Shakar Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 The new update for LDD is available! I'm very happy, as (in Extended Mode) it also includes the new Hero Factory elements as well (I didn't check much, but I did see the three new helmets+the other 3 2010 Hero helmets that have been reused, the hexagon shield piece, the two parts for the new zamor gun, the rounded shoulder pad piece). I haven't noticed stuff like the new villains headpieces or Breez’s katana yet, I hope it's just me not paying attention (looking for pieces in Extended Mode is so difficult, all the pieces are in one colour ). However, I noticed something weird in LDD mode (I can't take a screen capture right now, sorry). Did anyone else notice a silver Black Phantom helmet and a black Surge helmet, next to the same parts in their regular colours? Quote
_shaddow_ Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 I tried to modelize the new piece the way I see it. I already see some errors in my model (the ball cannot be a complete one), so it's not likely to be the exact look, but I think it's near what we're going to have this summer. Quote

Did anyone else notice a silver Black Phantom helmet and a black Surge helmet, next to the same parts in their regular colours? Superkalle has an LXF containing all the new parts here which should make it easier to find parts like Breez's sword. Interestingly, the new Thornax launcher half piece is not present, but instead what looks like a prototype version is used (shorter than the classic one but still with two connection points). LDD mode doesn't entirely stick to parts in colors that they existed in, so don't count on it to forecast new parts. I think the parts in it are probably just chosen based on what will be attractive and helpful from a creative standpoint and not what exists in real life. Slightly bad news for HF fans: all of the new torso decorations for early 2012 (besides Joker's) are on the new version of LDD, but unfortunately the torso they go on has no decoration surfaces programmed. Hopefully a future update will fix that. I've used the new parts to test how Breez might look if modded to a 22-module tall Hero build. Most things work out OK (she looks amazing), but unfortunately the shin shells and feet collide unless they're spaced apart a fair amount. Hopefully the real set will allow some wiggle room if I should choose to mod the set. It's also hard to get her shield attached to her arm if I shorten the forearms, which would be a harder problem to fix... but again, maybe the final set would allow more wiggle room. As it is it fits on a 5M forearm but limits posability. Edited January 18, 2012 by Aanchir Quote

I saw Breez's sword, it was fairly near the begninning of the weapon/armor list. It was kind of hard to notice being one color though. I didn't see any villain parts either, sadly. I wanted to use some of Black Phantom's parts. Quote

This piece could easily help covering the hollow backs of heroes and villains. I'm wondering when the new parts from the Breakout series will reach the Recon Team builder... Quote
Dorek Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 I do note that the LDD update features a size three trans-light blue armor piece; wonder what that's all about? Quote
Aethersprite Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Just saw - for people that have the set, is it true that Breez's helmet is in a darker shade of lime green than the other pieces? Quote
Nightcruise Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 I do note that the LDD update features a size three trans-light blue armor piece; wonder what that's all about? Perhaps a peak into something the new Stormer set might have. I just hope its not a goof up, I badly want some type of trans blue HF armor parts. Quote
Mesonak Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 The trans-blue armor piece is in there for the same reason a silver Black Phantom helmet, a black Surge helmet, purple bones, a dark red torso, etc. are in there. Lego added a wider variety of pre-set color options to the normal LDD mode now that you can't buy anything. Why? Not sure. But we likely won't be getting those pieces (at least in the summer wave). Shakar Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 (edited) Thank you for your help, Aanchir! I thought the weirdly coloured parts were some sort of glitch or something else, I never counted on them being real life pieces in the future. Shame, though- A black Surge helmet would rock. I tried to do the same thing as you did (shorter arm+hexagon shield), but I didn't manage to do it. Having both her and Rocka, however, I can tell you that the shorter forearm+hexagon shield+size 5 shoulder armour combo is very much possible, however the ball joint that connects the two shield pieces together needs to be rotated a bit. Just saw - for people that have the set, is it true that Breez's helmet is in a darker shade of lime green than the other pieces? Hmm..I just compared both helmets, and it seems the same exact shade to me.By the way, I got Toxic Reapa and Jawblade last Saturday, at the amazing price of 6,50 Euro each. I guess that is a temporary sale, and the sets will go back to being priced at 8-9 Euro by the end of the month, otherwise I'm going to buy lots of stuff from them the next time I go there . Oddly enough, only the 9 Euro sets were there (minus Thornraxx), so no 13 Euro sets nor BP. What a strange place, that was. Anyway, I only opened Toxic Reapa so far, I'm opening Jawblade another day so I don't burn up the sets too fast (no, I'm not going to bear with a sealed set in my house for so much time, I lent him to my dad to resist the temptation ). He's pretty cool, but as far as I am concerned he isn't nowhere as amazing as Thornraxx. Still, I love the neon green cladding and for the price I paid him for I really can't complain about anything. Shakar Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 Oh, sorry. How did I read that? Anyway, looking at it closely it is slightly darker, to be exact the other pieces are very slightly more on the yellow side while the helmet's shade is a bit more on the green side. But it is barely noticeable- if you didn't ask it, I would have never realized this. Quote

In the video the difference is quite obvious, although I didn't notice it before in Brickthing's pictures. Doesn't seem too major. Quote

Aanchir Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Darnit, I was looking for a wallpaper to replace the one I currently have (a LEGO City Space background). This one would be perfect if it didn't require me to move all my icons around... Back to the drawing board for me. Speaking of the drawing board, I've built (on LDD) and drawn a modded version of Breez I plan to make once her set is released. Main change I made is shortening the arms and legs, but there are other changes also. Can't wait for that set to be released in the U.S.! Quote

Aanchir Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 You, too? http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/SpiritOfTime/Bionicle/MOBCs/LDD/lddscreenshot1.jpg Back I've been waiting for a 2.0 Breez with the 1.0 helmet, and I'm glad they finally made one! My changes were mostly pretty subtle. The proportions were the main things I was concerned with: I kept the shoulder spheres, but shortened the shells they are attached to so that the lower arm could be shortened without the shield and upper arm shells colliding. All the shortening I did of the legs was in the lower legs, since I feel that makes her look more proportionate. I also removed the shell from her lower right arm-- I'd have kept the bone pieces white if I could have, but white 5M Hero Factory beams don't exist. It should be noted that shortening the legs this way causes a slight collision between the shin armor and the feet. On LDD it works fine though, and in real life it works fine if you pose it correctly-- it's just posing it that way on LDD is extremely fiddly and I don't consider it a worthwhile use of my time when the collision doesn't cause any problems in terms of loading or viewing the model. Quote
dviddy Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Yeah, she looks more realistically proportioned in the real set. Those legs are too short. Quote
Omicron Squad Leader Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Yeah, she looks more realistically proportioned in the real set. Those legs are too short. Aaaaaaaand the legs in the actual set look a little too long. I think I can make fair judgement as I have had the set for over a month. Quote
Play With Fire Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 The legs and torsos are just as long as the ones on the villains from the first wave... did anyone care back then? Quote
