Sisco Posted September 30, 2011 Author Posted September 30, 2011 Tesni leans on her sword, and takes a rest. Tesni Hightribe (Played by Peppermint_M) Level 9 Barbarian Power: 16 Health: 16/16 Gold: 99 Inventory: Cysgodion the Great Sword of Darkness (WP: 7) (equipped) Cryfder (WP: 5), 2 Potions, Phoenix Essence, 2 Meads, Bedroll, Venom The party looks at the chest that was behind the cultists. Tarn attempts to force it open, but the chest is Locked. What will the party do? (OoC, I am fine with the actions, as they would have been my choice anyway. ~Mod Note~ I thought you would be. Sorry 'bout that, but we're slightly behind schedule due to the horrible week I've had (Capped off by a trip to the hospital today), and I wanted to attempt to catch up.
Peppermint_M Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 (OoC: Wait, what should my base power be now? I was just trying to do the maths, which is a bad idea at 0640, but I am now a bit lost on my stats..) "Would there be a key in the cultist dust?" Tesni called to her friends as they examined the locked chest.
Sisco Posted September 30, 2011 Author Posted September 30, 2011 (OoC: Wait, what should my base power be now? I was just trying to do the maths, which is a bad idea at 0640, but I am now a bit lost on my stats..) 7+9=16, you're right. Sorry 'bout that.
Rumble Strike Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 "We did it! Great stuff team, we showed those Direwolves Undead who was running things! Tesni, you're so strong As for loot, as the Battle Ax is suitable only for Barbarians, and Tesni got her sword, I shall have to take it. Ellaria, I'd like you to have the [b[Phoenix Essence[/b] as it will help you with your healing role. As for the Cultist Hat, I'd like to give that to Hoke, as he didn't end up with the Flamesword. Alexis, I realises this leaves you short again and I apologise. Nothing Ranger-specific has come up yet. I hope this is satisfactory and fair for everyone. Please let me know if you have any comments."
Sisco Posted September 30, 2011 Author Posted September 30, 2011 Tarn takes the battle ax. It seems so light in his hands... Tarn feels a sudden urge to name the weapon. K-Nut Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 "Well, since we're just talking, I'll use my shovel to see if there's anything valuable in this section of the cave."
UsernameMDM Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Hoke accepts the hat, and nods his thanks. He slips it on a feels an eerie energy flow through him. "Can we cut the lock off the chest with the axe?" OOC - Won't have computer access till later this afternoon. Rumble Strike controls Hoke until I can post again.
Rumble Strike Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Tarn waves the battle ax in his hands, getting a feel for the weapon. He thinks back to the Valco monastary in the mountains of Titaan, and of his mentor Rystael. All the wisdom and goodness that the older man had instilled in his young protege. He grips the handle tighter and says one word: Leyferath - 'the Storm of Light' in my native tongue.
Sandy Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Ellaria gasps as Tarn hands her the Phoenix Essence. "Oh, really? I'm so honoured... I will use this rare item to the best of my ability. Thank you ever so much! So, this tomb belongs to the Porthiar family, I reckon. I wonder if there are more cultists around here somewhere..." OoC: My power should be 5 now, since I'm still wielding the Torch instead of my Snake Staff.
Masked Builder Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 "Ah good we took out those foul monsters. Shall we continue on?" "Alexis, I realises this leaves you short again and I apologise. Nothing Ranger-specific has come up yet." "That's fine. I'm sure I'll get something soon."
Rumble Strike Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 "Any ideas about getting this chest open? I don't really want to use the axe on it in case it damages the contents inside."
Sandy Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 "Any ideas about getting this chest open? I don't really want to use the axe on it in case it damages the contents inside." Ellaria takes a look at the chest. "It looks like we need to find a key for it. Or at least that's what I think..."
Rumble Strike Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 "OK, I think our best course of action is to go head back to where the cavern forked and take the left hand path that we didn't go down earlier. See what beasties are waiting for us! But first we'll just wait and see if Althior finds anything when he's digging. You never know, the key could be buried. Normally the chest is buried and the key isn't, but these Porthiars might do things differently."
K-Nut Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 "We should explore the tunnel, try to find the key, or maybe Ellaria should try her pickaxe?"
Masked Builder Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 "We should explore the tunnel, try to find the key, or maybe Ellaria should try her pickaxe?" "I could try my pickaxe if you so wish."
UsernameMDM Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 "Why don't we search our slain enemies for the key?" Hoke asks.
Rumble Strike Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Tarn thought about this and then frowned, his youthful features creasing up in the gloom of the cavern. "I don't want to sound hesitant, but with the way this place has had traps for us, I really don't think hitting the chest with a pickaxe is a good idea."
UsernameMDM Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 "Perhaps we can distance ourselves while Alexis shoots the lock with her bow."
Peppermint_M Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 "Keys can be hidden further into caves. This is what I heard. Are there more paths beyond here or do we return to the fork? If we find a key later on we can use it."
Rumble Strike Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 "I agree with Tesni I think we should keep exploring, and come back if we find a key. But it couldn't hurt to have a look around first." Tarn motions for Ellaria to hold the torch close to the bodies of the Cultists. Grimacing as he kneels down clsoe to them, he searches the area for a dropped key, or perhaps in a pocket or something.
Sisco Posted September 30, 2011 Author Posted September 30, 2011 The party desperately searches for a key to open the chest. Finally Ellaria shines her torch on the wall, revealing some ancient runes... Ellaria, ever the scholar, has luckily brought a book of runes with her to the cave. After a moment of examining the wall, Ellaria turns to the party. "It roughly translates to 'This chest requires yer gold!'" The party deliberates on what this could mean. ()
Masked Builder Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 "Maybe we should give it some/all of our gold?"
Rumble Strike Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Tarn looks at the others. "A piece of gold, or all the gold we took, er, found? If it's all our gold, we will have to decide if we think it'll be worth it. I'm sure I've seen a tavern game similar to this, where people wager against the chance to get better items." Tarn places a gold piece on the chest. Tarn looks at the others. "A piece of gold, or all the gold we took, er, found? If it's all our gold, we will have to decide if we think it'll be worth it. I'm sure I've seen a tavern game similar to this, where people wager against the chance to get better items." Tarn places a gold piece on the chest.
UsernameMDM Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 "Won't hurt to try," Hoke said as he placed a gold piece on the chest.
Sisco Posted October 1, 2011 Author Posted October 1, 2011 The party tries to open the chest by each putting a piece of gold on the chest. As they pile their gold onto the chest, Tarn notices something odd about the keyhole. It's in the shape of a moneybag! One member of the party must sacrifice all of their gold in their coin purse to open the chest...
