BaronSat Posted September 30, 2006 Author Posted September 30, 2006 good point, so do you sell custom figs ??? or are you trying to appeal to the upper-class of LEGO collecting with your "Ferrari Testarossa".- BrickMiner No because I'm not good in customizing figures, I don't sculpt or paint. Im just good putting a brick on another. Yes, I'd love to be the builder for snob and rich people means I would be rich too :-D Seriously, I just find funny the idea that $100,000 for a car is cheap. BaronSat Posted October 2, 2006 Author Posted October 2, 2006 Hello Pirates, Sorry to post a new after another but I have made half the work on modelizing Puerto Brico and here's a first render. Just have to make the other half :-| Eric / BaronSat Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 2, 2006 Governor Posted October 2, 2006 It looks good in CG form! Which program are you using to design that? Mclad? Quote
BaronSat Posted October 2, 2006 Author Posted October 2, 2006 It looks good in CG form! Which program are you using to design that? Mclad? Mr Phes, Yes, I used MLCAD and L3PAO for rendering. BTW the first render was incomplete here a second one with the palmtree Too bad the leaves don't exists as .dat so I had to make a little "do-it-yourself". Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 2, 2006 Governor Posted October 2, 2006 That's an interesting approach to a palm tree! Is that a spider on top of it? This section of alone Puerto Brico alone looks like it would make a decent set. Its a pitty The LEGO Company never thought to make a port fromsmaller sets that could be interconnected, or stand alone depending on the builder's preference. Quote

Yes, of course it's a spider, in a pirate life danger is everywhere!!! I previously wrote I have made half the work but that was not true I forgot the ship. Now I have made 2/3 of the work, here's a render of it. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 4, 2006 Governor Posted October 4, 2006 You're doing a splendid job BaronSat! If only The LEGO Company had released small vessels like this - it would be marvellous! BaronSat here's a hypothetical... If The LEGO Company approached you and asked you to design the sets for a new Pirate theme providing you conformed to their rules, would you accept or tell them no thanks I've got my own business? As a good brick mercenary I would say : "How much?" >:-) But as a long time fan I would say : "Yesssssssssssssssssssssssssss". Of course yes. *sweet* So everybody, if you met someone from TLC remember to mention my name and adress... mh, maybe I shouldn't write that because I'm sure that some of you are ready for that kind of bet ?!?!?! You little rapscallions! Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 4, 2006 Governor Posted October 4, 2006 With your current business, how many of these Puerto Bricos would you expect to sell? Quote
BaronSat Posted October 4, 2006 Author Posted October 4, 2006 With your current business, how many of these Puerto Bricos would you expect to sell? Didn't I already mention that??? Sorry must have forgot. As the sets will contains rare parts (and not only the one that can be easily seen) I have enought of them to sale 4 sets. And 1 of them is pre-sold before I checked the price, that left 3. After that I don't know what I will do, but there's no hurry, I'll see that if that's necessary. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 4, 2006 Governor Posted October 4, 2006 Can you mention what that rare piece is or is it a secret? Quote
El Bucanero Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 So there are more Puerto Brico's?! The renderings are great,HOW DID YOU MADE THE SAILS?!, if you give us a part list we can buy them on bricklink or so. Quote
BaronSat Posted October 4, 2006 Author Posted October 4, 2006 Can you mention what that rare piece is or is it a secret? It's not a secret but it's boring, they are plates or brick in size or color that makes them uncommon or rare. Didn't happened to you that when you search parts on BL you found that 8x8 or 1x1 plate was hard to find or very rare? That's the kind of things. So there are more Puerto Brico's?!The renderings are great,HOW DID YOU MADE THE SAILS?! The sails are 2D pictures I applied on the render. ...if you give us a part list we can buy them on bricklink or so. And what else Mr Tiber? You want my lady, myleather jacket and my beer :-P Quote

That's the kind of things. Actually no, I've only ever made one BrickLink order about 2 years ago. I get most of my parts off eBay so I just grab whatever comes along I think I might need. As it happens I've got an over abudance of specialised pieces and insufficient generic pieces so what I'll have to do is take out a BrickLink order for those. And what else Mr Tiber? You want my lady, myleather jacket and my beer :-P I second that :-P Quote
El Bucanero Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 I already have a leather jacket and a beer, but what do I need to do with a lady? I'd prefer a ship... Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 4, 2006 Governor Posted October 4, 2006 You don't need to do anything with a lady, Mr Tiber. Admiral Starwind would benefit from your mindset right about now! :-D Quote
BaronSat Posted October 4, 2006 Author Posted October 4, 2006 I already have a leather jacket and a beer, but what do I need to do with a lady? I'd prefer a ship... I'll tell you when you'll be a big boy... excepted if you prefer to married a vessel like Kirk! Quote
El Bucanero Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 I'll tell you when you'll be a big boy... You don't need to tell me that anymore...But a true pirate loves his ship, what could be a lady... Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 4, 2006 Governor Posted October 4, 2006 A "lady" is just a politer word for "wench" . Now wasn't this thread originally about Puerto Brico? I'm sure I saw a wench mini-figure in one of the pictures. Queston for BaronSat: Does Mclad mini-figures? Or can their wireframes be imported from other 3D modelling programs? Quote

Or can their wireframes be imported from other 3D modelling programs? Yes you can modelize minifigures with MLCAD and it's possible to import from other 3D software too. I didn't put the minifigures on my renders because I was lazy and it's not very fun to do. A lot of the hair parts or headpieces and accessories don't exist so that can be really boring. :-( Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 5, 2006 Governor Posted October 5, 2006 BaronSat, did you consciously make an effort to incorporate female mini-figures in your MOC? You're probably quite aware that many AFOL's have been discussing the lack of female mini-figures in recent LEGO sets, so I'm wondering if this has had any influence. Quote

No I wasn't aware of that discussion, but thanks now I know... and it's true. TLC more women please! I put female minifigures just because the world is like that, so it has always seemed normal to me. And of course I love women so I won't exclude them of my models. ;-) And because the world is full of diversity, I also include differents ethnic minifigures. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 5, 2006 Governor Posted October 5, 2006 How did you represent the different ethnicities? I see there is a mini-figure with dark brown skin but I cannot access your Brickshelf Folder at the moment to see if there are any closes up. Is this mini-figure intended to be of Afro-Caribbean decent? Quote

Is this mini-figure intended to be of Afro-Caribbean decent? Mr Phes, Yes and there a guy from far east to (see the black turban). I also planned to ad a chinese she pirate but finally she didn't found a place? This tread seems to turn to a discussion for the 2 of us, I wonder if people needs more informations? Who will write the 100th post? Quote
oo7 Posted October 5, 2006 Posted October 5, 2006 I think Phes is refering to the dark skinned man holding the crab in the rowboat, not the guy on the bridge with the turban. Baron Sat, do you ship your models in one peice or do you go through the chore of making instructions? Or do you sell it glued? (well mabey not the minifigs) Who will write the 100th post? I will!
