no, my thought during building was a snowgroomer, but in meanwhile iam thinking i switch to build something like this

I got to see this live like 20 years ago.

cool, it was surely much fun.

i have made a little testrun with the fasttracks chassis which i have built this morning

i think the suspension is too soft and i have to secure the tan bevel gears. they ar falling apart at some situations

thanks guys

What happened with your log truck? Did you complete that?

not yet, it is waiting a long time that iam sorting my parts to get enough free space on my table

Though, it is slow, it has a good turning speed. I would say you need to exchange some gears

Every tracked vehicle with reasonable width should't have any problems with turning speed.

Balrog, i have the same gear ratio like my first bricksaw chassis. it seems that the portal hubs delivers too much resistance compared to somple axles through liftarms

Technically, I have to say it is an ingenious construction. Very clever use of the portal hubs. And a very clever type of suspension. Consider this stolen, once I can lay my hand on some tracks. And time.

using the portal hubs was a big mistake. they offer much more friction than a simple axle through hole setup. so i made the decission to use some oldschool parts.

and a hint for people who want to build tracked vehicles. a tight chain tension will bring additional friction so make it better a bit more loose

It seems a lot of power is needed to overcome the friction in the tracklinks.

Maybe replace 32269.gifwith some smooth parts such as 4185.gifor 42610.gif+ 50945.jpg?

I have tried some combinations and the double bevel gears works best as side support and they offer a relative smooth run.

Oh wait a minute, i have an idea this moment :)

this i would not say, the threepin connection is much more stable than a crossaxle. so it has it place of duty, but not at situations there is no weight applied on it.

at vmln8r: thanks for your suggestion
