nuparu51 Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 I went to my local TRU yesterday and picked up Reapa and Surge. Reapa is an excellent! Surge, however, isn't as good as Evo. Quote
Aethersprite Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Blue does indeed go well nicely with black, I just hope it's in a dark enough shade to not stand out so much. Quote
Aanchir Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 I'm going to be bothered by Stringer's color scheme from a continuity perspective, but I'm sure he'll still look OK with it and fit his motif well enough. It's not as though orange is a color closely associated with sonic/musical powers. On that note, I hope his chest pattern, along with the others in his wave, does, in fact, reflect his original element/theme. That's a trait I liked about the first wave of Breakout. Breez is the only possible exception, but her chest pattern is awesome enough and matches her set design well enough that I don't mind. Quote

Cirkit Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Here are three pics of stinger What video did this come from? Stringy looks friggin' awesome! It appears he has an arm-cannon as well.. reminiscent of the first version.. nice. I'm not as bothered by the lack of orange as I should be, but black and blue together is a pretty great scheme, so.. cool. Cirkit Quote
Aanchir Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 I believe when he appeared in that line up his chest pattern was a series of sound waves so I think he still follows his element. Hmmm, you're right. I hadn't noticed him in that lineup. I'm a bit worried how he'll look with the blue, based on that pic. I had hoped that having his entire torso piece blue was just preliminary, but here it looks finalized. The way his color scheme is arranged seems out-of-place next to Stormer and the first-wave heroes. I'm more than a little disappointed that not one but two summer heroes appear in the TV special from the looks of things, and yet Breez gets dropped. I just don't understand the reasoning there. And it makes me worry that perhaps there will only be one TV special for the 2012 sets, and that Breez, Nex, and Bulk will be completely omitted. Of course, it's also entirely possible that for some reason TLG and the scriptwriters decided they wanted a team of six for this special, and the heroes here were chosen just for color scheme reasons. But that still doesn't totally make sense to me, since it leaves unanswered the question of how a TV episode would then advertise the omitted heroes, unless they plan to reuse three heroes between the episodes. If they were to do that, the reused heroes would probably be Stormer, Furno, and Rocka... but would they really do something like that and take the spotlight away from the new sets they plan to advertise? I've basically lost touch with TLG's reasoning with this thing. I just pray that whatever it is doesn't depend on Breez being completely removed from the TV episode or episodes for 2012. Quote
Dorek Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 (edited) So, built Surge and Splitface. Surge is pretty generic, but his color scheme is less chaotic than I would have figured. And dat recolor <3 Splitface is baller. The only issue I have with him is the neck. With the axle joint, it allows for neck movement, but is too long overall. Replacing it with a ball only socket makes it look a bit better, but limits the neck movement too much. Ah well. The rest of him is aweeesome. The face pieces are too cool. A bit smaller than the art made him look, but still of a good size. Good to see they included a Hero Core too. Edited December 28, 2011 by Dorek Quote

Its hard for me to see it myself. looks like a new pics for the shoulders and I can figure out how they make his gun on the cover. I also cant make out Nex secondary weapon, any ideas guys? Also Bulk got a neck guard which I think its funny Quote
Mesonak Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 (edited) Just got word from Customer Service that Breez and Thornraxx are expected to be available for purchase on January 1st. So for some odd reason, they withheld those two sets from US shipments and their website until the beginning of the year, while releasing the rest of the wave weeks ahead of schedule. Whatever, at least they'll be available soon. Also, @Dorek: Good to hear that Splitface is a good set overall. I'm interested in picking two of him up eventually. MakutaDreadscythe Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Here you go Does anyone else think they should release that riff as a mini MP3 on the site? It's starting to get really catchy... Quote

Maybe some issue with a part that they caught right before shipment? It's happened before, though usually after the fact. The omission from the TV episode, however, is probably the weirder thing; maybe the two incidents are entirely unrelated XP. And yeah, Splitface is pretty great. Once I've picked up everything else, I'll probably want a second (or thiiiiird?). These bags are pretty big, though, I was surprised. Quote

Zwen Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 0:49 (Surge Vs. Splitface) You can see the design on Stringer's chest... As I said, there are soundwaves (silver or white). It looks like fingerprint, this version of Jimmy looks really odd, but it could work... Quote

Vinyl Scratch Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 I was looking at the Summer 2012 - Breakout: Part 2 sets, and I noticed that XT4 has a giant buzzsaw in his/her right arm And that Voltix either uses Black Phantom's helmet as a recolor or the helmets with the side-slots for the spikes like Black Phantom has aren't out of use so far Quote
Cirkit Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Here you go Thanks! I noticed that the Villains at the start of the video are animated differently from the other fleeing villains in the trailer.. and the Heroes are already upgraded. Promotional purposes, maybe? Phantom looks absolutely awesome at the start, just clubbing EVO to one side.. and I wouldn't have thought it, but Sharkblade, with the hands, looks pretty awesome too. What's weird is that they say 'the greatest heroes ever', and list Surge and Evo. Stormer I could imagine, Furno's pretty easy to place as a 'great' Hero, but Surge.. eh. Again, I bet it's for promotional purposes only. I do hope there is more than one episode this time around.. I don't want to see a bunch of good looking sets to come out, only for them to be abandoned from the show completely. Thanks again for the link! :) Quote

Darth Nihilus Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Now that I looked over the pics again, I'm really hating Stormer XL. He deserves better than this. Seriously, they hung his cuffs in between his legs. Quote
Aanchir Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Now that I looked over the pics again, I'm really hating Stormer XL. He deserves better than this. Seriously, they hung his cuffs in between his legs. Ummm... no. They didn't. They're clipped to the outside of his right leg. The only reason they look like they're between his legs is because they dangle behind it. Stormer XL is pretty awesome, but I'd have to see the final set to gauge whether I like the design. It'll definitely take some warming up to since I'm already a bit iffy about the medium-sized Hero sets. Quote
Zwen Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Actually I like Stormer XL quite a lot. First, because is just Stormer, and this upgrade is beyond the others. Second, again this upgrade is the jump for the standard hero building, is not a titan set but is bigger and stronger than a normal hero, now, imagine the posibilities in size, weapons, etc. I'm really sure about how to buid the new Stormer and is quite interesting, despite of the Hulk chest it could work for a lot of heroes... Cirkit Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Since I can't seem to find an 'Official Hero Recon' topic, or anything really like it, I think I should post this here. After a long period of just guy names, the Hero Recon site finally has the option of giving your Hero (from the Hero Creator) feminine names! The names added include Brooke, Ella, Faith, Heather, Holly, Hope, Jane, Jennifer, Sally, and Summer. The title "Queen" has also been added to the codename list. If someone already posted this, I apologize. I am just so thrilled about it. Now all I'm waiting for is the inclusion of the larger no. 5 plates for use on the arms/legs.. :) -Cirkit Quote
MakutaDreadscythe Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Okay, sorry to disagree, but I can't stress enough how much Stormer XL bugs me. His arms are too short, those plane things make his arm look like a scorpion tail (I know it sounds cool, but trust me, it isn't) and those legs are awful how they're so hollow. Please fix them for ToyFair... Quote

The problems may just be due to the stupidly large chest though... Edited December 29, 2011 by MakutaDreadscythe Quote
