss those Forestmen. I have about 17 of them and grew pretty fond of them. Quote

Si-MOCs Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Nice little build :) Though I kinda liked the big giant rock door - it's like a medieval safe room! can't wait for interior shots! Keep up the good work! Quote
Corweena Posted September 14, 2011 Author Posted September 14, 2011 Well the Forestmen have completed their Seaside Lair! Here are some of the special features of the Lair.... The Main entrance. Its held closed by a rubber band, and can only be opened from the inside. A secret compartment for a Forestman to hide in an emergency (sorry super blurry). The hidden entrance for the Forestmen to climb from the inside of their lair to the top of the cliff (blurry again). The side entrance in case a quick escape is needed! Here are the interior shots (with upper storage level intact) The weapons corner..... And here are some of the men relaxing and enjoying a nice cup wine/ale! Sadly for the two youngest Forestmen, the others pulled seniority, and made these two take first watch....they aren't too happy. Let me know what you guys think. Comments, suggestions, and criticisms are welcome! Nice little build :) Though I kinda liked the big giant rock door - it's like a medieval safe room! can't wait for interior shots! Keep up the good work! Thanks! Interior shots are up. And the rock door is still there (you can see it in my last post). Quote
Tanma Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Wow, excellent cliff face. Noting the updated pictures, I have to say the interior is even better. The large amount of provisions should let them hide for weeks, until their foes give up. And with so many exit points, a siege is impossible. The only thing I find a little off is the lack of sleeping accommodations. Forestmen might be great trackers and hunters, but they still need to sleep every now and again. Quote
de Gothia Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 I really like the fact that it has a classic castle style to it with a modern twist ! The side entrance really reminds me of the Camouflaged Outpost 6066. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 I do enjoy the interior shots as well. I'm glad to see a few more entrances from above. I'm reminded of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves with all their little hiding places under branches/leaves. I agree a pseudo-sleeping area would be nice to see and there would be plenty of room for such. Keep up the good work! Quote

I did realize that I forgot to include a sleeping area....i planned on putting them on the upper level, but I guess I just forgot and put the supplies up there instead. I'll try and work something out today. I really like the fact that it has a classic castle style to it with a modern twist ! The side entrance really reminds me of the Camouflaged Outpost 6066. Thanks.....yeah the entrance is from my Camouflaged Outpost set. I just had to add an extra 1x4 brick on the bottom for it to with level. I wanted to do it in gray but ran out of pieces. I do enjoy the interior shots as well. I'm glad to see a few more entrances from above. I'm reminded of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves with all their little hiding places under branches/leaves. ExpiredHero Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Really like this Forestmen MoC, especially seeing the WiP shots and how the project has developed. The rockfaces look amazing and the hideout definitely has an old school Castle vibe with the secret doors Quote
Hartfan Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 That's a great MOC. Looks really interesting. Great work ! Quote
Corweena Posted September 15, 2011 Author Posted September 15, 2011 Thanks for the kind words guys. Once I'm done with this one I'll let it sit for a bit, then tear it down to build something new. Quote

Cpt. Tristan Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Very nice. I have a few forestmen myself and am thinking of building a rock outcropping with a small watchtower and little inside-a-rock hideout. Very well thought out design. ~Cpt. Tristan Quote
Jareth Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 My favorite part is the combo of leaf and brown whip pieces to make an overhanging tree. A lot of those by a riverside would look great Quote
Hiawatha Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 It looks like the forestmen have a good place to hide! You did a very good job making the cliffs. Quote
