"Awesome! Glad you found something you liked, De'kra. Now lets go see Lord Norma."

"Lord Normorn, and yes, let us meet with him."

De'kra thanks the others, bowing deeply at them. "I try use cloak well," promised the shade, "and when heroes win quest, I hope, I repay money. Now heroes and I head to meet elf lord Normom?"

With our business at the Questing Outfitter's Shop concluded and the sun burning brightly in the midday sky, we follow Seaian to the lone Brobric Elven building in Brobric.

Lord Normorn, head of Brobric Elven Intelligence, stands strikingly clothed in a dark red cloak in front of a large window. His quarters are minimally yet regally furnished. As we approach, our feet pad softly on a rug made from a single, large piece of fur.

A servant enters from passages unseen on the left side of the parlor and sets chalices full of a red liquid down on a table. Lord Normorn turns to him.

"Thank you, Davian.

"Welcome, heroes, to Brobric! How can I help you?"

"Greetings, Lord Normorn. My companions and I were sent here by Lord Keveak to assist you in ridding Uland of the Lion Knights."

De'kra nods to Tomas but nervously ways for the news on the Shadeaux hiring the team previously to be brought up. De'kra knew they would be safe as they had permission, but he worried a little if the leader would remember to show the form. The shade knew that the odds were that the cleric would know to inform the lord, but a part of him still worried.

"Ah, excellent! If you ask me, Keveak underestimates the power of our own warriors, but while you're here, I see no reason not to take advantage of your services. Tell me, what, exactly, do you wish to know?"

"Can I have a drink? I'm really thirsty from... walking."

"First of all, we'd like to know who these Lion Knights really are, and where they came from. Why are they invading Uland?"

"Were you not properly briefed? Or are those houses of Eubric trying and failing at spying again?

"No matter. The Lion Knights are foreigners. Of their origins, we know only that they come from outside the Free Islands - outside, in fact, of the territories shown in the maps in the Eubric Library. They're skilled warriors of a standing army, that's for sure. What we're seeing on Uland right now is a scout force, of about five knights and roughly thirty supporting foot soldiers and archers. My spies tell me that the Lion Knights are here to establish a base from which to invade the mainland. Ennon, Duplova, Moone - who knows. The Brobric Elves have the manpower to go after them, but there have been sightings of galleys filled to the brim with Lion Knights offshore, and until we can find out exactly what their plans are, we dare not remove the bulk of our force from Brobric."

"Would you like us to take care of the scout force for you?"

"Do you have the capability to do that? Can you handle thirty-odd men at the same time?

"As far as I'm concerned, knowledge is power. We have the troops. If you bring us information as to where the Lion Knights will be and when and why, we can deal with them. Sadly, there aren't many among the Brobric who wish to join my spies and I. They're all caught up with the prospect of the glory of becoming a war hero alongside the likes of Keveak and Ricroar. If you were able to assist me instead by bringing back information, it would be much appreciated.

"But I know nothing of your goals where Heroica is concerned. I'm told you're working for the Shadeaux. Smart men, they are. Conniving, yes. Dishonorable, quite possibly. But smart, definitely. I have no wish to stand in the way of their assignments. So, tell me what you're employer wants, and we might be able to work something out that kills two birds with one stone."

Seens we're in luck, then, as I distinctly remember that our primary goal was to gather information regarding the caravan raids (which led us to the Lion Knights), and then Mr. Shawe here would give us further instruction based on what we found. Some reconnaissance would advance both of our goals.

"Unfortunately, no, we can not. If we were able to take them on in groups of 6-7 at a time, I think it would be possible."

"We are to infiltrate the Lion Knights' main camp and bring back any information we can about their future plans here in Uland."

I whisper to Thormanil,

"That is correct, but do not forget, the assignment of the Shadeaux goes beyond that. There is still the possibility of assassination, and I know not whether that agrees with the elven assignment."

Taking a step back to speak with Shawe, Thormanil lets Tomas continue speaking with Normorn,

Well, of course, I just sorta lumped that in under "further instruction." Besides, that's the part I'm most looking forward to--anyone important enough to warrant an assassination almost always has some fancy sword or otherwise, to set them apart from their nameless goons! Ha ha!

"Ah, I see. That will work out quite well. I wasn't planning on asking you to do something as drastic as that, but as you're doing it already, I'd be happy to provide any information you need. What is it you want to know?"

"No harm there. If you want to share the Lion Knights' plans with the Brobric Elves, too, I have nothing against it."

"To start us off, we'd like to know where the Lion Knights have been spotted recently (other than R'Klif). It would also be helpful to know if anyone else has reported having their caravans (or whatnot) raided by the Lion Knights."

De'kra clicked softly, "Sail southwards, then up." His eyes were dimmer as he spoke, like a king whose kingdom has fallen. In the next second his eyes were back to their normal glow, as if it had been a dream. "Heroes and I also know knights had near Mopag Forest," clicked the shade, "might it help."

"The Lion Knights were spotted just two days ago by one of my spies, camping in the Eubric plains, just out of sight of the Eubric Highway. Their leader was with them. Why they would decide to camp in the middle of the plains is beyond me. Nothing but wheat and other crops out there. As far as I know, nobody else has reported a raid on their horses or wagons by Lion Knights, though I'm told that in their camp, the Lion Knights had one wagon bearing the Hinckwell crest."

"Well, that makes it fairly easy. I doubt they'll still be camping there, but there's a good chance that we'll be able to pick up their trail."

"The Hinckwells, huh? I doubt we'll get any help from them, considering that we are working for the Shadeaux."

"One more question: have your spies met anyone who claims to have traded with the Lion Knights? There's a high possibility that the Lion Knights just steal whatever they need, but there still might be people who've traded goods with them."

Sir William Fane looks up.

"Well, whaddya know...

"I ain't seen one of these since before I was prospecting in the mountains beyond Brobric Pass. Symbol of the so-called Lion Knights, it is. I've heard they'd returned to Uland recently. Saw one in Bric'Lin a couple days ago. He took off in a hurry, though, didn't say where he was going. Mentioned something about the Hinckwells, though.

De'kra clicks, "I think person who told heroes and I about lion knights said one Lion Knight mention Crownies. Remember other heroes? He had dragon theme I think." Will the others remember this encounter at their first town?
