We will see.

btw, Long live the Overkill!

@efferman How on earth do you create the cabin exterior and front engine cover so well? I really need some tips because I am absolutely horrible at that. It looks amazing, I still can't believe how perfectly in scale the cabin exterior is to the chassis! Great job Mate

This is hard to explain. I stumble over my own feet, my face touching the ground, and after getting awake again i think: this part could fit.

It is really often an positive accident by seeing a part in my chaos. Be sure to get proper pictures and/or blueprints and take a small amount of different parts on your table and playing around with them. Dont be to restrictive in dimensions or details, proportions are more important. Most of the iconic Vehicles have some shapes which makes them instantly recognizable like the Headlights and turning indicators of the G-Class. It is mostly a good idea to start with these iconic points.

Nice progress! Do you really need that adjustable length driveshaft? I think at that length, it does not change so much as the angle varies a bit, the long driveshaft results in a small difference in the angle as the suspension works, and the joints have enough slack to take it. If you built it with a fixed length driveshaft (just an axle between the two u-joints), it could not disconnect in that direction. Or have you tried that version already?

Even when the change of length is only 2mm, it has an effect for the suspension. When the friction in the crossholes is to good, the shocks wouldnt extend without problems. I would use the CV joints when the axles would be long enough.

Hmm, I see, I would have thought that at that angle and length, the change of length would be less than 1mm and would not interfere with the working of the shocks, but maybe I'm wrong. Anyway, I guessed that the reason why you did not use a CV joint is the wrong axle length. Maybe the middle part could be reworked to fit in a new type of CV joint with the 3L axle (if you can do away with the middle support hole for the axle right after the 16T grey gear). But I guess you may have other plans to fix it :)

yeah, and the fix is easier than thought.

That could work, though I prefer if the joint is not floating in the air, with the flex point being close to something fixed. Let's see how the next tests go!

Now new info - it is 4 x 4, so this 6 x 6 will be interesting alternative. Good fix Micha

Just to avoid confusion for anyone, it’s not confirmed 4x4. It’s just more rumours from a small YouTube channel.

Thoughts on a knuckle crane on the back like this one

Maybe a Yellow one, but then the tipping angle will be different.

If I see correctly, width is 21 studs; so to be i scale 1:15 distance between first and second axle should be 39 studs if you want correct proportions. With new tractor tires it would look great. Not to mention to make black chassis

Great work so far

Both dimensions are correct. Black chassis? Mercedes uses Novagrau, more or less DBG.

Do you know if Unimog uses Novagrau (new gray) or black chassis?

(Unimog special magazine that I receive via email chassis on Unimog looks black on images)

Thanks
