Praiter Yed Posted October 8, 2011 Author Posted October 8, 2011 (edited) Very nice Praiter Yed, that face transfer is spot on . I think the face is a pretty good match but credit should go to Lego for that one . I'm not well versed on characters from Harry Potter but that face is from 4865 Forbidden Forest . LandShark Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 These are some very nice figures, Praiter Yed. Very professional-looking. The face/hair combination for Aunt Beru works perfectly. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do next. Quote

Yup I was using a technical device often utilised when you are impressed with someone's work but can't say it (it's known as humour ). I like the torso print but it looks a bit grainy on the photo. Now i don't know whether to take you seriously or not . I think the grain in the photo is dots from the ink-jet print which are emphasised by the size of the image. This wasn't as apparent on my earlier customs due to relying on the surface of the lego to provide the background colour. Also the photo hasn't captured the sheen that the varnish ads which give the decal a nice Lego-ey look. But can't complain the other ones photographed well so swings and roundabouts, horses for courses etc. I'd appreciate some opinions on the arm prints for the Imperial Scanning Crew (reference below)... Please ignore the quality of the Imperial Logo, I'm sure I can improve on this, what I would like to know is, If you think I should: 1. Only apply imperial Logos to the arms? 2. Apply both logo and control panel? or 3. Apply only the control panel? My feeling is that (2.) logo and control panel is a bit too much detail. Edited October 9, 2011 by Praiter Yed Quote

None-the-less, I think all three look good, but if you think #2 is too much detail, then I would definitely go for #1. But, since the rest of the figure will be pretty plain, detailed arms might look good... Quote

Easy, put the logo on the left arm and the control panel on the right arm. That's how it is in the reference images, and it wouldn't use too much detail. Exellent decal work! Quote

Apply only the control panel? My first post was the joke but I should have used a emoticon to make it clearer . As for the transfers for the scanning crew, I think just the Imperial Logo, the scanner as well looks like overkill, and could end up being a markings overdose like CC Bobba or the new ARC Trooper. Thanks for those much appreciated opinions guys . darthnihilus - the imperial logo is on both arms it's just difficult to see on the reference because there's a reflection on it. I had a feeling that opinions would favour the logo - it's also my preference but unfortunately means I'll need to invest in some new punch pliers - the cheap ones I recently bought are crap Quote
Praiter Yed Posted February 11, 2012 Author Posted February 11, 2012 (edited) You don't really have to customise any Lego to make this little Treadwell droid but I think it looks better if you do... The little white droid is 2X-3KPR (Tooex) and Luke's floppy hat is copied from the technique shown on pg3 here which is attributed to Dr Venkman. Edited February 11, 2012 by Praiter Yed Quote
Mr Man Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 The little white droid is 2X-3KPR (Tooex) Those two droids are great, but I don't remeber the Tredwell droid been green , I may have to forc myself to watch ANH again . Quote

Well I'd hate to take away your excuse to watch ANH, but the treadwell should really be blue. It was supposed to be part of a vignette I'm working on but I had to reject it because of the colour - which is a shame because I like the size and simplicity of it Quote
TLOR FETT Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 I really like your decals Praiter, I deff would like to make my own figures using your designs Quote

K-Nut Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 I love how you did the hat! Great work. Quote
Praiter Yed Posted February 12, 2012 Author Posted February 12, 2012 I love how you did the hat! Great work. Well, I did copy the hat from Dr Venkman's design but I have to agree that it is pretty cool Quote
Praiter Yed Posted March 3, 2012 Author Posted March 3, 2012 (edited) There's recently been discussion in the Star Wars forum on how to fill your 10188 Death Star, well, I'd have to include Wullf Yularen... I used white waterslide decal paper for the 'tache then put a transparent decal over the top for the face. White 'hero' hair is by Brickforge. Edited March 5, 2012 by Praiter Yed Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Praiter, thank you for giving us a glimpse of never-before-released Star Wars characters in minifig form (before TLG decides to release them shortly after ), like this excellent custom Wullf Yularen. You have certainly become one of my most favorite SW customizer around with your unique customs and very clean and professional-looking works. Quote

I've always loved the whole 4 seconds this uniform is on our screens, and these are great. However I'm sure Yularen has a double breasted top, it's the junior officer next to him who has the single breasted top and belt boxes. Quote

Thanks for your kind words and also thanks for the blog. I love these. I've always loved the whole 4 seconds this uniform is on our screens, and these are great. Thanks Mr Man, it is nice to have some variety in Imperial Officer's uniforms and I'll probably do a couple of generic versions of this when I can get my hand on more black Kepi's. I actually owe you a little credit, as it was from reading your post about modding the CMS Mad Scientist a while ago that gave me the idea I'm not so sure about the double/single breasted top - I only had the two images on wookipedia as reference and it's pretty hard to tell - either way, I think I can live with this version (at least for now ). OOH really . I had a look at the images again and it looks like, when you pass him on the DS corridors (when he's with the other ISB officer) he's wearing a single breasted top, and in the conference room scene he's wearing a double breasted version. Praiter Yed Posted March 20, 2013 Author Posted March 20, 2013 (edited) Finally found a little time to do some minor customising and will hopefully be posting some updates of my earlier figures and one or two new ones soon(ish). This one seems quite topical with the Brickarms release of the E-11 (I thought it was never going to happen ). Here's some Sandtroopers with a Brickarms Lewis Gun & Prototype E-11 they're also wearing pauldrons from Brick Forge which I think work much better than the official cloth versions (it's such a shame they're not available with orange print ). And here's my attempt at a bespoke face decal for Leia - I'd love some C&C on this as I find it very hard designing Lego faces and am never really sure if I've got it right. She also has a modified Brickarms Spy Carbine which I think works well for her Sporting Blaster as seen onboard Tantive IV in Star Wars (aka Episode IV: A New Hope). They say the camera never lies, but the line of the decal you can see at the bottom of her face is not visible to the naked eye (or at least mine ). Edited March 20, 2013 by Praiter Yed Quote
RoyalBrickCustoms Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Looks AWESOME!!! :D Is her hair custom? I don't think I've seen that hairpiece anywhere. Great work on the decals. Can't wait to see what else you come up with. Keep up the good work. :) ~RBC Quote
Praiter Yed Posted March 20, 2013 Author Posted March 20, 2013 Thanks RoyalBrickCustoms. The hair is the new version which I think is only available in 7965 Millennium Falcon. I was lucky enough to win one in Cop Mikes' 2011 Xmas Raffle . Quote
Praiter Yed Posted March 25, 2013 Author Posted March 25, 2013 Another update to one of my earlier customs. Here I have added my new Leia face decal and a belt to the waist but more importantly a test to see if the new Series 9 Forest Maiden hair works for this fig - and aside from covering up some of the torso details I think it works really well. Perhaps if TLG do release an Ewok Village later this year they will include a Leia with this hair mold. The image on the right has been digitally altered to show brown hair...
