Posted September 11, 201113 yr OKay guys, im fairly new to LDD. I've made several things no problem. Now im using the Extemded Mode for more access to parts, and for instructions. Right now i'm making a sailing ship. Ive got th main shape near completion, im just looking for sails and rigging. Does anyone know where they are/if they are on LDD? Help is much appreciated.

I'm pretty sure there are no sails, and while there is string, it's stuck as one long straight line. I'm pretty sure it doesn't flex.

September 12, 201113 yr Jeez, i though "extended" meant all elements. Wrong again. Well, it means all the elements they've rendered and programmed connectivity for. So basically, anything that is programmed into LDD in any way, shape, or form is in Extended mode, as far as I am aware (contrast with LEGO Universe mode, which is missing a great number of newer parts). The programmers of LDD have stated that it is their intention to add all part designs to LDD besides a small number that for whatever reason can not be rendered. But they are a long way from that goal. In the most recent update, of course, they made significant progress by adding many older parts including several outdated styles of hinges. So in the very least, we know that they were sincere when they stated their desire to work towards a comprehensive parts palette.
September 12, 201113 yr Author Maybe it's because sails are fabric, but they minifigure capes on LDD... Capes are not in the minifig section, so could that mean sails wouldn't be in the vehicle section?

Bingo. Any parts that flex, sails included, are way harder to program. In the case of sails you're dealing with parts that flex along many axes (consider that sails behave differently when used as sails and when used for other purposes, as in this set). With rigging you're trying to manipulate a string that in most cases has varying tension, and endpoints, depending on where you tie it. The minifig cape, on the other hand, needs zero flexibility to fit on a standard fig (it still would need complex flexibility to fit on minifigs with body armor, something it currently lacks).
