Tamamono Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 "I didn't see any, but that doesn't necessarily mean there aren't more in other rooms that could quickly appear." "It would make sense for someone as important and powerful as Keveak to have guards just waiting to come to his aid. In any case, fighting them is not an option at this point." "I don't know, suddenly I'm not feeling so confident in this contract. What does everyone else think?"
Darkdragon Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 I don't like it at all but we must do what we must do. we need to get permission to proceed with our current employer before we sign. that's the only thing that really sticks out to me.
Brickdoctor Posted October 5, 2011 Author Posted October 5, 2011 I don't like it at all but we must do what we must do. we need to get permission to proceed with our current employer before we sign. that's the only thing that really sticks out to me. "As the representative of the Shadeaux here, I give you permission to sign the charter if you feel that's the best way to complete the assigned quest."
Tanma Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 De'kra clicks, "guide said elves good at manipulate houses, heroes and I had to know it might happen. I think heroes and I have to proceed like plan, in heroes and I know heroes and I use of elves might help heroes and I escape might trouble. Heroes and I in company of elves, elves might kill group might heroes and I refuse. No path to go but forward. Group still need to tell elves of prior hiring, elves find out, it worse other elves learn of elves. And might elves already know, no risk.
swils Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 If we want to get at any information these elves have, seems all we can do is work with them here. If I'm understanding Mr Clicktastic over there properly, then I'd support his idea. That is to say, tell 'em enough to answer and if they want more, levy it against more information for our own cause. Speakin' of our own cause, though, in the face of execution, we're puttin' Mr. Shawe's interests in the hands of Keveak. Who knows what he'll cook up for us, or how far off from our original mission we'll end up under his command. We'll definitely be wantin' his signed permission up front for us to continue aiding Mr. Shawe throughout our service to Keveak, until/unless it interferes WITH that service. Leaves us a little wiggle room, at least. I'm lookin' for two causes for early termination of the contract, though: First, Keveak can't charge us with a task that'll result in our certain deaths. I ain't signin' up to be no martyr. Secondly, should we come to be tasked to act against the House of Shadeaux, we'd have the right to resign ourselves from the elves' service if we so desire, unless it can be reasonably proven that the Shadeaux have double-crossed us, or have otherwise acted so as to become our(the party's, not necessarily the elves') enemies.
Tanma Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 De'kra wondered who this Mizz Ter Clik Astic was, and why the shade couldn't see it or hear it. Maybe his species couldn't comprehend MTCA, like how that emotion of mating desire made no sense to him. Or maybe it was a naive belief of Heroica.
swils Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Noticing the confused look on the shade's face... OOC: Would Thormanil even be able to tell if De'Kra had a confused look on his face? Does he have features/employ expressions? Heh ...Thormanil winks at De'Kra and grins, saying: 'Click click' YOU! 'click' Me no speaky the 'clickity click'! He chuckles, and hopes the shade doesn't mind a little ribbing to lighten the mood
posades Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 "What would the other option be if we don't sign the contract? Might there be someone else that knows more about the situation involving the Lion Knights?"
Tanma Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 OOC: unless De'kra says something in quotation marks, he's thinking to himself. De'kra shook his head and clicked in his high pitched fast paced voice, "I not know other way, heroes and I have no leads except elves. Guide-man, heroes and I allow to show elves dagger? Elves might notice thing heroes and I miss."
Flare Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 "If they did notice anything they would probably not say anything and then take it."
Tanma Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 De'kra shrugged and clicked, "Heroes and I still might not learn anything from dagger alone. Heroes and I might lose dagger, but it has not help heroes and I recently. Heroes and I had to trust strangers with dagger back in first town, what difference? It might safer to trust people who say day no like you, than people who act like friend first thing. Heroes and I know elves not fond of strangers, heroes and I prepare for betrayel. Even might elves betray heroes and I, elves wait until heroes and I help elves win war. Then heroes and I useless to elves."
Darkdragon Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 "I agree with De'kra. I think we should go out and agree to sign the contract with the one requirement that they give us permission to continue our relationship with the current employer. We should also show them the dagger if we think that would help but really I'm not sure what they would need to see it for. The elves seem to already know where the lion knights can be found and just looking for someone like us to do the dirty work. We definitely need to get moving on this mission and perhaps not overthink the contract, it seems to really be slowing us down. "

"Alright, let's sign it." We return to the main room. A discussion is taking place as we enter, but the elves catch themselves earlier and don't say that much. "-ells have too much infl-" Keveak was saying. "-icate the Lions inst-" said a new voice. Keveak turned to the party. He had been talking with an elf they hadn't seen yet. The male lieutenant was no longer in the room. "Good, you're back. What do you think?"
Tamamono Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 "Good, you're back. What do you think?" "We will sign your contract. However, we are currently employed by one of the six noble houses. Will you allow us to continue working for them?"
Brickdoctor Posted October 6, 2011 Author Posted October 6, 2011 "We will sign your contract. However, we are currently employed by one of the six noble houses. "Like I said before, I can give you permission to pursue the goals of your previous employer after you've signed the charter, but I need to know details. Right now, for all I know, you could have been hired to assassinate me."

Brickdoctor Posted October 6, 2011 Author Posted October 6, 2011 "Good point. I will sign the charter now." "Excellent."The members of the party sign their names, and Keveak presses his seal into the blob of softened wax on the parchment. Keveak indicates the new elf with his hand. "This is Seaian. He will escort you to Brobric, where you can make contact with the elves who can give you the information you seek. "I must remain in R'Kilf for a few days, so if you want those written permits, you'd best ask now."
Tanma Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 De'kra felt like the sun was beating on him again. Strong feelings bubbled up to the front of his mind, though not the rage or the grief that the sun brought. This was a wave of concern, that he might have doomed the group with his simplistic knowledge of interactions. Silently he thinks these thoughts, then pushes them deep inside. Despite turning his attention to other matters, the shade still wondered if he had made the right decision.
Tamamono Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 "I must remain in R'Kilf for a few days, so if you want those written permits, you'd best ask now." "Before we signed your charter, we were employed by the Shadeaux. Apparently, the Lion Knights have been raiding Shadeaux caravans, so we were hired to infiltrate the main Lion Knight camp and to bring the Shadeaux any information we had about them. With your permission, we would like to continue to work for the Shadeaux."

As it seems we share a common enemy, I have no compunctions as far as giving you permission is concerned."Keveak writes some words in elven tongue on another parchment, and stamps his seal onto that one as well. He hands it to Seaian. "That's settled. Seaian will accompany you to Brobric, once you've finished your investigations in R'Kilf. He will, of course, assist you in battle as well." Seaian (NPC; controlled by Captain Tamamono) Level 2 Warrior* Power: 6 Health: 7/7 Gold: 0 Inventory: Elven Sword (WP: 4), Keveak's Permit "Seaian will be carrying the permit I just wrote. If he falls in battle, he'll lose it, and you'll have to come back to me and get a new one." QM Note: Seaian works just like another PC controlled by the party leader. *The basic Warrior class has no Special. Rolling a Shield will result in a normal Hit for Seaian. "One more thing: I don't want any funny business. Just to make sure you don't try anything, one of you must stay behind in R'Kilf with me."

Tanma Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 De'kra felt a rush of excitement, his suggestions hadn't killed the group, but maybe have actually helped the team. But now the group had a choice to make, who would stay behind? "Heroes and I talk of who stay behind in room?" clicked De'kra, "Or need heroes and I talk here?"

ADHO15 Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 "It seems like the negotiations are going rather smoothly so far, which is a good sign. I do not much like this situation where one of us must stay behind though. How shall we decide?"
