Bob Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 CHAPTER TWO - MEET THE CORONER The townspeople woke the next day, and, after breakfast, assembled nearby the Town Hall. A few moments later, the familiar doctor's car was in view, driving down the street towards the gathered amateur investigators. Two men got out; Doctor Barker and an older doctor. "Hello, I'm Doctor Marcus. I performed the autopsy on Chief McGovern. I'll answer any questions you might have." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Players (14) Mr. Jack Montgomery --- Mrlegoninja Mrs. Julia Montgomery --- Dannylonglegs Jeremy Montgomery --- ADHO15 Mr. Alex Jordan --- Cralegoboy Mrs. Sarah Jordan --- Brickdoctor Mr. Winston Robertson --- Rumble Strike Amber Robertson --- Peanuts Officer Steven Jackson --- Professor Flitwick Ashley Baker --- K-nut Marcus Baker --- CallMePieOrDie Officer Ryan Hutch --- badboytje88 Mr. James Swanson --- CorneliusMurdock Robbie Swanson --- Jedi master Brick Deputy Chief Jackie Scott --- Fugazi Deceased: Police Chief Arnold McGovern --- def Rules: (Borrowed partly from Dragonator’s Mystery Manor and Red Scare Mystery) 1. There are 16 participants. If you commit to the game you are committing to contributing to the story and sticking with it to the end. 2. You must search for clues. This means that an action must be specified. For example, you wish to search a room for hidden objects. The following is an example of how not to go about this: "I wish to look for suspicious or hidden objects in this room". Instead, you must be able to specify what you want to do. For example: "I would like to open the drawers of the cabinet." It is not required for you to specify exactly what you are doing and what you are looking for, but a generalized statement will not find you anything. Act like a detective and you will be fine. I will always give a detailed explanation of a room, however, feel free to ask for clarification. 3. Please be patient with me between chapters, I will try to put up the chapter topics as quickly as possible, but, this might not be so all the time. 4. Please try to avoid editing your posts. If you made a spelling error, simply post immediately after correcting your spelling error. If you wish to add more, a double post can be made, however use this rule wisely. Obviously, you may not make a quadruple post. Please wait for someone else to post before you post something else, unless absolutely necessary. 5. You can reference anything in pop culture, as this is being played real time. You can mention current events if you want to. You can use any electronic device that you wish to use, with exception. For example, you can’t take out your time machine to determine who the killers are. 6. I won’t keep you in a certain room if you don’t want me too. However, you may not return to a room that you were already in, so ensure that you have searched every part of the room before leaving. 7. There are a few NPC’s in certain areas of the town. These NPC’s might have evidence, however they might not. Also, the evidence given by them might be false information. You cannot do anything other than talk to these NPC’s. You can only go and speak to them when you arrive in their area. For example, each NPC is in a certain part of the town. If you’re at point A, you cannot go and speak to an NPC at point B. 8. Failure to follow these rules will result in a warning. A second failure will result in the death of your character. 9. There are no night actions or chapter actions. However, there are Miscellaneous Actions. With this system, if you’d like to PM me a non-lethal action (I.E; “I’d like to go visit Player A”), then that’s fine. However, things that could harm people (I.E; “I’d like to go kill Player A”) are not allowed. These are only allowed at night. Night comes at the end of every chapter. I’ll allow most anything, so let your imaginations go wild. However, you can’t leave Lexington. That is not a valid action. 10. No Metagaming please. Also, don’t base suspicions on how the person looks. 11. There will be a life-point system. Every player starts out with ten life-points, and regenerates one life point at the end of a chapter. For example, if you fall and twist your ankle, you’d likely lose one life point. If you fall off a boat into an engine prop, you’re likely to lose most if not all of your life points. Think logically. Perhaps walking along the rickety boards in the construction zone is not a good idea. 12. The host is usually always right. If you think he’s wrong, feel free to send me a message about it. 13. Most of all have fun. This game is meant to be enjoyable despite the "questionable" things occurring. Rules may be added or deleted as the game goes on based on game play. You may now speak to: Doctor Harold Marcus, Coroner Doctor Barker
K-Nut Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Hello Doctor! Do you know what killed the chief?
ADHO15 Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Do you have any evidence from the state of the Chief's injuries that this was murder and not just an accident?
CMP Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Hello Doctor! Do you know what killed the chief? I think we already know the answer to that. My question is who killed the chief, but I doubt the doctor has any answers to that. Um...I don't have a lot to ask this guy. The most important question has already been asked.
Professor Flitwick Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 "So, Dr. Marcus, what can you tell us about the bodies of Chief McGovern and his wife?"
Peanuts Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 I think the most important question has already been asked by Jeremy, and I can't think of anything else I could ask. I think we can assume the chief's wife has actually died of suicide, as everyone who knew about the murder, save for Doctor Barker, the reporter and maybe the chief's killer, was with our group back then and therefore can't have killed her. And if she died of suicide, I think we'll learn nothing important by her death.
Bob Posted September 23, 2011 Author Posted September 23, 2011 Hello Doctor! Do you know what killed the chief? "Blunt force trauma to the head." Do you have any evidence from the state of the Chief's injuries that this was murder and not just an accident? "I found a bruise nearby his jaw that wasn't really visible at the crime scene. I'm assuming this bruise was caused when someone struck him, causing him to fall back." "So, Dr. Marcus, what can you tell us about the bodies of Chief McGovern and his wife?" "Mrs. McGovern was an obvious suicide and Chief McGovern was killed a few moments after he hit his head on the fountain side. His body temperature told me that he was dead at least six hours, putting his murder somewhere at midnight."
CorneliusMurdock Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 Were there any other markings in the Chief's body? What was his blood alcohol content?
Bob Posted September 24, 2011 Author Posted September 24, 2011 Were there any other markings in the Chief's body? What was his blood alcohol content? "His blood alcohol content was way over the legal limit. He had a few other markings on his body. There was a bruise on his leg, torso and on his arm that didn't appear to be recent." Where are the bodies now? "The Monterey County morgue."
Fugazi Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 "His blood alcohol content was way over the legal limit. He had a few other markings on his body. There was a bruise on his leg, torso and on his arm that didn't appear to be recent." So I gather the Chief was drunk, someone followed him at night, punched him on the jaw and he fell striking his head. Which means that the person who hit him didn't necessarily want to kill him, or they would have used other means. Doctor Marcus, could the other bruises be bullet wounds from the Chief's life in the police force? Or more like bruises from fighting someone?
Professor Flitwick Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 "Were there any signs of bruises or wounds on Mrs. McGovern, that weren't fatal? Finding out more about the chiefs domestic life could lead us to a new angle."

Doctor Marcus, could the other bruises be bullet wounds from the Chief's life in the police force? Or more like bruises from fighting someone? "None of them were bullet wounds, however the one on his arm appeared to be a bump from a fall, since there was a bit of swelling. The others would require to much speculation to guess." "Were there any signs of bruises or wounds on Mrs. McGovern, that weren't fatal? Finding out more about the chiefs domestic life could lead us to a new angle." "There wasn't any sort of a bruise on Mrs. McGovern. I believe by all accounts they had a happy marriage." At that moment, Mayor Bob approaches. "The coroner has other matters to attend to, I'm sure of that. I believe you should try to get some investigating done today. Pick somewhere that you'd like to go to." Doctor Marcus and Doctor Barker depart.
Brickdoctor Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 I'd like to know if we are now allowed to return to the Chief's house.
Professor Flitwick Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 "I think it could be worth a trip back the the police station; we hacked into the computer, but didn't get far into searching through it."
Peanuts Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 I wonder why you want to go back to the chief's home, Sarah? Do you think we've forgotten something? I don't really know what to look for, the evidence suggests the chief died brawling drunkenly with someone. Although, of course, there are certain dubieties, such as why there is only one bruise, while a brawl would indicate several punches. Couldn't the chief withstand a single mere blow? And according to the criminal records the only citizen who has shown himself to be violent is James, but only once, so he's not showing a tendency either. So who could the chief have fought against? There's still a second theory, which sounds far-fetched, but I came to think about it: It seems like all the police officers are rather ambigious, and like the chief was in the way of all their promotions. What if one of them didn't want to wait for him to retire, knew he used to drink heavily and wants his death not to look like a murder? It's just my only theory apart from the obvious. I'm not sure what to look for, as I already said, or where to look. I think, Town Hall could provide something, or, following the above theory, to one of the police officers' houses. "I think it could be worth a trip back the the police station; we hacked into the computer, but didn't get far into searching through it." Right, I forgot about that. Sounds like the best course of action to me.

What if one of them didn't want to wait for him to retire, knew he used to drink heavily and wants his death not to look like a murder? It's just my only theory apart from the obvious. It's a valid theory although I don't like the sound of it. Of course as I just mentioned I don't think that the murderer had planned to kill the Chief. On the other hand, he might have had a gun or a knife as well and didn't need to use it. Oh well, let's go back to the police station and continue our investigation there.
Brickdoctor Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 "I think it could be worth a trip back the the police station; we hacked into the computer, but didn't get far into searching through it." Good idea. I wonder why you want to go back to the chief's home, Sarah? Do you think we've forgotten something? For thoroughness' sake. We didn't really finish searching it. Though I do agree that returning to the computer is the best thing to do.
Bob Posted September 24, 2011 Author Posted September 24, 2011 The townspeople arrive at the police station, and unlock the Chief's Computer again. On the desktop are four folders marked cases, reports, evaluations, and photographs, a calender program, and various word documents. The background image is a palm tree.
Brickdoctor Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 I'd like to know the titles of all documents. (not limited to Word documents)
Fugazi Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 I'd like to have a look at his calendar for the last days. Maybe he was planning on meeting someone the night he was killed?
Mrlegoninja Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 I'd like through look through the pictures on the computer and see if there are any photos that could help us. Bob Posted September 25, 2011 Author Posted September 25, 2011 (edited) I'd like to know the titles of all documents. (not limited to Word documents) There's a few documents labeled with each of the officers. Other documents include important emergency phone numbers, case files, reports, and the like. It would appear that all of the files from the file cabinet are on the Chief's Computer as well. I'd like to have a look at his calendar for the last days. Maybe he was planning on meeting someone the night he was killed? On the night the Chief was killed, he was scheduled to have dinner with his wife at 6 in the evening and then see a movie with his wife. I'd like through look through the pictures on the computer and see if there are any photos that could help us. I'd like through look through the pictures on the computer and see if there are any photos that could help us. None of the pictures appear to be helpful in any way. There's various pictures of the Chief in uniform, crime scene photos, and pictures from the latest LPD Barbeque, all in one folder. Edited September 25, 2011 by Bob_
Brickdoctor Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 I'd like to read all the documents. Aloud, if possible.
badboytje88 Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 I'd like to check out all of the pictures and read the documents on the desk.
