Tanma Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 (edited) As De'kra slept a strange alien chatter flowed from his body. Inside his mind the shade saw flashes of something, though what it was escaped him. There was a familarity though, like he had seen it before. As he began to wake with the day, the Rogue caught sight of a memory of a strange blue and red figure, with a skull-like mask. De'kra looked around, and wondered who that figure had been. swils Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Thormanil looks around, trying to spot any vines in the thick forest. A fellow party member asks him why he's taken such a sudden interest in the foliage. I'm tryin' to find vines strong enough to fashion a rope, of course! Never know when a good old rope will come in handy!
Tanma Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 De'kra nodded in understand, a rope could be useful. Thinking about using plants, De'kra got an idea. "Mage and green gem," the shade asked, "You control plants out of battle? Perhaps you clear path little?"
Brickdoctor Posted September 22, 2011 Author Posted September 22, 2011 I notice the others just seem to be chatting, and not doing anything of note, so I get the party going, and we continue our journey. The third Night in the Mopag forest approaches fast... We can only hope that the third Night will go favorably for us, as by the time we lie down, we are so tired that we forget to assign a watchman. The party sleeps so deeply that no one notices an old man driving his cart along the trail. It's filled with a number of odd bottles. And no one notices when one of those bottles falls out of the cart and lands among the plants. That is, no one notices until morning, when the party awakes and finds the mysterious item. "Well, what will you do with this?"
swils Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 I, for one, think someone should drink it! The party looks at Thormanil questioningly What?! Isn't that what you're supposed to do with strange, unidentified elixers? What's the worst that could happen?
Brickdoctor Posted September 22, 2011 Author Posted September 22, 2011 Isaac stares at Thormanil. "Are you volunteering yourself?"
ADHO15 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 "Mage and green gem," the shade asked, "You control plants out of battle? Perhaps you clear path little?" "Hmm, perhaps I could indeed use my emerald to clear this foliage aside and create a clear path through. I shall try at once." we are so tired that we forget to assign a watchman. "Is this something we must do each night? I'm guessing not as we all seemed to prepare quickly for the battle a few nights past." "Well, what will you do with this?" "We could try opening it or using the contents in some way. Find out what it looks/smells like. If not, the Party Leader should keep it safe until later."
Brickdoctor Posted September 22, 2011 Author Posted September 22, 2011 "Is this something we must do each night? I'm guessing not as we all seemed to prepare quickly for the battle a few nights past." QM Note:No. It's just part of the story. I'll make it clear whenever there's some action you absolutely must perform.
Darkdragon Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 I pick up the bottle carefully, looking it over for symbols and checkingif I 'feel' any magic emanating from it.
swils Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Well, I, uh.. His eyes dart around the group Sure, why not! Who knows, maybe it could be a magical growth serum that'll restore me to my proper stature! Ha ha! I've got a potion here in case I get knocked off my feet.. Nervous but curious, Thormanil waits to see if any of the party has other thoughts regarding the bottle
Brickdoctor Posted September 22, 2011 Author Posted September 22, 2011 I pick up the bottle carefully, looking it over for symbols and checkingif I 'feel' any magic emanating from it. You see no markings and cannot 'feel' anything about it.
Darkdragon Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 (edited) I hand the bottle to Thormanil. "No idea what it is, I don't see any markings or feel any magic coming from it while closed. If you want to give it a swig, be my guest. " I step back a good distance from Thormanil after he accepts the bottle. Just in case. Edited September 22, 2011 by darkdragon
ADHO15 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Nervous but curious, Thormanil waits to see if any of the party has other thoughts regarding the bottle "Go ahead, Master Nihai. We have remedies and potions should anything unfortunate happen. Let us hope the content's effect is a positive one." "Now I try using my emerald to clear a path as we travel through the forest."
Tamamono Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 "Personally, I don't think any of us should drink it. It could be poison for all we know!" I examine the bottle carefully, trying to determine what kind of elixir it carries.
Brickdoctor Posted September 22, 2011 Author Posted September 22, 2011 "Now I try using my emerald to clear a path as we travel through the forest." "But can't you see that we've been following a trail for the past three days? There is already a path here."
swils Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 (edited) Thormanil accepts the bottle from Cinna, uncorks it, and gives it a sniff WHEW! That's got a bite to it! Anyone got some sugar, maybe just a spoonful? Hearing some objection from Tomas, he hesitates, though having the tentative approval of a few of his comrades, as well as the Tomas' right-hand gal, *and* having already popped the top, it seems almost impossible to stop now! Brickdoctor Posted September 22, 2011 Author Posted September 22, 2011 I examine the bottle carefully, trying to determine what kind of elixir it carries. You can't determine anymore than Cinna could. That is to say, you don't find out anything.
Tamamono Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 Hearing some objection from Tomas, he hesitates, though having the tentative approval of a few of his comrades, as well as the Tomas' right-hand gal, *and* having already popped the top, it seems almost impossible to stop now! "Well, alright. I am a cleric, so I can heal you/give you a Remedy if anything goes wrong."
Brickdoctor Posted September 22, 2011 Author Posted September 22, 2011 Thormanil downs the bottle's contents... *POOF!* Thormanil disappears in the stereotypical cloud of smoke. When the smoke clears, he seems to have grown taller - by about one stud. His muscles, on the other hand, are noticeably larger than they were before. His overall power has increased by one! swils Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 (edited) "Well, alright. I am a cleric, so I can heal you/give you a Remedy if anything goes wrong." A smug grin spreads across Thormanils face Now THAT's the spirit, Tomas! Alright folks, shields up, wands ready, for all we know I could be the next case-study on spontaneous combustion! Down the hatch! Putting the bottle to his lips, he tips it upwards and drinks it dry. Holding it above his mouth, he shakes out the last few drops. See? Nothing to worry abo- Gagging and clutching his throat, Thormanil stumbles about, spinning around and falling to the ground. As the party starts to come to his aid, he jumps up, laughing so hard that he begins to cry AHH-HA-HA-HA! Gotcha! Ha ha ha... I do believe I'm quite alright, though it's got a nice warmth to it like a good whiskey... He waits a few more moments to see if he sprouts a third arm or anything strange of the sort. ADHO15 Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 "But can't you see that we've been following a trail for the past three days? There is already a path here." "Calm down, Master Shawe. I was simply assessing the surroundings and looking for a shortcut to present itself. It seems the path we are following is indeed the quickest route." "Congratulations on your improved power, Master Nihai. The risk was indeed worth taking."
Brickdoctor Posted September 22, 2011 Author Posted September 22, 2011 Edit: OOC#2: Just noticed this, but there's actually only one "l" in my username, doc QM Note:Oops. Are we ready to continue traveling until the next Night?
Tamamono Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 "Wow! It's a good thing you drank it, Thormanil! Congratulations on your new power!" Are we ready to continue traveling until the next Night? "I believe so. Onward!"
Tanma Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 De'kra nodded that it might be a good idea to continue on their quest. They don't have to heal at the moment. The shade made a mental note to ask the Mage and dark power where she got her powers from, since she hadn't heard him the first time. There was something about her eruption of darkness that worried him.
Darkdragon Posted September 22, 2011 Posted September 22, 2011 "Nice one Thormanil. Next battle should be even easier for you now. I'm in agreement, let's keep moving." As we walk this day, I explain to De'kra that mages are born with the power to tap into elemental energies. We take training to learn to control our power and harness the elements, and also to respect them. Most of my family are mages though I am the first to be drawn to the Darkness power.
