There is a thread here from earlier this year, but the last reply was in March so I thought it best to just start a new thread. That onlder thread also links to one from the previous year. There is also currently a thread here dealing with which factions people want to see and I don't want to take away from that so this is primarily what sets people want to see. There will be some crossover I am sure ("I want a Black Falcon castle" etc) but I think it's possible these threads in the past have had an impact so it's probably best to keep them focused on the topic.

Here is a some of what I posted in Jan 2010:

Those are some general ideas of what I would like to see down the road. Here are some that are a little more specific.

Blacksmith Shop Every side needs something like this to supply arms. It could come with a blacksmith and an apprentice or two. It would need to have numerous weapons and racks for the weapons. A furnace area with water near by. It would also come with chest armor pieces. If these are printed, it could come with some for both factions that way you can choose which side they are on. Maybe a soldier for each side so that one can act as the guard no matter which side you choose.

A Jousting Tournament set I'm thinking a lot more like 6060 Knight's Challenge than the more recent set. This would have one or more royals, possibly a civilian or two, and some stands to fill out. The two horses would have barding and there would be a variety of weapons for the knights. We're likely going to get something like this at some point so I figure it would be nice if it were a little more like this one than the most recent one.

Trade Caravan This would have multiple wagons (well, at least 2 anyway) loaded up with goods, jewels, or gold. They wouldn't have to be big wagons. Each could be driven by a peasant or merchant type. There would be a couple of soldiers to defend them and a couple to attack. We're going to get wagons so we may as well get decent ones that might give us civilian figures.

An Armored Wagon/Carriage This would be a larger, armored wagon for the king of one side or the other (or some other member of the royality). it would probably be a two horse wagon and it would be enclosed. It would need a driver and at least 2 soldiers as guards. Again, if we're going to get wagons we as may as well get some variety.

I cut out the bits that obviously didn't get made into anything. Now, maybe I just had really good timing (I consider that the most likely explanation) or maybe the designers saw this and got some ideas because we got a Blacksmith set, we are getting a Joust set, and bits of the last two ideas seemed to have been merged into the King's Carriage set. There was also talk in teh other thread of civilian sets, specifically windmill and farm type sets. Like I said, I think I, and other posters, just got lucky in our guessing/wishing, but maybe not. If not, then let's throw out some more ideas we want to see and discuss them.

For now I'm sticking with some of my ideas from past threads.

Large Castle for the Dragon Knights -This one's kind of obvious. With the Lion guys having a large castle the other side needs one as well. I assume the Prison Tower is an indication of the general style any other structure for the Dragon Knights will follow. I imagine it will be more along the lines of the Troll Fortress. The walls closer together and being generally smaller in ground coverage, but having taller towers. I imagine it will be primarily black with brown accents to presumably represent wood. This set would serve to supply a number of Dragon Knights, possibly a king (and who knows, maybe a queen as well), and maybe some new barding.

A Seaside Port/Fortress-This would be similar to the one with the Skeleton Ship. It could be more like a seaside port and focus on a couple of small buildings, a peer, and some smaller boats. Or, it could be more of a seaside fortress with a small dock. This one would have an opening for smaller boats instead of the typical front gate and feature mounted siege weapons to fight off enemy ships. If it were a larger set, it could feature a ship about the size of the Skeleton ship or a larger version of the older Sea Serpent. The other set of options are if the ships are friends or foes. If they're friends then the ships will be cargo ships and if they are foes the ships will be attack ships.

A Castle Creator set. A real one in the $50-70 range, not the small ones from last couple years. There are a lot of ways to go with it. The first thing is, like the Creator houses, it probably won't have any figures. This will help it have a high piece count for it's cost. Beyond that, it could be just about anything that had lots of bley bricks. If it stuck primarily with bricks, there is no reason it couldn't be a small castle, a tower, a stretch of high border wall or outer castle wall, etc. I don't believe making alternate models will be difficult. It would be an excellent source of lots of bley parts. It could also be used as a place to get parts like roofing tiles that aren't easy to come by in certain colors/shapes. The set could serve as an intro to more detailed Castle building and could possibly feature limited landscaping as well.

And a new one from another recent post:

Heroica figures in minifig scale. Either in full sets representing the area the game takes place in, or just the figures in stand alone sets of some type.

LOVE the idea of a Creator Castle set-- big enough to build a castle comparable to the typical $99 set, but without all the playability built right in. I would prefer to see it include the portcullis. If they wanted to make it great, they could include some generic slopes or something of various colors, most likely red or green to customize Lion or Dragon. And if they wanted to make it truly EPIC, they could include a base flag shape (say black) and include a sticker sheet to customize as Lion, Dragon or (never gonna happen) even past factions. That'd be amazing-- could you imagine including Black Falcon or even Crownie stickers in a new set????

No, me neither...

The previous post also brings up a curious topic for me-- what about the Dragon King? And or his queen? Typically we've seen the Royal Family only applied to the unequivocably 'good' factions of the past and present, while dedicated 'evil' factions usually got a ruler and his witch, or were ruled by some crazy evil wizard type. So, then, are the Dragon Knights truly evil? Or are they just another faction who happens to know they look good in black, and also appreciate the aesthetics of a well-drawn dragon? Personally I'd love to see a Dragon King happen before they kill off the theme, a truly unique character that could join the pantheon of classic Lego characters...

LOVE those ideas. Especially the seaside thing. I absolutely loved the one with the skeleton ship and almost got it, but I hated the ship itself too much. I think that it should have a decent dock with a small battlemented tower with a crane (in the water/on the docks). then you would have a heavy door to the docks set in some walls covered in ballistae surrounding a trading area. It would also need a back door of course to get the goods you bought overland to sell elsewhere, but the front door would have to be stronger to protect against sea attackers.

As for the Dragon Knights castle, I'm thinking of basic walls to connect to the tower that can be arranged lots of ways and have a small back door. That way it could stand alone as a small castle with small double doors, but then you could also combine it with the tower and have the tower portcullis be the main entrance. Also with walls then the other prison (7187) would serve a purpose. I mean, it has a nice big gate, but if you want to get through you can just walk around.

Some other ideas:

Some sort of river w/bridge

A large river is great as a natural barrier against your enemies, but you have to have a way of crossing it. Basically something like 6078 or 7079, except a LOT smaller, maybe even a small bridge with a little wooden viking-style structure, so that it could exist alongside better large sets.

Something like any of these: 5188082303_f5b8ccbdb1.jpg

A small-ish sailing ship

A little island tower?

Edited as I had improvements to my ideas...

I attempted to do some stats based on the previous line of castle but am sure my predictions will be way off....!

A large 'baddie' base would be good (seeing that the trolls got their fortress, but don't know how well that did?). If we do see a king, I'd guess he'd be on his own (no queen) as the grumpy/evil queen role seems to be taken by the lion queen (or that might just be her face). Maybe with an eyepatch or scar and some personal guards. But basically a slightly rundown castle with a moat.

I was going to suggest another dragon carriage (as the skeletons got one last time) but as we've had a smaller dragons carriage then maybe not.

An update to the maiden carriage would be good. A mysterious dragon knight female (with dark green hood!) in a small carriage with one soldier, being ambused by two 'bandits' (a nod to wolfpack would be awesome), mainly because I don't see the Lions as the attacking type.

To balance this all out the lions would need some siege equipment (bow/battering ram etc) in a lion favoured 'vs' set. Or a border checkpoint/outpost, similar to the dragon prison rescue, a wall with a couple of lion knights including a mounted one... and perhaps some bandits thrown in for good measure trying to cross the border, with stolen goods.

Another civilian based set would be good, maybe a carriage/cart...with a donkey...(please!). This could be based around a well, and have one figure with donkey and cart, another child figure herding goats/pigs.

In a side note, it will be interesting to see how the Joust exclusive will fit in to whatever the bring out, as two warring factions joing together for a joust could change the 'storyline dynamic' a bit.

Those are some great ideas!

I hope Lego decides to stick to the less fantasy oriented sets, the current Kingdom set has been great. Personally, I'd love to see the return to the Forestmen theme.

I am hoping for a king and queen just to round it out, but I could it just being a king. If it is just a king, then I hope he has some character to him like you describe here (the eyepatch or scar) and a unique euro armor piece.

More civilian sets are a must. The cart idea is the easiest way and maybe it will give us more gray horses (maybe without the blinders).

Yeah I imagine her a bit like Lady de winter (?) from The 3 musketeers, but the main idea stemmed from needing a female dragon fig, but a queen/princess didn't seem to fit with their current wizard led (again an assumption) faction. Also I'm sure a dark green hood would be hugely popular.

Yeah another gray horse is probably more likely than a new mould for a donkey, but would be cool nonetheless.

Having now read through your other two similar older threads I'd also like to suggest a 'half-way tavern' in the style of MMV. It could be thought of as an update to the guarded inn, with a stable and mixture of factions and peasants. Would fit nicely with my dragon maiden carriage idea, imagining she has some top secret meeting with a lion traitor.

I would also suggest a bandits hideout, maybe in a rock/cave. In a dream world this would include the new bear mould (mainly because I hope we will see it appear in a castle set).

That sounds like an great idea because the dragon knights always seem to be outnumbered against the lion knights, the dragon knights only have prisons at the moment and no royal family just the wizard.

A genuine Dragon Knights castle would be nice before the Kingdoms line is retired; however, I feel the Prison Tower Rescue serves that purpose, and the Dragons Knights were also featured as rivals in the village sets this summer.

For future castle sets, I'd like to see a return of the Vikings / Norse mythology theme.

I think you're probably right, I'd be surprised (though pleasantly surprised) to see a large dragon castle, it tends to be the heroes/protagonists (in this case the Lion knights) that get the traditional King, Queen and castle (I know the trolls got one last time, but only a king).

That said think it would be great if Lego went away from the classic King and castle dynamic for the next wave and introduced a more viking/barbarian style theme. Replacing Kings with lower level warlords/chiefs, this way each set can have it's own clan/faction and the whole theme could have a less 'clean-cut' feel (ie not armour, tunics, princesses and grand castles), but more forests, wild animals (bears for the castle theme pretty please!) and snow-covered fortresses... (yeah someone did mention a minifig scale heroica another thread...)
