Aanchir Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Don't know about Thornraxx, but something tells me Reapa's going to use that extra limb piece from Waspix to connect the chest armor (and possible the head). He obviously uses a Hero skeleton torso, so the limb piece could connect to that, and the size 3 shells connect to the ball joints on it. If that piece is used, his head would also probably attach to it as well using the joint on the center of that piece. Not sure how the lower size 3 shell would connect, though. Kalhiki The lower shell could possibly just attach with a 3M bone piece (same kind used for Fire Lord's neck). I love non-traditional builds like many of the villains use, although I worry about them sometimes because, being non-traditional, it's harder to predict how they'll look from all angles. I'm pretty sure Thornraxx and Jawblade have mostly-cohesive designs, but Reapa I'm less certain about. Wish we had new pics of the small and mid-size sets' packaging... Quote

Kalhiki I hadn't even thought of him using the Waspix arm piece, that actually makes a lot of sense. It explains the bald joint behind his head. The lower armor coukd be attached the same way Fangz extra armor attached, using a technic peg and a ball piece. A simple mock up matches the picture pretty closely so I think that is the culprit. Dorek Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Typical BZP, banning these pics even though they're pretty legit =P I was actually thinking that Furno uses that arm piece to connect his jet turbines. It's possible that Reapa uses it too, but if I can tell the depth correctly, what Aanch said makes more sense. Quote

The Waspix piece would make sense for that. But the lower torso shell wouldn't work the same way, so I was suggesting how it could be attached. It's nice to see that piece more widely used, if that is what is being used. It's kind of annoying how Waspix is the only current set using it. Quote
ZORK64 Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 First of all: What is that so-called "Waspix piece"? Since I don't own Waspix I'm curious what kind of exclusive piece might own... I think I should check more often on this topic, since I was totally unaware of the new pics. Black Phantom looks definitely better now, and I really like his overall design. Depending on his price, odds are somewhat good that I'll get him (unlike Witch Doctor and Rocka XL). Surge and Breez are probably my favourite heroes of this wave. About the villains, I'm still unsure which I like the most. All three of them got nice pieces, though. But I still demand that new rounded armour piece (as used on Breez's shoulders) in white. Quote

Aethersprite Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 I'm fairly confident that the armor is size 6. It seems to extend one stud length past the armor attached onto it, which is true of both 6 & 7, but 7 would cause issues with the tail. A quick mock up makes me think that Jawblade is going to be a pretty good set all around. I am a fan of nontraditional builds like his. Speaking of Jawblade - can anyone spot if he has lower body armour, like Raw-Jaw? The attachment of his back armour seems to suggest not. Quote
The Crazy One Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 (edited) I am actually really liking the diversity of villains in this wave. In all seriousness I have more problem with the Heros now. I hate the white on them. I am also not to keen on the mix and max colour scheme of Surge, or the patchy feel of Rocka. Easily changeable but annoying. I mean, I don't even want Surge to be honest, but Rocka's mask is too awesome to pass up on. I am also loving Black Phantom now. He grows on you. Edited October 17, 2011 by The Crazy One Quote

Nobody's linked any (I think Grogall uploads hi-res images at his own discretion, as he's never posted Hero Factory set pics), but there are some at the website Bricker.ru. Dorek Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Oh god those hi-res pics are glorious. They're all so much want. Somebody should make a gallery of them. Quote

M-B-W Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 No, but I don't think they'd be losing sleep over it either. Kids will probably accept that they're robots that superficially resemble people and leave it at that. They won't be worried about whether the parts that resemble people like mouths or muscle-shaped armor serve any functional purpose. Do kids worry about why robots in the Mega Man series tend to resemble humans so closely? Did we have any previous Bionicle or Hero Factory set with muscles? No. I thought so. We should keep it that way. Quote

Aanchir Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Really? Oh! Guess the version of his gallery I had cached on my computer was out-of-date. It only had the smaller versions. Nice to have them all in one gallery in any event. Quote
The Dor Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Speaking of Jawblade - can anyone spot if he has lower body armour, like Raw-Jaw? The attachment of his back armour seems to suggest not. He does not- the armor is attached in the only place lower body armor would attach. Thornraxx why won't you reveal your secrets I think it may be a new torso piece. It appears the hip portion of a standard torso is connected to the tail and wings. And there seems to be some variety of armor on the back, but there is clearly not room for an entire normal torso. And the Waspix piece is clearly attached to a bit that has no joint ends which would not be present on a standard skeleton, and I can't think of how it would attach to one... Did we have any previous Bionicle or Hero Factory set with muscles? No. I thought so. We should keep it that way. This argument is invalid. The "muscles" of these sets look like armor plating, which BIONICLE certainly had. Bionicle also had mechanical components meant to look like muscle. And new things are not always bad, and acting like a child about things you dislike certainly isn't going to be changing any minds ;) Really? That gallery didn't have those images until after Aanchir had posted them, as far as I'm aware. (Meso's post seems to confirm this) Quote
Mesonak Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Yeah, Aanchir still found them first. Once he made his post, I replaced the images (which are now inferior in quality) in my gallery with the Hi-res ones that he found. Was going to make a post stating this but I had to take care of some business away from the comp. Sorry! Quote
Kalhiki Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Glad to see they don't have defined abs. Looks more like armor now. I just felt the abs looked out of place. Can't stop looking at the eye-searing high res pics! Kalhiki Quote

Vinyl Scratch Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 oh gawd. furno has a bayonet. aww yeah. Thornraxx build is weird as ever. And I spy a new blade piece on Splitface. And what the heck is Splitface/Surge's background? Looks like Moon from Black Ops's Nazi Zombies. Quote

vexorian Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Do we know for sure yet whether this is the last wave or not? The multi-environment trait gives me the vibes that this is the last one. Why have a multi-environment wave when it is possible to use each of those environments in a later wave? Quote
Aanchir Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Do we know for sure yet whether this is the last wave or not? The multi-environment trait gives me the vibes that this is the last one. Why have a multi-environment wave when it is possible to use each of those environments in a later wave? I don't know. Perhaps they have reason to suspect that multiple environments on the box art will sell more sets? After all, early 2009 wasn't BIONICLE's last wave, but it had very diverse environmental backgrounds. Same with 2001. Other years as well, but with them the environments tended to share an obvious common factor, like the Bohrok nests on Bohrok canisters, the eroded landscape on Bohrok-Kal canisters, etc. TLG hasn't been entirely consistent with when it makes its background art more diverse and when it does not-- I imagine both the setting of the story and how setting-specific the designs are factor into that decision. Personally, since the theme is Breakout, I wouldn't be surprised if the whole wave takes place in and around Makuhero City. We already have seen Black Phantom in the Assembly Tower or something like it. And Makuhero City's landscape (as seen here) has plenty of waterways. The jungle background for Toxic Reapa and Evo and the weird giant beehive for Thornraxx and Breez don't really resemble parts of the city we have seen, but I still think that it would be a cool setting. Front Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 My memory tells me that there is a set with the so-called waspix-piece used twice Quote
