I was wondering if none of the linear actuators or pneumatic cylinders would have the same reach as the gear rack to achieve the same movement of the stick of the excavator?

No, even the new pneumatic cylinders are shorter.

 

I've built your track module in LDD, and very impressed with the design but im struggling with your gearbox digger module could you post a photo or two of the underside please. 

maybe a lxf works better. the gearbox and frame is nearly the same

That looks like a 3d printed differential, its like a lego one but has thicker walls so it does not grind

Everything with CLAAS tires can be great, and knowing your work we are at the begining stage of yet another masterpiece. So far proportions are correct and I like chassis oscilation with turntable (like on my 2007 Case IH quadtrac...)

Why not, with your experience, determination and 48-72 hours? You have one advantage your 'technic inspector' is not envy on LEGO like my terrier or my cat
