Awwww yeah, Nex has a hand after all <3

Okay, Nex is going to be my first Summer Breakout set. Followed by Stringer, Core Hunter, Voltix and Bulk.

...

Wait.

Dang nabbit I haven't finished my 3.0 collection yet D:

Considering skipping the 3.0 line and go straight for the Breakout saga...

That's what I'd recommend. I have most of the 3.0 sets and (IMO) Breakout is much better. Not that 3.0 wasn't good, but still. It's a testament to how good Breakout actually is (for the most part).

Like Mesonak said, I think you should skip the 3.0 line- it was pretty good, but in Breakout they really stepped up the game- sets have more variety, both in designs and in colour schemes. Get Witch Doctor, and maybe Fangz, but save the rest of your money.

One more thing I noticed- Stringer's shoulder pads have a speaker-like pattern in the core section which matches his helmet. I swear, it's been a while since I didn't see so many cool little details hidden around.

Sadly, I find Witch Doctor way expensive here. Hell, he's over 100 bucks D:

I think I will just finish my 2.0 line and grab Fangz and Waspix. And then I'll grab the Breakout saga when it shows up here.

Thanks for the suggestions lads

Holy freaking......

Mother of God, those sets are amazing.

More detail comments coming later, after I finish drooling on the computer screen at Voltix's lightning pieces and purple. :wub_drool:

By that logic, Furno originally had a silver torso, and is thusly no longer consistent. It's good to see his original color scheme to show up, yeah, but I'm starting to think he would have benefited from an orange torso.

Furno originally had a solid red torso.

Furno originally had a solid red torso.

And Nex originally had a white torso, but underneath a more visible orange piece.

Evo and Rocka originally had gunmetal under-torsos, but their Breakout versions went with their main colors.

Point is, I think the white is too "off" from the orange to look good. It sort of works with Stringer because his colors are darker and blend better.

Actually Nex has been kinda meh since his original 2.0 release.

Evo's breakout set is terrible, and so I'm not really all that worried about him. Rocka I can excuse because his XL set had a basically all gold torso. Otherwise, the sets are remarkable consistent with their first appearances: Furno red, Breez lime, Surge blue, Stormer white, Nex white. So yeah, Evo, Rocka, Bulk (would look better with a silver torso), and Stringer are the outcasts. That's still more that homage their first set than don't. I think the all orange torso would look too garish, and I'm glad they went with the white torso, with the orange printing that basically serves to function as the same bit of orange his chestplate did in the 2.0 version. I always liked the white torso, and was disappointed it wasn't in his 3.0 version.

Nex should always be an Orange Julius advertisement.

Sure, his original color scheme was great... when used properly. This white torso might have been more appropriate on a larger size, where he can actually have access to more orange pieces. Here, it's just overkill. His original chest piece, by standards, was orange, and orange is his primary color; they decided to mix that up for this wave, making the torso pieces their secondary color. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Also I think you're in the minority of not liking Evo XP. I even grew to like him after actually buying the set. I'm hoping Core Hunter grows on me the same way, but we'll see.

I don't mind Nex, I think I might slap an orange chestplate on there, since I kinda like the Orange/White combo. (Right now I'm using Orange/Gunmetal on my custom version.)

But I customize my heroes to all hell, so it hardly matters to me what the sets look like, just the pieces.

That's just the thing, it doesn't serve the same function. The orange armor was on top, and the white served as an accent to that. Now it's the opposite, with the white as the primary and the orange as the accent. The orange printing doesn't even begin to function as the armor did.

The other Breakout sets don't use the printing in that way either. Rocka had those white wing things, Evo had the grey circuitry, Furno had yellow, and so did Surge. They didn't act as a substitute for the torso piece, and Nex's doesn't either.

Given that Nex, Evo, and Rocka are the only three that debuted with the layered armor, Nex is actually in the minority when it comes to "consistency".

And it's a ToyFair meaning every new printing is shown with stickers. Pretty sure gonna be printed.

Oh right, thanks

Anyway, my thoughts on the sets are:

Nex: The colour scheme is awful (I think), and I really don't think that white chest looks good...

XT4: Looks EPIC, just my idea of a robot drone gone bad, definately getting!

Stringer: Loving the new colour scheme, especially the trans blue chest

Core Hunter: Can't quite see him, but loving what I'm seeing.

Bulk: Looking good. Love that rocket shoulder pad thing..

Voltix:   I HATE the completely jumbled colour scheme, but great parts pack.

Stormer: Looks awesome, Stormer is my fav hero, after all.

Speeda Demon: Aside from the silly name, this set looks pretty awesome!!

Love them all... but...

Stormer has stickers? Seriously? :(

What wghost said. Look at the LOTR minifigs' heads- no way they're not going to be printed in the final sets. This stuff happens all the time at Toy Fair.

Am I the only one who isn't put off by Nex's white torso and medium stone grey bones? He reminds me of the very best of Mars Mission. And I didn't like Mars Mission all that much, but DAYUM that color scheme was to die for.

Hahaha, you're trying to lecture -me- on colour layering.
