posades Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Seaian chooses to use item Keveak's Permit on Blacksmith! Just kidding , attack on Thug B from back row is fine.
swils Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Thormanil will attack the Blacksmith from the front row. OOC: #1) I've got an updated picture for Thormanil in my signature, I'll let you know if I make any future changes. #2) Two items of clarification on the Thugs' special: --2a) When it says "all thugs", does this mean only "Thug A" and "Thug B", or is the Blacksmith included as part of the gang of thugs that have confronted us? --2b) What is the +/- weight of various rolls? Imagine we're in the middle of the fight, and Seaian has only 1 health remaining. Tomas attacks last, targeting a thug, but ends up proc'ing "Regroup" for the next round. Now, let's say Leo lands a hit and so we're left with just the Blacksmith. I've got 6 health, and it's my turn to attack. Unfortunately, I roll a "Damage" and "Muscular Strength". If I take the damage, I'm KO'ed. If the Muscular Strength goes through, I am left with 1 health, but there is a chance that Seaian takes that random damage and is KO'ed. Which roll is deemed worse for the party? I'd imagine it'd be the Muscular Strength, in this case, but I'm not sure. Another scenario, Sir Leo proc'ing Sentinel vs Sir Leo dealing the final hit to one of the enemies? #3) @Tanma (slightly delayed, ooops), I realized that De'Kra was in his head at the time, and so spoke through Thormanil as though De'Kra had hinted at his confusion through his facial expression, but then was curious if your idea of a shade even allowed for facial expressions, heh.
Brickdoctor Posted October 7, 2011 Author Posted October 7, 2011 QM Note: Sorry if this wasn't clear. 'Thugs' only applies to Thug A and Thug B, not the Blacksmith. In addition, only those who attack the Thugs the Round after after Regroup is rolled are affected by the Special, so it's impossible to roll Damage and Muscular Strength. (e.g., Thormanil attacks Thug A in Round One and rolls Regroup, while Seaian attacks Blacksmith. In Round Two, Thormanil attacks the Blacksmith, so he rolls normally. But in Round Two, if Seaian attacks Thug A or Thug B, he has to roll twice and take the worse result) The 'worse-ness' of the roll is determined by the order the actions are listed in. From best to worst, Shield Critical Hit Hit Miss Damage Special Damage So Special Damage is worse than Damage, and Hit or Critical Hit is worse than Shield.

I *meant* to order my hypothetical attacks such that Seaian was attacking the thug in the next round, as described, perhaps I went back and rewrote that bit while trying to fix something else. Oops, heh.
ADHO15 Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 "I shall attack Thug B from the back row with Darkness."
Tanma Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 De'kra noticed that everyone save him and the elf were targeting the blacksmith. While the shade knew the blacksmith was much stronger, he also knew that he had a bad track record in battle, and the elf had almost no experience. Not to mention that if the elf fell, the team would fall. "One hero need help elf," clicked De'kra, "He fight alone, heroes and I loose him, heroes and I need to return to R'Kilf.
TheBoyWonder Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 I will attack the Blacksmith from the front row. I will spare ya blushes Dekra!
Tanma Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 De'kra noticed that the Mage and the elf were working together, and relaxed. Two against one should keep the elf safe, and thus protect their permit. Of course De'kra still was fighting alone, but hopefully his luck would change from that of his previous battles.
Brickdoctor Posted October 7, 2011 Author Posted October 7, 2011 Round One of the Skirmish on the R'Kilf Road: Sir Leo the Sentinel vs. Blacksmith - Critical Hit Thormanil Nihai vs. Blacksmith - Miss >Cinna the Dark vs. Blacksmith - Shield >Ad-Hoh vs. Thug B - Hit >Seaian vs. Thug B - Shield >Benji Carvenhall vs. Blacksmith - Damage De'kra vs. Thug A - Damage >Tomas vs. Blacksmith - Special Damage The party draws their weapons, knowing a fight is inevitable. The Blacksmith lunges forward, but Sir Leo sidesteps the assault and lands a Critical Hit with his counterattack at 14 Damage. Thormanil is waiting to follow up, but his axes sweep through naught but air, as the Blacksmith, more nimble than he looks, rolls aside and leaps back. The enemies are suddenly thrown backwards, as Cinna causes a poweful Magic Burst, causing 18 Darkness Elemental Damage to all enemies. Ad-Hoh's spell isn't quite as widespread, but it files straight and true for 18 Darkness Elemental Damage - more than enough to finish off Thug B. His original target defeated, Seaian turns to Thug A and lands a Hit for 3 Damage. Benji's arrow can't hit its target, and the Ranger is at the mercy of the Blacksmith's hammer at close range; he takes 3 Damage. De'kra attacks Thug, but the larger combatant overpowers him for 5 Damage. Tomas attempts to finish off the Blacksmith, but he can't quite land a hit from the Back Row with his staff, and the Blacksmith seizes the opportunity to show off his Muscular Strength, causing 5 Damage to Tomas. The wide sweep of the hammer also nicks Benji and Sir Leo on its way to its target, causing 1 Damage to each of them. Both sides step back for a moment to assess the damage they've taken, before the fight resumes. Enemies: Blacksmith Type: Humanoid Level: 6 Health: 3/35 Special: Muscular Strength - The Blacksmith calls upon his great physical ability to swing his hammer through a horizontal arc, dealing 5 Damage to the target and 1 Damage to two other random targets. Tamamono Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Order of action: Leo Thormanil Cinna Ad-Hoh Benji De'kra Seaian Tomas "I will attack Blacksmith from the back row!"
Tanma Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 (edited) De'kra clicks, "I attack thug A in front row. Now round should finish fight." The shade gripped his Pongcanis Dagger as he leapt at the foe, knowing that the two foes were too low in health to last much longer. Edited October 7, 2011 by Tanma

swils Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Thormanil will attack the Blacksmith from the front row.
Tanma Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 De'kra clicks, "Blacksmith very weak, heroes spread aim to Thug A too? Best might every foe have many attackers?" The shade hoped that his speed would aid him in this battle, unlike pretty much every fight he had fought in to this point.
Darkdragon Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 "Don't worry, when the blacksmith goes down we will notice and automatically target the thug."
posades Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Seaian readies an attack at Thug A from the back row.
Brickdoctor Posted October 8, 2011 Author Posted October 8, 2011 QM Note: I forgot that Sir Leo's shield would block the 1 Damage caused by Muscular Strength. Fixed, now.
Tanma Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 De'kra nods at the words of Hero and Dark Power, as her words made sense. Why would the group just assault a dead corpse? It is only logical that they would switch their target once the foe fell. The shade wonders why these foes were paid to stop travelers, could they be servants of the Lion Knights?
Brickdoctor Posted October 9, 2011 Author Posted October 9, 2011 Round Two of the Skirmish on the R'Kilf Road: Sir Leo the Sentinel vs. Thug A - Damage Thormanil Nihai vs. Blacksmith - Special Damage >Cinna the Dark vs. Blacksmith - Critical Hit >Ad-Hoh vs. Thug A - Damage >Benji Carvenhall vs. Thug A - Damage De'kra vs. Thug A - Damage >Seaian vs. Thug A - Special Damage >Tomas vs. Blacksmith - Damage With the clear advantage, the party prepares to finish off the enemies. Easier said than done. Sir Leo takes 5 Damage from Thug A while Thormanil is unable to defeat the Blacksmith, who proves he's stronger than the Barbarian by using his Muscular Strength to deal 5 Damage, his hammer simultaneously causing 1 Damage each to Benji and De'kra, before Cinna drops him with a thwack of her staff. Finding himself alone and on the verge of defeat, Thug A suddenly goes berserk. He slams his sword into Ad-Hoh before the mage can make a move, leaps forward at Benji and, at close range where Ranger can't bring his bow to bear, lands an easy slash to the Benji's arm. De'kra makes a valiant attempt to finish him, but the Thug drops him with a strike of his sword's pommel, Regroups against Seaian, and lunges, successfully stabbing Tomas in the side. The combatants step back for a moment, all breathing heavily. Tanma Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 De'kra falls, and collapses to the ground. Slowly his body fades away, leaving only a tattered cloak and a collection of blades. But the shadowy figure has vanished, leaving only his physical items behind. OOC: He isn't dead, he just is regrouping.
