December 12, 201113 yr I was baffled when I found out that even the taller Heroes used the old 2.0 body. I thought they would have included some sort of new, piece to keep the torso area in proportion with the longer legs. But at the end of the day, there's not a big difference between Surge/Evo and the taller trio- just longer pieces (which really doesn't increase the parts count)for the legs and some extra equipment (which increases the parts count by a bit). I really can't wait to see reviews of Breez (or Breeze? I saw people utilizing both with a quick Google search), Splitface and Thornraxx. There's so much stuff we still don't know about them, especially Thornraxx: how is it build? Is it black or Titanium Metallic?
December 12, 201113 yr Uploading a Rocka review to my Youtube channel, HFReviewCentral! Very cool set :D Edited December 12, 201113 yr by Charmander11
December 12, 201113 yr Can you post an instruction shot of the Rocka-Black Phantoma combiner? I'm dying to see that (sorry Siegfried ).

December 12, 201113 yr I've seen it...It's disgusting. DISGUSTING #IAmDisappoint What???? I thought it was the best combiner... well, different people have different opinions... anyways, heres the Rocka review and there is a pic of the combiner in there, Jouster: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vp_9olqRhI Enjoy!
December 12, 201113 yr Rocka looked awesome in that review. But then I noticed that it was most likely because of the bad lighting. Many bricks that are not black in the CGI looked black in the review. If that was Rocka's real color scheme it would have been this wave's high note.

December 13, 201113 yr Well, the combiner isn't what I was excepting (which was an humanoid), but I still think it looks good. It seems combiners this time are animal-like creatures, much like many Bionicle combiners, about 2005 onwards, were Rahi. I welcome this direction- it inspires us to sway from the humanoid structure amd think up new uses for the new building system. Oh boy, Front just gave Thornraxx and Splitface his stamp of approval. Now I'm even more anxious to see reviews of them..
December 13, 201113 yr Oh boy, Front just gave Thornraxx and Splitface his stamp of approval. Now I'm even more anxious to see reviews of them.. I could give all the sets stamp of approval, but I don't think anyone should consider that as anything near a proff that the sets are good But these three are my favorites right now. Breeze and Furno are probably my least favorites, but that could change once I build them myself. They are after all the larger heros in this wave.
December 13, 201113 yr So are the sets available in (US?) stores or are they only available through TRU order?
December 13, 201113 yr So are the sets available in (US?) stores or are they only available through TRU order? They're available in store; I ran by my TRU yesterday after calling to see. Bought Toxic Reapa, Jawblade, Evo and Rocka. Left Black Phantom for another day. (I think they might of had Surge, but I'm not a hundred percent on him.)

I'm not a thornraxx lover either but definitely getting one for the central connectors, the colors and the wings (missed out the first time around) Who came up with that crazy space age lenticular riot shield on Breez and Rocka? I am so impressed with it; never could have suspected the optical effect before I opened my set.

I am so impressed with it; never could have suspected the optical effect before I opened my set. I don't know who came up with that idea, but the master of the big sets (e.g. Firelord, WD and Skopio XV-1), Esben, was the designer of the piece. The geometry of the surface is exactly the same as used on the Bionicle set Gorast, but it is much better in the new version where it is used on a much clearer material. The soft wings of Gorast kind of dampened the visual effect. Erland, Part Design

I wonder if the Gorast wing pieces are going to be made of a little harder plastic this time? probably not, but it would be nice for them to share the same effect as the shield pieces.

I think if they were made of a harder plastic they might snap. They're very thin. Then again, so are many LEGO flags, so perhaps it would work. In any event, I don't expect the material of the piece to change unless the part itself were redesigned to take advantage of or compensate for it.

Fair point; I wasn't expected it to be re-cast in a harder plastic but you do make a good point about the flags. Suppose we'll have to wait and see. I've not got Gorast, so either way it's a "new" element to me; I've got a lot of plans for it Edited December 13, 201113 yr by Rocketbilly
December 13, 201113 yr So was I understanding right that online pick a brick is gonna stick around/get updated? Because I'd love to get the handcuff chain links in bulk. jawblade's lower jaw is also a piece I'd like a couple more of, so I guess I'm just wondering on the likelihood of so on and so forth. Edit: can't forget the ammo belt Edited December 14, 201113 yr by SpiderSpaceman

December 14, 201113 yr My local TRU has Surge, but little else aside from Black Phantom, Toxic Reapa, and Rocka. Is it possible that they might be availble in Wallmart?
December 14, 201113 yr Is it possible that they might be availble in Wallmart? Can't say all of them are like it, but the ones in my area are the last to get something new in. I would say check sometime next month for Walmart.
December 14, 201113 yr Dang, the sets I want most, Thornraxx and Breez, don't seem to be out yet based on field reports. I can't look myself because my car got totalled last week. =/
December 14, 201113 yr I did a sweep of all the local toyspots in my area, and I didn't find anything, so I guess it's just a per-store basis. Sadly, even with the BOGO on the site, it doesn't alleviate the tax and shipping; I will never be saving money. So, I guess I'll just give it another week or two...
December 14, 201113 yr Well, there is a "Buy $49 worth of merchandise and get free shipping" deal as well. It's just a matter of if you have that money to spend or not. Regarding Walmart, yeah, Walmart notoriously gets the sets the last of any major retail store. Usually, for me at least, it goes Toysrus first, Target second, everyone else third... and Walmart last. December 14, 201113 yr I can't really justify spending that much money at any given instance =P. I have to buy stuff for other people too, I just figured a little treat to myself wouldn't be so bad. But, thwarted. If TRU didn't mark up their prices, it would be worth it, but they just like making things expensive =(
December 14, 201113 yr For anyone else living in the UK, they're coming out here Boxing Day. Thanks to eBay, I was already able to snag Rocka, Jawblade and Surge.
