I agree that we should pay a visit to the Chief's house, first to inform his wife, but also to find out who might have wanted him dead. The more we know about his past, the best are our chances to find a motive to this crime.

Can I be reminded where I was when the Chief called last night at 5.30?

Actually since the Chief was such a bad husband, perhaps we should be careful around his wife. She is likely to know more about his husband than Mike at the liquor store gives her credit for. She could be a suspect as far as I am concerned.

I would like to call his wife and tell her the bad news. I would also like to ask her why her husband called 6 times yesterday and if there was something unusual going on the last couple of days.

There is no answer.

You were at the police station, finishing up a report on a traffic violation.

So he had the gun earlier but lost it somehow? A missing gun doesn't sound good for us.

Yeah, six phone calls in just a few hours doesn't sound routine to me. Maybe she was on to him. She might be involved somehow. Questioning her might be a good way to start to actually find some things out.

I would like to share with the people present whatever I recall of the Chief's phone call.

"He was talking to me about how we should really step up our recruiting perks to really attract more people. It was a rather short conversation."

Yeah I mean't to ask if there is a case the chief is working on

After this his house seems like a good idea

The Chief was not working on any cases prior to his death.

I'd like to go to the chiefs house.

The townspeople begin the trek to the Chief's House, which is outside of town.

The townspeople arrive at the home of Chief Arnold McGovern.

Betty McGovern (def) answers the door.

"How can I help you?" she asks.

"Yes, do you know what happened to your husband's gun?" a member of the crowd asks.

"Of course, I always it before he goes out drinking. He started early last night, so I made him come home first before he went back out, and I took his gun. Where is Arnold?"

The police officers present break the bad news to Mrs. McGovern, who breaks down crying.

"Excuse me...I need a moment." she says, as she goes back inside.

About a few minutes later, the police hear a gunshot from inside. They race inside.

Betty McGovern (def) lies in the bed, dead.

"I've called an ambulance. They should be here shortly. In the meantime, let's check out the Chief's Bedroom for clues."

:distressed:

There goes that possibility of interrogation.

I put on a pair of gloves and carefully check to see how many rounds are left in the gun.

Oh, and I look around to obtain a full description of the Chief's bedroom.

"Of course, I always ___ it before he goes out drinking.[...]"

So we'll never find out what she always does to that gun before he gos out frinking.?

I wonder if he came home after bying his booze, delivered his gun to his wife, and then left to get murdered. And he drank even when he was in the liquor shop while still having his gun, so something doesn't add up. But if his wife had something to do with it, she propably wouldn't have killed herself.

I'd like to read the note on the table, open the drawers and look inside, and look if there are any hairs on the brush which don't belong to the Chief or his wife.

gos out frinking.?

Uh, three mistakes in three words. I meant "goes out drinking?", of course.

Didn't the owner of the store tell us he was unarmed when he bought the liquor?

Oh yes, he of course had his gun with him. He used it in as a prop in his reenactment of his 'major case' story.

There's five bullets left, meaning that one has been used. There's a door to the bathroom in one corner, the door into the bedroom in the other, a bed and nightstand in the other corner, and a large closet in the other corner. There's a large circular rug in the center of the room.

I'd like to read the note on the table, open the drawers and look inside, and look if there are any hairs on the brush which don't belong to the Chief or his wife.

The note reads:

"Dear friends,

I cannot live any longer without my dear husband. My husband was the last person I had in my life, as we never had any children. He was a good man, even with his drinking, and I can't see myself living without him.

Goodbye, I hope you'll all understand.

-Betty McGovern

Insider the drawers is a hairbrush, a book, a pen, a flashlight, a few batteries, and a cell phone charger. There are hairs on the brush, but it's impossible to see if they don't belong to the Chief of his wife without a sample of their hair.

So we'll never find out what she always does to that gun before he gos out frinking.?

She always takes it from him before he goes out drinking.

Alright.

I'll start by looking to see if there is anything underneath the rug.

Ashley beat me to it, so I enter the bathroom and look around to see what's in there.

Two deaths in one day? That's unprecedented in this town. :look:

I'd like to check the serial number on the gun, and compare it with my possible knowledge of the Chiefs' to check where it's his.

The serial number on the gun matches the Chief's serial number, concluding that the gun is the Chief's

I'd like to check under the rug to see if there's anything underneath.

There's some dust under the rug, but not much else.

Alright.

Entering the bathroom, it's quite small. There's a sink basin, a shower/bathtub combo, a large mirror, a toilet, and a medicine cabinet.
