Brickdoctor Posted November 12, 2011 Author Posted November 12, 2011 "Oh good. I'd hate to destroy a perfectly nice window!" "Is it possible to tell if the meeting is being held in the room with the window? If it isn't, we can try to climb up the rope into the room without being seen." QM Note:It isn't possible to tell, but do you really think god would be that mean? Use the metagame, Luke.
swils Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 Aha! Finally, some rope! Now we're in business. How's about we toss De'kra up there with the rope (he's a smaller fella, right?), and he can tie it to somethin' and then we can all scale the wall! Or we could stack the barrels on the crate and make steps.
Tamamono Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 QM Note: It isn't possible to tell, but do you really think god would be that mean? Use the metagame, Luke. "In that case, I'd like to throw the rope up to the window and climb up."
Flare Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 Benji nervously fiddles with his bow. "Can't we just kill someone and get on with it!?"
Brickdoctor Posted November 12, 2011 Author Posted November 12, 2011 You lead the party up the rope and through the window into the Hinckwell House of Bric'Lin. You climb through onto a small balcony overlooking a main room. Light pours down from three large chandeliers, but you are in a patch of shadow. You cannot move off the balcony without being seen. You can see the three factions' leaders at each others' throats. Two Hinckwell men have their swords drawn and have picked up a chest and begun to back away. The Lion Knight leader's weapons remain on the table, but he is flanked by two guards. These guards definitely aren't the grunts you faced at the camp. They wear a full suit of mail, carry reinforced pikes, and have a look of experience on their faces. The elven bodyguard looks ready to leap across the table at the Lion Knights at any moment, and even Lord Keveak has his sword drawn while he sips a glass of wine. The Hinckwell leader is trying to get things back on track, but the Lion Knight leader and an elf clothed in white robes who could only be Lord Ricroar are locked in a stare down and aren't listening. "All right heroes. You know all you need to know. You've investigated beyond the capabilities of even some Shadeaux spies. The future of the Shadeaux's presence in the arms market and, quite possibly, the peace on Uland are at stake. Now, you must take action. Kill the man responsible for raiding our caravans."

"Are we going to have to go into battle, or will Benji just shoot whoever we choose?"
Brickdoctor Posted November 12, 2011 Author Posted November 12, 2011 "Are we going to have to go into battle, or will Benji just shoot whoever we choose?" QM Note:You have to battle them. You didn't think your QM would let you get out of this without a boss battle, did you?
Tamamono Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 QM Note: You have to battle them. You didn't think your QM would let you get out of this without a boss battle, did you? OOC: Oh, good. I was afraid I wouldn't get out of this without even reaching Level 13! "And if we guess wrong?"
Brickdoctor Posted November 12, 2011 Author Posted November 12, 2011 "And if we guess wrong?" QM Note:It shouldn't be a guess. In any case, there's something you can get out of this no matter who you kill, but some choices are just better than others.
TheBoyWonder Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 We should get Dekra to use cloak of the Elven Spy. We battle the one with highest stats perhaps?
Tamamono Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 QM Note: It shouldn't be a guess. In any case, there's something you can get out of this no matter who you kill, but some choices are just better than others. OOC: Ah, I see... Of course it won't be a guess, but I'm going to have to think about it for a while. We should get Dekra to use cloak of the Elven Spy. We battle the one with highest stats perhaps? "Good idea, Leo! De'kra, please use your cloak to determine the stats."
Tanma Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 IC: As De'kra uses the cloak his whispers, "I think elves one who start quest. Remember, elves not like invaders, and though knights might not invaders knights still strangers to Uland. Elves very want to fight, even though Lion Knights might exist here because of legal reasons. Elves spoke of use Shadeaux, and heroes and I hired when Shadeaux were raided. Elves also mentioned elven spies, and said elves knew heroes and I work for Shadeaux already. But I theories usually wrong, leader make leader's own choice."

TheBoyWonder Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 Dekra has a point. But the Elves seem the strongest. Hickwells have 300 HP all together, Elves have 400 and Lions have 330. I am all for the Elves, but Thomas this is up to you. OOC: If we lose the fight we fail the quest right? If we pick the wrong one, but we kill him, do we fail the quest?
Tamamono Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 IC: As De'kra uses the cloak his whispers, "I think elves one who start quest. "You know, I too think that Keveak and the Elves are up to something. If their spies are so good, then why don't they know that the Lion Knights are here on (what seems to be) a farming mission? However, that does not explain the caravans."
Brickdoctor Posted November 12, 2011 Author Posted November 12, 2011 OOC: If we lose the fight we fail the quest right? If we pick the wrong one, but we kill him, do we fail the quest? QM Note:Yes, and, technically, yes.
swils Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 (edited) Well, I believe its the elves, most notably Keveak, that are behind all this. And, honestly, I think they'll pose the smallest threat in battle. It's just the three of 'em, and the worst they can do is nullify our magic. No fancy swordplay and parrying, no morale boosts to strengthen their swings... You know where my vote lies. Edit: OOC: Did we run for two days straight to get here, or did we manage to get any rest along the way? Edited November 12, 2011 by swils
Brickdoctor Posted November 12, 2011 Author Posted November 12, 2011 OOC: Did we run for two days straight to get here, or did we manage to get any rest along the way? QM Note:You took the road from Eubric to Bric'Lin. That's only 1 Night's travel. You spent the Night sneaking around the Lion Knight Camp. (which is what you were supposed to do)
swils Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 (edited) Well, no matter who we ultimately decide is responsible, it's gonna be a heck of a fight. Thormanil opens up his bottle of Mead and takes a sip. Others in the group stare at him, as if to ask, 'Are you really having a drink at a time like this?!' but he shrugs it off, and takes another sip, then explains, What? Helps to clear my head, lets me focus more on the slicin' and dicin'! Call it superstition, but I always feel twice as strong when I've got a bit of a swerve goin' on. If any of you've got a drink of choice, potion to down, or god to pray to, now's the time! He then pulls out a small vial of green liquid. Uncorking it, he puts it to his lips, as everyone else just gazes at him, utterly bewildered soaks a small rag with the liquid and begins coating his axes with the Venom. Once finished, he balls up the rag and returns it to his pack. His hand brushes up against a rounded object, and he remembers that he still has the Skull Bomb from the strange little village they passed through. Huh, wonder if this lil' guy will be of any use? Maybe I should chuck it at Keveak's smug face (or, y'know, whoever we decide to confront) just as I leap over the balcony and smash into the table, causing enough of a brouhaha for us to get a round of surprise initiative strikes in! More blank stares Uh, I mean, maybe I'll just throw it first off when we get into the fight and see what happens. Or not. Or.. yeah, maybe not a good idea. QM Note: You took the road from Eubric to Bric'Lin. That's only 1 Night's travel. You spent the Night sneaking around the Lion Knight Camp. (which is what you were supposed to do) OOC: Oh, right right. Any chance of getting a pre-battle status report on the party, or has nothing changed since the one posted a few pages back? Brickdoctor Posted November 13, 2011 Author Posted November 13, 2011 OOC: Oh, right right. Any chance of getting a pre-battle status report on the party, or has nothing changed since the one posted a few pages back? QM Note:Nothing's changed, other than the Mead and Venom you just used.
ADHO15 Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 "Hmm. This coming battle is making me anxious. Never have I faced such powerful and experienced opponents. That magic-resistant cape and the anti-magic powers possessed by the elves are really worrying me. I will not be of much use once my abilities to manipulate darkness are diminished. However, I remain courageous and I am honoured to follow you all into what is definitely our toughest battle to date. Good luck to us all!"
Tamamono Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 "This is a rather important battle, so I think everyone should vote on who we attack. So far, there's two votes for the elves (Thormanil and Leo)."
Tanma Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 IC: De'kra applied his venom onto his blade, as the group made their decision. He had been saving this vial the whole journey, to prepare for a battle that truly required his skills. The venom won't help much, but every bit is useful. "I still think it elves," he said finally, "but I thought has occur wrong before."
ADHO15 Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 OOC: I think changing our targets from those we've been hunting throughout the quest to those who have been our allies is obviously supposed to be a kind of twist ending. Sorry if that's meta-gaming, or if I'm wrong, but I'll vote for the elves.
