May 3, 201410 yr Hi efferman, the bumper looks good. You're kidding, you aren't really lacking parts? Pat
May 3, 201410 yr Author because transclear tiles are very rare in technic sets, this is unfortunately true
May 3, 201410 yr Would you mind explaining how the gearbox works? I am still trying to figure it out. tim
May 3, 201410 yr Author There are simply some clutch gears and some spur gears. No shifting mechanism or something similar.
May 4, 201410 yr Author The cab is almost done easy access to battery and channel switch some rudimentary interior 100_1183 von efferman auf Flickr
May 4, 201410 yr Hi Efferman, very nice cab. Bit shouldn't be the door handles placed lower? Can't wait to see it in real! Pat

May 4, 201410 yr Compared directly to eachother the added ground clearance of the customized portals becomes cleary visible. @Pat-Ard: very nice and realistic U20. You made a good use of the new panels! Edited May 4, 201410 yr by PhyBuilder
May 4, 201410 yr Love those customized portals. Did you need to do much fine tuning after printing? Are they compatible with wheels that comes with lego 8110 unimog or do they need 3D printed wheels too?
May 4, 201410 yr Love those customized portals. Did you need to do much fine tuning after printing? Are they compatible with wheels that comes with lego 8110 unimog or do they need 3D printed wheels too? Looks like I already did find the answer ;) Better get rims too...
May 4, 201410 yr Author They work with standard rims too. There is only one stud difference between the pivot points. Some cleaning was neccessary, because some holes are not a perfect circle. Pinholes are no problem, but the holes for the driveshaft has to be cleaned by a 4,8 or 5,0 drill to get a smooth rotation.
May 5, 201410 yr I really like your chassis design with the curved lines, I otta steal it :) Good work again Effe!
May 5, 201410 yr Author thanks guys, for more easy replicating i have made a ldd file of the chassis. the servo which is still missing in ldd is made in green, thje placeholders for my portal hubs are transclear unimog frame LDD file edith: Flatbed is final and fake battery box too 100_1189 von efferman auf Flickr edit: its final 100_1193 von efferman auf Flickr Edited May 5, 201410 yr by efferman
May 5, 201410 yr Hi efferman, great work - as usual!!! And thanks for sharing the lxf!!! It'll help building my U4000. Pat
May 5, 201410 yr The Unimog looks fantastic. I have a question, is there a noticeable difference on the amount of current draw for the servo motor when turning with the custom portals hubs compared to the LEGO portal hubs. Edited May 5, 201410 yr by Boxerlego
May 5, 201410 yr Author i use a 20/12 gear combination, with the 20 tooth on the servo, and the servo has no problems during steering
