OK Vinyl, we get it. You're officially obsessed w/ Core Hunter. Now please try and calm down.

Sorry. Never was so excited for a set since the Jetrax T6. Sorry

Looking again at the Voltix image, he has too many colours. I mean, Red, Yellow, Purple, Gunmetal. I hope the finalized imaegs are better :oh:

Core Hunter including a Hero Core will actually make perfect sense given his name (but could he really be villain? Or an undercover Hero? He has the new HF standard issue launcher)

I swear though, he's not the only one that's crazy about that set. One of the best designed "normal sized" villains in a long time, IMO. And that says something considering the many unique villain designs we've seen thus far.

Talking about core Hunter, that is.

I'm already doing a review, sorry.

Ah... I overlooked your previous post. Sorry about that.

Too bad, because I'm already ready'n'set to write one.

Maybe I'll post one after you... I mean, there were already multiple reviews on other sets as well.

But now to the new Sets!

First of all, blurry pictures are blurry. In more than half of the cases I can only guess.

Nex - Nothing special, except for the translucent LEGO Antenna, which reminds me of my childhood were those were common in the old Spaceship sets (are they still common? I don't know...).

Stringer - Blue looks nice. I wonder if he wears some sort of large rifle.

XT4 - His head looks weird to me. His overall design is nice though.

Core Hunter - Dark and menacing. He looks promising.

Bulk - The shoulder-mounted cannon looks pretty neat. I'm pretty sure his armour in this picture is only a placeholder.

Voltix - Weird tentacle monster with a rather messy colour scheme. But I'm curious about his back.

Stormer XL - While I do prefer white over gold, he looks not as impressive as Rocka XL did. But if he isn't too pricey (like Witch Doctor) and comes with neat parts, odds are rather good that I'll buy him.

Righty then time for some more in depth looks at these guys

Voltix: Figured this guy was coming, his armor seemed too new to just be a an animation model that is so set-like. The only thing I dont like, is his varied color scheme. Unfortunatly, the red and blue look like they are their to stay, because thats how they are in the animation. The electrical bits look quite nice, and the purple is of course amazing. Also, I'm really liking the mata yellow tentacle and zamor(not a new color for that part, but since idont buy NXT i never got one)

Bulk: He's actually starting to grow on me. The shoulder design seems like he is using the same design as the Green lantern figure. The chest I'm guessting is preliminary for a printed piece. Though I do wonder what his secondary design on that part will be. If anythings for sure, it will be an orange design, seeing as orange is more apparent on him here. Oh, and upon further inspection of his right shoulder, he has either a BLACK, SILVER< OR GRAY 2.0 gun shield thing, which is awesome. And looks to have system rockets on it.

Core Hunter: Am I theonly one here that is SERIOUSLY getting sick of red and black as a villain color? Regardless, he looks fantastic. hes bulky, evil looking, and I have a feeling has a hero core on that rocka belt thing. Also, his leg armor looks like the shoulder armor on Voltix, and I'm really liking the looks of it

XT4: Wow. I mean, sure, hes meltdown mixed with waspix. But, he's just...AWESOME. Not a to of new bits from what I can tell, but he is extremely unique, and really gives off a true robot feeling. He's that quirky set that I just love.

Stringer: Eh, he looks decent for parts, and I like blue, certainly a nice change from orange, even if its not true to his original character(Besides, breeze has red that wasnt apparent on her old figure) Though his head looks really odd. And what is he doig with his gun?

Nex: Oh...Oh dear. poor nex, what has happened to you? Of course, He'll look far better when he has a proper colored chestplate (Again, temporary for a printed piece) And I like the helmet, it's a nice spinoff of his 2.0 helmet. But hes just, boring, and doesnt bring much new to the table other than the helmet and a new orange chestplate really.

Stormer: SWEET PRIMUS that is one fine looking set. Bulky, powerful, just what stormer should be. Step aside Rocka XL.

And i absolutly love white titan sets, so this is of course appreciated

YES! Lego finally released a shin guard. Check out the Stringer and Core Hunter pictures. I've been wanting this piece for so long.

On the side, I can't say I'm too excited for this wave. I'm really glad they extended the Breakout theme, but the heroes don't look too great. In my opinion Stringer and Nex, two of my three favorite characters, look terrible. I'm really hoping these are preliminaries to the preliminaries.

According to LEGOPictureHQ, there is no 'Speeda Demon' set. Perhaps it just wasn't included in the catalogue; I guess we'll have to wait for Toy Fair.

Both I and Meso's source confirm an 8th set that is larger, Mine did not include a name but I can gurantee you it is official. The name not so much, but thats a matter to be desired

The electricity zaps jutting off of voltix's back are different from surge's, aren't they?

No, they're the same thing (well, in their original color, at any rate), the base is just positioned lower on his back.

If I recall the past with BIONICLE correctly, that happens sometimes, but usually with exclusive sets =P. Maybe this was just a miscommunication, though.

Yeah. for instance, there's supposed to be a set in the Monster Fights theme called "Zombies", which wasn't shown in the catalog. Couple that with the fact the Marvel system sets weren't even included in said catalog, and I'd judge that it's incomplete. As such, I fully expect a similar case here. Hopefully someone else will acquire a picture of the set in between now and February. If not, well, as you said, there's always Toy Fair.

the designs of the heroes is not the most impresive of all, but still, these are very blurry and also preliminar, there's hope for changes that will go to the favour of the sets. Stringer is my favourite by far

the villains look ridicously well done, I may dislike the face of the yellow one a bit, but the body structure looks fairly interesting. my favourite is Voltix by far

(sometimes I wonder, how would Hero factory, developed in model kits by bandai, I need to draw that)

Don't think so...

There's no place on surges bolt where it squeezes into one stalk. I'd be cool with that, because that would at least get me the surge weapon in the improved metallic, but I don't think that's actually the case. Hoping this bolt is freestanding - that is, no emitter attached.

and voltix in the animated clip. and the Cap'n America ultrabuild.

And they have a completely different design, and are layered bolts, not just one flat piece. Plus the bolts themselves are thinner

...Oh hell yes. I am so doing that. Displaying his trophies like they're war medals. Badass!

Also, didn't realize Voltix's electricity piece was new. I'm not sure why, but I'm not warming up much to him yet, despite all those juicy parts.

Anyway - one thing about the general suckiness of the Heroes compared to the villains, even for the Winter line. (I've been quite disappointed with the Heroes after seeing all the reviews, Rocka even.) Lego is sticking to the traditional humanoid build with the Heroes, which pretty much limits their designs - unlike with the villains, where they can come up with more innovative designs thus making them more unique.

Well, that's how LEGO heroes are supposed to look. Anything too freaky and the heroes just won't sell. The Toa Hordika were a great example of that.

On topic, any Splitface reviews yet? A text review, please. I'm not too keen on video reviews.

Not yet, Though i will be running to TRU quite soon, not sure if theyll have him or not but if they do, i'll grab one and do a review. Missed the ball on being first to review them a set this year

My TRU and LEGO store are depressingly stagnant. I'm just gonna order some from TRU/S@H. S@H has some more sets now, though, which is nice.

Edit: I ordered Surge and Splitface. Couldn't help myself. Should arrive the 27th or the 28th. Maybe the 29th if they're busy with Christmas stuff.

Edit 2: Does Bulk have a silver MTIS piece? Ahahahahahaha.
