DLuders Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 @ sama: Usually at the Toy Fairs, cameras are not allowed. In past years, a few sneaky spy photos (usually taken from cell phones) leak out to the web, but TLG usually shuts them down within a day. There's a fair chance that 2H2012 Technic sets will be exhibited there -- be alert because any pictures won't last long! Quote
Wiseman_2 Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 So, Huw at Brickset was at the London toy fair, and he has some more information on the two 2H sets (but not the tractor): Linksi So it turns out we ARE getting new motors. Including a servo. Quote
Countdown Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 (edited) Here on this pic from flicker we can see the Technic stand from above, if you zoom at the pic, we can see rock crawler box, helicopter and a green machine (tractor maybe) Flickr edit:link fixed Edited January 25, 2012 by Countdown Quote

le60head Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 (edited) Thanks for the pics guys! I'm really excited about this year's flagship! P.S. I just saw some preluminary photos of the box of this year's flagship - the rock crawler. It seems to me, that on the illustration of the functions on the front of the box, it is displayed that all 4 wheels are steerable? Also, i am guessing that the two m-motors, used for propulsion are mounted on the front and read axle respectively. Edited January 25, 2012 by le60head Quote

Correct. i am also very excited! Did anyone else notice that the model was set up on a table full of dirt and sticks? Could there finally be a lego set that is officially allowed to be driven outside?! tim Quote
Paul Boratko Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Looks like the Rock Crawler got a make-over... Quote
tduby Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 (edited) Looks like the Rock Crawler got a make-over... and not for the better black and white seems boring black and orange was at least harley colors :) also is the little tractor shown 4th from the right? Edited January 25, 2012 by tduby Quote
sama Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 (edited) The helicopter is huge! Look at is compared to 9397 and 9394. What sucks is it is not motorized, but it can be with 8293. EDIT: Oh, and also it looks like they redesigned the nose of the helicopter a bit, it just looks different from the preliminary pictures. Edited January 25, 2012 by sama Quote
sama Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 There's a bit of red showing behind the green tractor. It kind of resembles 8284. Quote
Paul Boratko Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 and not for the better black and white seems boring black and orange was at least harley colors :) also is the little tractor shown 4th from the right? I know... I thought that Black/Orange combo looked so good together too... And yes, that definitely looks like the new Tractor set... It's a little blurry, but you can make out what it is... Plus it is right in the sequence of the price of the sets with what it's speculated(and confirmed) price was... Quote

I don't get it, what are you guys talking about? The preliminary images showed 9398 having a black-orange front and a black-white rear. Wait till my BS is public and take a look for your self, the preliminary box clearly shows a black-white-orange truck in the top-right corner. Edited January 25, 2012 by sama Quote
Paul Boratko Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 What do you mean by "Your" brickshelf folder? Do you have some new images that we haven't seen? The pics are all over the internet(I have them saved on my computer as well) unless you have something that no one else has seen... This doesn't quite look like the same thing that were in the early prelim picture... It just seems like the entire rear of the vehicle including the roof is white... Then again, I guess that you couldn't really see the roof from the prelim box art... Quote

Paul Boratko Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 (edited) Maybe more stickers were added...? Wait, what do you mean the roof is white? it doesn't look white. Maybe that is just the rear bed then... It just looks to have much more white than in the prelim picture... Edited January 25, 2012 by Paul Boratko Quote

True (about the rear bed), the only thing that throws people off is they think the rear of 9398 preliminary is LBG, its actually white so comparing the two pictures, there is a equal amount of white on both of them. sama Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Anyways, here is a picture of the Technic line up by Huw Anybody who has the prelims, look closely at both pictures and look at the white, there is no difference. Wait till my BS is public, I have the original preliminary pics on it. Quote

Wait till my BS is public, I have the original preliminary pics on it. Uploaded with ImageShack.us looking at both pics I think they added more white stickers or something if you look at the top picture it doesn't seem to have as much white on the top ofthe model in the prelim pics. normaly I don't care but white on a truck is so ugly it reminds me to much of cheap work trucks. ButI am forsure buying at least 2 maybe build one salvage the other for future projects. Quote
Blakbird Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Looks like we're finally getting some black wheels again! With regard to the servo motor, I assume that it will have return-to-center function. The main purpose of a servo is that it is proportional, but no proportional signal is sent by the current 2 channel controller. This makes me wonder if a new controller will be included, but the picture looks like it is the old one. Quote
GuiliuG Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 (edited) The box shows the old motors too. There is maybe a chance that they create a new controller if they added new servo-motors, no? Edited January 25, 2012 by GuiliuG Quote
Jim Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 I know I'm not speaking for all of us, but personally, I think this is one of the best Technic years ever. There's not even a single model which I don't like. New motors in a fully remote controlled vehicle, a huge non-wheeled model (the helicopter, which looks awesome), a medium to large sized truck, a very nice airplane (I really love this set), some nice smaller models and not to forget; new parts or parts in new colors. I am happy with the 2012 line-up! Quote
chorlton Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 I wasn't excited by this year's models but I'd missed the fact 9398 was fully remote control. Mmmmmmmmmmm. Quote
Tobbe Arnesson Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 a lego set that is officially allowed to be driven outside?! Seen these? http://www.brickset.com/browse/themes/?theme=Racers&subtheme=Outdoor%20RC Quote

Zerobricks Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 I hope the new drive motors have two linear axle outputs, so you can put them in the model axle tranversally. Quote
