Zarkan Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 (edited) ehh, the first born was Furno Jr. But he might get sisters later. Front, you win this topic. This is easily the cutest constraction figure MOC on Eurobricks since baby Zesk. Edited January 25, 2012 by Zarkan Quote

What is the topic going on. Breez's lack of femenine stuff? The helmet is very femenine-looking in my opinion. Quote
Aethersprite Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 (edited) ...HF really needs more love. Both Brickset and FBTB's reports on the UK Toy Fair didn't bother with HF at all. Anyone out there who's been there and seen the new sets? Edited January 26, 2012 by Lockon Stratos Quote
Mesonak Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Sadly, that's basically how the majority of the System community views HF (and how they always viewed BIONICLE) - Too unimportant to care about. Ironic, since HF is actually (arguably) easier to use with System due to its aesthetic style and whatnot. But that's a completely seperate discussion. The likelihood of any fans of HF giving us reports from the Fair is very unlikely. Though, honestly, it's not like we're going to see much this year, considering all of the sets will likely remain exactly the same (just look at the Breakout wave one prelims ). Regardless, looking forward to the Nuremberg Fair, where we'll hopefully see some pictures. Quote

Regardless, looking forward to the Nuremberg Fair, where we'll hopefully see some pictures. Well, aesthetically, Hero Factory works better with System than a lot of BIONICLE stuff did. But functionally, it's very difficult for many System builders to figure out how best to use it. Ball-joint-based connections, from what I've seen, are not immensely popular in System outside the mecha genre. Couple that with the fact that the high-detail designs of BIONICLE made them more suitable for greebling, which is the place where the AFOL community in general tends to welcome the use of such "obscure" parts. There have been some instances of Hero Factory parts being used well in System, but they don't really boost the appeal of the theme for the typical System builder better than any other instance of NPU would. A few parts might end up being considered desirable, but the same is true for themes like Belville, and that doesn't really matter much for how the sets as a whole are viewed. I wish TLG would resume putting Hero Factory parts in LEGO stores' Pick-A-Brick bins. I was very happy to hear that announcement last year, as it seems like an ideal way for Hero Factory builders to get parts they need and for System and Technic builders to investigate the usefulness of the new building system's parts at little cost to themselves. But it seems that was just a short-term promotion to advertise Hero Recon Team, as I have never been able to find Hero Factory parts in Pick-A-Brick bins no matter what LEGO stores I've been to. dviddy Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 She's a robot. Robots don't have genders. Robots don't have sexes. They don't have reproductive organs, or the biological necessity to reproduce. However, sex is not the same thing as gender, which is less biologically wired and is based more on personality and cultural assumptions. Your sex may help determine your gender, but your brain has more to say in that regard, and the interplay between your personality and the culture you live in will help determine it as well. Since the HF characters have AI, which means they have the robotic equivalent to free thought and will, equal in task and purpose to the human brain, and they have individual personalities, plus a culture that allows them to be of a different gendered mindset, they can, and do, have genders. Ironic, since HF is actually (arguably) easier to use with System due to its aesthetic style and whatnot. But that's a completely seperate discussion. To be honest the 2.0 system is awesome, is great and ever since 2.0 appeared around here I have dedicated most of my money to get more and more 2.0 pieces. But the second you move away from smaller-than-medium-sized robots with thin articulations it really, really fails. I am including large creatures, system MoCs, small creatures with bulkier armor (although I am getting close to getting something here). HF is great to build what it was designed to build. Other things not so much. In fact, I am not going to say this is fault with HF 2.0 system, but with the current molds available. Before you flood me with images, I am not saying it is impossible to do other things. I am just saying that it is very, very hard to come up with something that looks well and is out of HF's comfort's zone. It is specially clear in the web, I find it hard to find 2.0 shells used in any MoC that is not a bipedal hero or villain. Who knows though? Once HF usage in system sets like 9455 becomes more widespread, system fans might figure out how useful the bones can be. Edited January 27, 2012 by vexorian Quote

I've been wondering for a while if an instant rise in system compatibility could be achieved with a couple of parts analogous to and with the ball snap (below) replacing the pin. Hopefully, someone will tell us some information on it soon. I think you need a proper reason to go anyway, not just because you want to see the sets. Meh, only 4 days until the Nuremberg Toy Fair, from which we should get pictures/videos of a few of the sets. The New York one is very soon too, and from that, we'll get to see the whole range! Quote

Still can't wait to see the sets either way. Edited January 28, 2012 by Nike2032 Quote

Dorek Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Do we have any Russian fans of Hero Factory here? I ran across this site that's offering some kind of nifty extra package with purchases of 2012 sets. It sounds like it's just an extra pair of handcuffs and some Hex Energy Shield plates, but I could be wrong; I'd like to know a bit more about it. Quote
Play With Fire Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 (edited) Anybody remember that little Hero Factory booklet that came with a LEGO magazine back in 2010? It said in Surge's bio that "he fears he will end up going over to the side of evil." Think this might have any impact on the 2012 story or beyond? Edited January 29, 2012 by Play With Fire Quote
Dorek Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Unlikely. I think most of OoF was meant to resolve that particularly lingering plot thread. I doubt it will come up here. There's always the potential, if they really need the story idea, but it can just as easily be called "resolved", and left alone. Quote

As would I, this seems very interesting indeed and I believe we do have some Russian fans present, too. Hopefully one of them could shed some light on it - and if not, I'm sure this is something they'd appreciate knowing about if they didn't already. I'd love a pack like that with my purchase, if it is what is sounds like. Edited January 29, 2012 by Rocketbilly Quote
zewy623 Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 The translated text of that page using google page translator: "The unique offer for the purchase of new sets of Hero Factory . Dorek Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Yes, I read the google translation =P. I like how it's first translated to "suite" for some weird reason. But yeah, still would like to know. Quote

Dorek Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Same reason American TRU's gave away copies of Makuta's Guide with purchase of 2009 BIONICLE sets, and other TRU's didn't; localized promotions. Happens all the time. Usually on a less global scale, but still. Quote
Taaron Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Hey guys. Went out on the hunt for some Transformers, Breez and that Thornax critter, this morning. Toys R Us was a bit of a wasted trip, as they were in the middle of a restock / aisle reset. Stopped by Target and saw this: (picture is a link to a larger copy of the image.) Anyone else seen anything like this? Quote
Mesonak Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Yeah, all Targets (that I've seen, at least), are selling him for that price. Bit ridiculous, but at least now I know not to buy Splitface from Target if I want him. Quote

On my recent trip (Friday-Sunday) I went to a Target in Wisconsin, and they had Splitface at the regular price. Quote
