Aethersprite Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Wait, why there's only one boxed set (Stormer XL)? There's another villain called (apparently) Speeda Demon, who's not been revealed yet. All in due time. *crosses fingers for exclusive* Quote

vexorian Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Squid, that way it can stay true to the original octopus concept, but be fast like a speed demon. Quote
Chewk Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 If I'm not late to the party, I'm guessing Hero Factory 5.0 deals with them going inside a computer, Tron-style. Quote
Nightcruise Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 What octopus concept? Yeah, I'm a bit lost with that. Chewk, this is pretty much wave number two under the breakout banner. Quote
Cap'tanZarWolf Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Are we sure that we're only getting 8 sets this summer? Seems kind of disappointing to me, especially since there's no sign of that purple villain from the TV episode yet. Quote
Mesonak Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Are we sure that we're only getting 8 sets this summer? Seems kind of disappointing to me, especially since there's no sign of that purple villain from the TV episode yet. The purple villain from the TV show is Voltix. Quote
Aethersprite Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 The purple villain from the TV show is Voltix. I'm just crossing my fingers that they repaint BP's head purple. Please, Lego? Anyway, I just had a brainwave. With all the spare Hero cores we're getting in the villain sets - perhaps we can use them to adorn Core Hunter, to make him true to his name. Quote

Dorek Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 5.0 pics already, huh? Damn XP. However, it obviously continues the line, so it's definitely something to look forward to. I still need to find some first wave 2012 sets. Quote
MakutaNocturn Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Holy cow look at it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBt_hpbD318&context=C3197b5cADOEgsToPDskI59V0nRedPqWlEKocqFw0f Quote

Shakar Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 I can sum up my thoughts as: awesome villains+Stormer, lame Heroes. What's up with the messy colour schemes? What's up with the chest plates not being coloured like the helmets (And I thought the white on Furno into was bad, at least that one is replaceable)? Why they didn't use all the awesome new pieces like the round shoulder pads and the energy shields (I wanted at least a tr. blue shield on Stormer : ( ) ? Why there are only 8 sets? I'm disappoint. Quote
nuparu51 Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 I'm not quite sure how I feel about them. The villains and Stormer are great, but the other three heroes... not so much. They all have the potential to be great. If they changed around the colors and maybe fix Nex's Helmet a bit, they would be fine. Quote
Vinyl Scratch Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 I know, people are talking about Summer 2012 sets right now but. I remember someone wanted one: That helmet o_o Quote
Aethersprite Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 (edited) That helmet o_o Was going to post that but you beat me to it! Looks like I may have to try to free up some money for this guy now. The helmet is very interesting, nice to see them use the side axles on the Glatorian head. Omicron Squad Leader Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 (edited) I know, people are talking about Summer 2012 sets right now but. I remember someone wanted one: That helmet o_o Am I the only one who finds that guy's background music REALLY annoying now? He's used the same track for about a year... Anyway, I thought you guys might like these pictures: If anyone wants me to do a review on any of these, or still has any picture requests, just let me know. On the note of the summer sets, the villains are good, the heroes are bad (with the exception of Stormer XL), and I'm disappointed that we're only getting 8 sets. Also, 'Speeda Demon'? MakutaDreadscythe Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Well, I'm surprised to see pictures so early, so in any case, my thoughts in general. Nex: Well, I hope the colours are rearranged at some point, though out of all the small scale heroes this one has the most continuity with the original white/orange colour scheme, though by now I'm used to the silver so I just don't know what to think. Stringer: Now this guy looks cool. His colour scheme needs to be revised a bit (why the blue?) but overall I think he looks great. Bulk: Errrrrmmmmm...what to say about this guy. Well, I dunno really. At least he's bulky for once, though that's kinda blown out the water with Stormer XL. If I'm honest, I don't know what exactly he is. It's too poor quality and the design seems cluttered... XT4: ...that is until I saw this guy...I have absolutely nothing to say here. Core Hunter: This is cool, definitely. The mix of red and black is never bad, and those spikes, that armour, it's like a mix of all the big villains we've had like Black Phantom and Witch Doctor in canister (well, mid-bag) size, but like 2x the awesome. This guy will rock your megabloks! Voltix: Very much a U-turn from the awesomeness that is Core Hunter, this guy just looks dum and cluttered. Why does he use the Black Phantom mask? Why is his colour scheme so wrong? It just looks plain bad... Stormer XL: This is where I get undecisive. I'm happy that we get a hero with a NORMAL colour scheme (looks at Voltix) and I love some of the new pieces, but some things bother me. His size is just ridiculous, so I'm hoping that there's a smaller scale Stormer. His arms look very cluttered with those wing accesory pieces, and finally, what is up with his legs? They look awful compared to the Rocka XL design, with the hollowness on one side and thin-ness on the other. Favourite Set: Core Hunter Very much looking forward to this guy. Least Favourite Set: Voltix Ugh...just...ugggghhhhh... Quote
Mesonak Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 @Omicron: Thanks for the group shot pictures. Any chance we could get reviews/individual pictures of Thornraxx and Breez? Quote
Darth Nihilus Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 My thoughts can be divided into three categories: Awful and okay. And goddamn frickin' cool. Awful: Every normal-sized Hero except Stringer. Okay: Stringer, Volton, and Stormer XL. Goddamn frickin' cool: Core Hunter and XL4 (I think that's his name?). Undecided: Speeda Demon. Those Heroes are awful. Yes, they are preliminary, but still Quote
Omicron Squad Leader Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 @Omicron: Thanks for the group shot pictures. Any chance we could get reviews/individual pictures of Thornraxx and Breez? I think Brickthing is working on a Thornraxx review, so I won't steal his thunder , but I'll happily put together a Breez review. Quote
ZORK64 Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Graaah, all those new pics and I don't have the time to discuss them now! I just got Breez today and I was wondering if anybody else already decided to review her. If not, I'll write a review today. Quote
SpiderSpaceman Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 I support this idea. But I don't want Core Drainer to have the Hero Cores attached to his body. Quote
Shakar Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Splitface looks great, I just agree with Legojang when he said some parts should have been black. Nothing hard to modify, however. I really think I like the gunmetal side more- I'm going to buy at least 2 of him! >:3 @Omicron: thanks for the pics! Personally I'd just like some more pics of Splitface- Thornraxx, Surge and Breez (the sets seen in video reviews only) are going to be in my hands in less than a week, and we already have very clear pics of the other 6 sets. On the summer sets again. So yeah, I focused too much on criticizing the negative things in the previous post (hey, a Virgo is a Virgo). I'll try to analyze the pics with a more optimist mind: Stormer XL: Talk about an Ascended Meme! I like him for the most part, I just wish he had some more one of the shields from Rocka and Breez(e) in tr. dark blue or tr. medium blue. Having that piece only in two colours is a waste, I think. I didn’t notice it previously, but he has some sort of tri-blade giant sword- NICE! Anyway, he looks great. Definitely getting him. I love the three villains, they definitely are on par with Black Phantom's gang- I hope Speed Demon is just as good as BP himself, if not better. Voltix has GLORIOUS PURP-ER, LILAC and some great recoloured pieces, Xt4 looks creepily cool and has a bizarrely awesome name, and Core Hunter is just BADASS REINCARNATE. I feel the Heroes are a..waste. The Winter 2012 wave introduced great pieces (the shoulder pads, the shield, the ammo belt) and created/solidified great concepts (the extensive use of tr. colours, the creative customization of the guns like seen on Evo/Furno/Rocka). These guys have…none of these things. Nex is probably the worst of the trio. The proportions are horrible- yes, he uses Evo’s and Surge’s structure, but each of them had at least one bulky and tall shoulder that made them look fine. Nex’s arms are puny and he has a long looking torso and a fairly long helmet- in other words, he looks bad. And the white…I’m happy for its return because I liked Nex 2.0’s colour scheme far more than Nex 3.0’s, but it’s slapped on so randomly it’s hard to appreciate. Bulk..not bad, but not as badass as Bulk 3.0 either. And the colour scheme is awful- silver, white, tr. orange, tr. green…yuck. PLEASE LET THE WHITE PARTS BE STAND INS FOR SILVER, MORE FINALIZED PARTS, THANKS LEGO. I never had anything against white, but 2012 Heroes, with its inappropriate presence in their armour, are making me hate it (save Breez, but I’m beginning to have doubts even on her). Stringer is the best of the trio, at least I can say that. He looks good and he doesn’t seem to have any white in him, thank God. I’m very happy he wields a silver gun, but I think a gunmetal one would be better for him- which is absolutely perfect, I’ll just switch his gun with Surge’s so both will improve. But…the blue. What. The. Hell. I wish it were a prototype, but the Zamor whatever-name-they're-going-to-come-up-with-this-time- is blue, and he has a tr. medium blue head. :/ I am most likely going to get the Heroes, but I will modify them far more compared to the light mods I plan to give to the Winter Heroes.
