captainmib Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Snake looks really good, especially from the top! Quote
Gene Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Nice creation! Believe it will be even better if the wheels extend out a little more. If this model win, it will be quite sellable due to the fact that the Chinese 2013 Zodiac is Snake! Haha, China toy makers would be interested in your design! Quote
efferman Posted November 4, 2012 Author Posted November 4, 2012 gene, we will see now something completely different: first try of a rotorhead with cyclic and collective pitch control. i think it needs some tuning, what do you think? some pics 101_9838 von efferman auf Flickr Quote
timslegos Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 Wow that is super technical, only you effe. tim Quote
Paul202 Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 :) Now you just need to build a helicopter to go along with it. Quote
Thirdwigg Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 This has got to be close to the scale of the Lego 9396. Do you think you can incorporate it? Quote
efferman Posted November 5, 2012 Author Posted November 5, 2012 the rotorhead should fit, only the freightroom would be2 studs lower. the problem is, where i should place the control stick? Theres no space in the cockpit. iam thinking about a sikorsky S-58 or something like an apache. Quote
AndyCW Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 I have a friend who owns a Mosquito helicopter. It could be an inspiration for a chasis to put your rotor head into. I also doubt it has ever been done before. Quote
efferman Posted November 11, 2012 Author Posted November 11, 2012 (edited) wow, this helicopter is very tiny. i have made the mechanism a little bit more compact the levers of the cyclic control are now on one axle these allows to make the collective system more compact and stable. if all cyclic levers will move forward or backwards, the swashplate will move up or down. this works only with an swashplate ball which is good sliding on the axle here some pics of the inner mechanics 101_9852 von efferman auf Flickr Edited November 11, 2012 by efferman Quote
rm8 Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 This is something thats hard for me to understand:( I cant comment such smart constructions... make cars:) and challenge entries Quote
efferman Posted November 12, 2012 Author Posted November 12, 2012 which part do you not understand? Quote
rm8 Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 which part do you not understand? Rotors, collective, cyclic....:) Quote
efferman Posted November 13, 2012 Author Posted November 13, 2012 cyclic and collectiv are the controls of the rotorblades. cyclic is controlling the flight directions forward/backward and left/right. collective is controlling up and down Quote
efferman Posted December 24, 2012 Author Posted December 24, 2012 today i had finally enough time to begin a revival of my currently the base is finished 100_9869 von efferman auf Flickr Quote
dhc6twinotter Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Wow...I don't know how I missed you post about the rotor head. That is some awesome work you've done! I think a rotor head with cyclic and collective controls is one of the most technical things to build with LEGO. Nice work. The scrapshead moc is looking reallly great as well! Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 (edited) I think you should order so black tread sprockets. But I look forward to seeing it finished. Edited December 24, 2012 by Alasdair Ryan Quote
Edwin Korstanje Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Looks very great again Effe and will stay on too see the next progress Quote
Gene Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 Advance modeler in the making! Can't imagine how if i were to reach this level of technic building. Aesthetically pleasing was the first thought for me in Lego but the Technic gears and motors really got me cracking. Is there a Lego Academy? Should I join the mind storm learning program with the kids during school holidays? Quote
efferman Posted December 25, 2012 Author Posted December 25, 2012 I think you should order so black tread sprockets. oh, the yellow ones were intended, but somewhere i should have eight of the black ones (when the first 8043 had black tread sprockets) Advance modeler in the making! Can't imagine how if i were to reach this level of technic building. Aesthetically pleasing was the first thought for me in Lego but the Technic gears and motors really got me cracking. Is there a Lego Academy? Should I join the mind storm learning program with the kids during school holidays? iam building lego technic since more than 25 years so you should only have patience and fun during building. btw, try and error is a good way to learn how it works or why it not works Quote
efferman Posted December 26, 2012 Author Posted December 26, 2012 actual standing and hopefully in the final product included. its the 5th or 6th variationof the basic upperstructure 100_9875 von efferman on Flickr Quote
