KimT Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 nono i'm not talking about Dark Age per definition, but more the feeling that you've lost that fanatical touch to it. it's like 'ok guys, if anything new gets released, i'll hear about it later on, when it suits me best' Last year i would search lots of websites, looking for just bits and pieces, any type of news was good, whenever i went to city, I would automatically go to all shops to see if they had anything new, this year, when i go to the city, I find that I don't even feel like visiting these shops... I still buy lego there, but the actuall urge is gone... If i don't buy it today, then perhaps tomorrow...Compare it bit with getting a brand new car you bought: at first, you want every one to see it, you wanna drive it, you wanna clean it every 5 minutes... but at one point... it becomes a car, nothing more, something you still like, you stil wann drive, but not ... you know what I mean. So no, it doesn't have to do with a budget, or building Mocs, not your personal life that changes, it's something else... I still check just about every toy-shop or discount store I pass. For me there is no "what I don't buy today - I'll buy tomorrow". As for the fanatical touch - I still feel it. Though only concerning SW, but it has always been like that. I think it's just the way we are fanatic about it that changes over time. Just as the feel of a new car that You compare our joint passion to. Brick On! KimT Quote
Jipay Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 To me, you're in a period of boredom Sne lol. It just happens to everyone : sometimes, Lego just doesn't make you feel warm and fuzzy inside. That's normal. It's will just come again. What we tried to say is just that our everyday life can have a real impact on our beloved hobby ! Back on the women, I must say that I'm impressed by Natelite's depiction of women. That's pretty darn accurate. But there are some still missing, I wish you made an extensive list ! (and I'm pretty sure everyone would just appreciate X-D ). As for the age stuff, I just think I stopped saying "Girlfriend" around my early 20's. But it must be a cultural thing, so don't bother lol. I think Suvie sumed it up quite well : don't bother being with girls who don't like bricks. After all, why shopping would be less stupid than playing with bricks ? Quote
natelite Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 oh, i'm sure women are more complex than that...it was just my attempt at humor. ;-) [/politically correct statement] if you want to expand the list and poke humor in the process please feel free! i could enjoy a good laugh... :-D :-P p.s. if anyone is interested in how i came up with the four types/quadrants, it's basically an analysis of control and self/group serving. total control, self serving = overpriced rubbish beoyatch. total control, group serving = disciplinarian. shared control, self serving = malibu barbie. shared control, group serving = girl next door. :-P p.p.s. can i get my title changed to "beoyatch analyst"? :-P Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 Well, I don't have a girlfriend but one of my closest friends is a girl, and she really doesn't care about my hobby. Heck, she even built something once :-P. Then again, she is 20 by now and she's pretty grown-up and stuff. And anyway, girls have to take you for who you are, not for what your hobby is :-) Quote
ApophisV Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Heck, she even built something once :-P Ha! Dana and me had a very similar situation a short while before our relationship started! ;-) Quote
Kahgarak Posted September 1, 2006 Posted September 1, 2006 Well,i don't buy complete collections of canister sets anymore...I only have one Toa Hordika and four Visorak. I'll try to buy next year's villain group, however. They are awesome. Quote
Ras 74 Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 I have had my collection of SW and all my bricks packed away for a year now. I Quote
Dino_Bot Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 For me it wasn't such a bad year, I spent a LOT in Lego. I got 6 Toa, 6 Piraka, Sidorak, Matoran, V-Wing, A-Wing, Mechas, that awesome red Triceratops...Its been my best Lego year in fact. Best part is...THIS YEAR AINT DONE YET. Quote
Lord Thrawn Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 Yeah, I think this year has been one of the best in a long time (last year was great too, sans Bionicle) as price per piece ratios have gone up in many sets, and they're just improving. The only bad thing is stickers, but many of the stickered parts don't need that kind of detail anyway so... I've not been in a dark age in 8 years (when I was 7 I came out of the dark), and so I probably won't for some time yet. Quote
