I will be attending the LEGO Collectors Preview, reporting on behalf of BIONICLEsector01 and HEROsector01. The admission badge arrived in the mail yesterday, and to say the very least I am pleased by these new upgrades.

I would.

About XT's color scheme. But I am fairy sure it is a drone worker gone mad. If so I think that yellow+bley is a fitting color scheme. Sure yellow+black would have been much better, but we have already have quite a ton of black+yellow characters.

TAKE AS MANY PICTURES OF THE HF SETS AS YOU CAN

Seriously, the rest of the community don't seem to be paying any attention to the new HF stuff.

BZPower will be there too (and I think Andrew might have wrangled real full ToyFair passes this year for him and whoever else is going with him). So there will be lots of coverage for those looking for HF sets.

Noooooo.

Just when I was starting to get into it.

I know right? I've ordered two of them and they're nice, if it wasn't for the shipping prices at Shop at Home I'd almost be tempted to say they were a good deal, albeit a little less now the exclusive chest plate has been removed. Still, good fun all around and it's a great experience recieving the set you designed online with its own box and instruction manual and whatnot.

I saw this coming a while back, though - what with the variety of hero sizes and the fact that now each Hero is more unique than back in 2011, when the differences were mainly colour scheme and equipment, thus making designing your own a lot less complex. A shame.

Unfortunate, though I can't say I'm entirely surprised (though for an altogether different reason0.

I fully expected Recon Team would either be replaced or discontinued due to how far the Breakout series stretches from their pre-existing template; they would have to completely revise the program in order to accomodate the various different pieces and sizes of the new heroes. And with the parts from the older series being removed from P&B, it was only a matter of time.

Never even ordered one. :sceptic:

Well, if you really want to it's not too late - the service stops on the 11th of April so there's still some time.

Having said that, if LEGO continues to make Hero Factory elements available via Pick A Brick this may not really be that much of a loss, despite the loss of the novelty of ordering your own figure in its box and whatnot.

Can't say I'm surprise, it was a nice concept, but I feel the price is the main reason not many heroes made in HRT were being purchased. The price was the reason why I never purchase any of my Heroes.

* Dances at Recon team's grave. *

If this means they will now work on things that are not blessed-countries only or utter expensive then I welcome this.

Good point! I Look forward to seeing what LEGO develops from here, though it seems to me that they'll be reluctatant to try something like this again any time soon. Obviously it's not as profitable for them as they were hoping.

I know that wasn't exactly the point you were making though - I hope that LEGO spends the resources on improvements to the Action Figure line in general that we can all enjoy regardless of country. Something like a parts pack or accessories or "booster packs" would be great - but very unlikely these days.

Still, one door shuts, another opens.

As long as they keep updating PAB, and continue to develop the story aspects of Recon Team, I can take this as an acceptable loss. There's still one or two more heroes I'd like to order before it dies completely, but at least they're not abandoning it fully.

It is a real shame, though.

I'm extremely surprised, given how well HRT seemed to sell (it was usually pretty high in the top 25 highest-selling items on shop.LEGO.com, far above Design byME). I guess it was probably more a matter of the production and packing costs being too high even with a good number of sales. I hope the online Pick-A-Brick doesn't go the same direction... :cry_sad:

I noticed that, too - it always seemed to nestle in that spot just beneath the Star Wars battle packs and just above the basic brick boxes that seem to sell so well. I think, actually, at one point HRT was one of the only non-licensed items in the top sellers list. There were a few other sets, but it held a much higher position I think.

I think Pick A Brick will be ok for now though, there always seems to be a demand for loose bricks. It makes me wonder, though, that if LEGO somehow altered their shipping prices to make ordering smaller quantities of parts seem more reasonable this sort of thing might not even need to happen.

I don't mind paying the price of one of the small boxed villains for my custom Hero, but with LEGO's shipping, the price for a single Hero Recon Team purchase with shipping is almost enough to buy a set like Black Phantom.

So I guess it's confirmed- story wise, Thornraxx is summer stuff.

I like that those 4 are going to have more story role aside from "Evading, messing with a planet, fighting with a Hero, losing and getting caught again". I wonder if Speeda Demon is going to follow that route.

Indeed. I hope the HF storyline progresses like this more in the future. Greg's a great author, just look at what he did with BIONICLE!

I'm not 100% certain Greg has the same influence on HF's story as he did with BIONICLE. I do know that he does have a similar role with Ninjago, but based on the simpler storylines of Hero Factory, it's possible that LEGO lets the set designers do a story outline for any given year, and the TV producers flesh it out into what we see of it. Such a system would explain why most of the comics we've seen are little more than adaptations of the TV episodes.

After reading about the discontinuation of the HRT I just ordered a hero to get a few parts I can't get with Pick-a-Brick any longer.

But I'm not to sad about that. The removal of 2.0 pieces from PaB bothered me way more though I can understand why TLG did that - it just would had been nice if they had informed us from that change in time to make some final orders like with Design by Me or HRT now.
