Masta' Blasta' Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 (edited) I'm sort of dissapointed. If you compare that to Furno's bike, it just shows how much more limited the new style is. EDIT: And looky there. Stormer's villain, just as we had been guessing. Edited January 14, 2012 by Masta' Blasta' Quote
Vinyl Scratch Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Oh man, Speeda Demon has a purple Skrall Armor piece. Nevermind what I said, Speeda Demon is a good set. Quote
Ceroknight Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Speeda Demon actually looks like the best villain! Also loving the purple bike! Quote
The Iron Knight Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 After taking another look at this image, I've noticed that Stringer's eyes look pretty dark for the regular trans-light blue Glatorian head we've gotten from Strakk, Stormer, and some others. More new Glatorian head colors for the summer, maybe? Quote
Masta' Blasta' Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 (edited) Voltix and Speeda both have a new electric piece (Similar to Surge's weapon). Interesting. I don't know. Speeda is a good set, but I still think they shouldn't have used a motorcycle, it just shows how much more limited the new system is. But yeah, it's still nice. Plenty of purple, lime, gold, and a few transparent pieces. Several new pieces that I spy, as well. EDIT: But I don't like the overuse of BP's helmet. 3 sets with it! Metalshadow Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Speeda Demon is really, really underwhelming. After taking another look at this image, I've noticed that Stringer's eyes look pretty dark for the regular trans-light blue Glatorian head we've gotten from Strakk, Stormer, and some others. More new Glatorian head colors for the summer, maybe? Hopefully with the new joint structure, too. Quote
Dorek Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 I doubt the new joint structure, but a new color wouldn't be unwelcome. Anyhow, I hope Stormer comes with an extra pair of cuffs. Speeda Demon has four hands. Quote
Aanchir Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Sorry, I didn't take any pics of the ninjago. But I can say the serpent bike or something like that is pretty lame because it's squarish-looking. But hey. HEY. There you go There is some better pics of the other sets too, but if you need some more info, for example, core hunter's head has many details, including six eyes. Thanks for the pics. Stringer definitely looks Bright Blue (Mata Blue), but it could be a new color. If it is I'm not sure how I'd feel about it since it seems so very similar to the Bright Blue we know and love, but maybe the difference is greater in real life. Speeda Demon looks cool and very unique. I wish his bike were as stylish as the Furno Bike though. It feels a lot less cohesive. Even with the new building system they can do better I'm sure. Maybe finalized pics will show it in a better light, but in this pic it's a bit cluttered looking. Love the jet engine, though. Stormer XL's shoulder shells seem to be solid blue in this pic-- the same color as Stringer's torso-- but they look transparent fluorescent blue in the TV episodes. So I wouldn't call all the colors confirmed just yet. All the heroes look excellent, and I'm sure they'll look even moreso in finalized pics. Villains also look nice, though Voltix's color scheme is crazy. Hopefully some of his yellow will be transparent in the final thing... that'd make him a lot better-looking IMO. Quote
VBBN Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 OH Now that is something I like the looks of FOR PARTS But I feel like that BP head is going to get on my nerves I was waiting for them to put the Ninjago blades on one of these guys But who cares, purple<3 On a side note, looks like stringer indeed is yet another shade of blue that is not metru or purple. -.- Quote
Omicron Squad Leader Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Ha, I was right. Still, Speeda Demon is a little underwhelming as a set, but I'm loving the parts. By the way, Shaddow, where did you get the catalogue? Aren't you just a regular LEGO fan? Quote

By the way, Shaddow, where did you get the catalogue? Aren't you just a regular LEGO fan? I am ! I can't tell what my source is, though, sorry. I don't have the catalogue with me, I just had the possibility to take a look at it. Quote
Kalhiki Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Speed Demon is... I'm not sure. Part of me likes him, but the other part is... Eh. The colors are nice. Lime and Purple go well together. And I do like four armed characters. But honestly, I don't really like it. I'm not seeing myself picking this one up. Now that I'm seeing clearer pictures, I can definitely say I'll be getting them all except for Nex and Speeda. Even with chest printing, there's no looking past that white torso on Nex. I was on the fence about Bulk, and still am. But I'm a Bulk fan, so I'll probably get him. Stormer is Stormer, so I'll get him no matter what. Core Hunter looks pretty nice. From the other preliminary picture, I couldn't really make anything out, but now he looks awesome. Really want to see more of the Helmet. XT4 is still cool. Really want to see how he's built. And Voltix has purple and looks awesome all around. Also want to see more of that shin guard piece. I've been dreaming about about a 1.0 style ankle guard piece, and hopefully this will be something close to what I'm looking for. Kalhiki Quote
VBBN Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Seems like he should be a store exclusive, as he doesnt actually have any parts that cant be found on any of the other sets Quote

Shakar Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 (edited) Oh God. Speeda Demon is so crazy and awesome. So much that I've finally started to call him Speeda, because that extra "a" is just so fitting with the silly yet awesome feeling the set gives. Also, I love the colours- lime and gold go great together! And, of course, he rides a freaking purple bike. Great job Lego. The Heroes have no printing on their torsos I know printing limits MOCing potential, but I loved the designs on the Winter characters. But they look pretty cool- I still don't like their chestplates not matching with the colour of their helmets (except for Stormer), but I guess I'll get used to it (like Breakout Surge's lime for example- I own the set now, and I love his colour scheme). Nex still is my least favourite of the trio- too much white. Bulk- too much orange and gunmetal, seriosly he has 4 or so pieces in silver. Stringer, like I was suspecting, has a new shoulder armour piece (which looks pretty darn cool), and his guitargun looks great (I knooooow it's not a guitar, but that idea a few pages back was so cool it's going to stay in my headcanon)! I'm not going to say anything about the blue, first I want to figure out the meaning of Front's (shameless ) teasing. Stormer..not much to say. I liked the set before and I like it now, but since it's a just a clearer version of the first pic I can't say more than that. Anyway, I think some of this stuff may be preliminary. Why? Stringer and Stormer had sonic waves/ice-like armour decorations in that web episode (where did those come from if they have no printing on the sets?), and Bulk's gunmetal pieces look unfishined like some of Black Phantom's armour on the first catologue pic we got. But this is probably just wishful thnking... Could you post a clearer pic of the villains trio? Meanwhile, I'll just say that Voltix is cool but he hasn't enough purple (then again, there's Joker to fix that!), Core Hunter somwhow reminds me of a scarab and XT4 rocks (and he's a 9 Euro set! I'm so going to buy at least 2 of him!). Ah, just read that you do not have the catalogue with you. Oh well, I'll wait for better pics in the future. Edited January 14, 2012 by Shakar Quote
Nike2032 Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 (edited) Hmm... mixed opinions. Still can't get over how Bulk and Nex have a very similar colour scheme (silver/white and orange) and I'm disappointed that we only get one innovative/new weapon (Nex's laser). Stringer has an appealing colour scheme to me but again, his only weapon is a slightly altered version of the new launcher. Voltix is good, but I do feel that there are too many colours on him (I mean white, yellow, red, dark grey and purple all on one set ) However, I must say that he does have some particularly interesting new pieces and the fact that he's one of the first sets to have a large amount of purple pieces is a huge pro. I'm probably not gonna pick up either Stormer or Speeda Demon, but I have to admit that a lot of thought and new pieces have been put into them and they are very good sets IMO. It's just that XL sets and bikes don't really appeal to me. XT4 and Core Hunter are the higlights of the next wave for me. Core Hunter just seems well made - good colour scheme, new helmet, fairly good weapons (but his melee weapon could have been more inventive), while XT4 has a an entirely new build. I've never seen a set (except Kiina) that hasn't used a proper torso before and I love his buzzsaw and laser (as I do of Nex, but his overall appearance puts me off on buying him). Pretty good wave, but my real complaint is that there isn't many new pieces like the Winter wave where we got a mace, shield, more new helmets, acid piece on Toxic Reapa, weapon belt, new shoulder armour and a sword piece. Whereas this wave we've got the buzzsaw, another new sword, laser and the electric pieces. Sets could change during their final release of course, but I can't imagine TLC changing their weapons. These are preliminary photos; I can gurantee you that the chests will have printing on them. Quote
Shakar Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 (edited) I mentioned Stringer later in my post: nyway, I think some of this stuff may be preliminary. But I sure hope you're right. I forgot, what's the deal with XT4's lower legs? They seem to feature a new cladding piece. I'm also puzzled by Voltix's thigh armour. Edited January 14, 2012 by Shakar Quote
Nightcruise Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Core Hunter seems to be the real star out of the villain sets. As for Speed Demon, I was expecting more of a Flash like color scheme and a different helmet. Though the purple on bike is really nice to see. I'll probably get XT4 and Voltix and keep them with Core Hunter. The others are going to made nice additions to my parts collection. Quote

I still think Stringer's weapon is a guitar; that's how he seems to be holding it in some of the pics, and I feel it can't be a coincidence. As for Bulk, I don't see any gunmetal on him besides his gun, the "rifle" pieces on his shoulder weapon, and maybe the shell detail pieces on his lower legs. All his other shells seem to be either orange or silver. I don't think it's wishful thinking at all. Bulk's parts shouldn't look at all like BP's armor from the retailer's catalog, since all the Hero pics are renders rather than photos, but as for your other concerns I expect all the Heroes will have chest patterns-- no reason not to at this point. Preliminary photos don't always show the same stage of development for sets by any means-- remember that the preliminary fire villains all were photos, none of them had printed shells, and all of them had transparent fluorescent reddish orange shells, whereas the preliminary villains we saw for the first Breakout wave were almost completely finalized. That would be very cool if it is, as it brings in some good personality for the heroes. And, in turn is a nod to Transformers Animated Soundwave Quote
Bfahome Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 lego you beautiful beautiful company Speeda Demon became a must-have immediately - purple motorcycle - electricity everywhere - four arms - giant gold sabers Quote
Bundalings Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Look good. Just a few things of note. Stormer's feet are... odd. I'd like to see them at a different angle but I don't see the piece used in anything else. Stormer's blade is also confirmed to just be two blades - like Batman's/Breez's - connected with a cam. I can't tell what piece is armoring Speeda's torso... Interesting new cladding detail on Stringer's shoulders. blarg too much black phantom head Quote
Aethersprite Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Thanks for the pics! I fully expect all the Heroes to have printing, though. My opinion on most of them hasn't changed. Core Hunter looks really good, though I still don't like the constant reusing of the 2.0 villain blades. Good to see that we're getting silver and black recolours of the 2.0 shield piece, though. And with so many pics of Voltix, you'd think we'd get to see his feet already! Speeda Demon is... Ehh. A little underwhelming. IMO the lime green doesn't really fit well with him. Still, it's the first vehicle done in the 2.0 system! Rejoice! Hopefully this is a sign for things to come. Quote
Play With Fire Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Speeda Demon... has a red head? Looks like it to me. Also I think Stringer has a darker blue head. Overall I don't like Speeda Demon, or most of these sets in general. But at least I'll be able to make a generic Z'chayan from the Breakout game if I get Speeda Demon. For some reason I really wanted to make one of those. But what's with all the Voltix hate? His colors look fine to me. Quote
