efferman Posted January 17, 2013 Author Posted January 17, 2013 speed is good now, but it is running out of torque at higher obstacles Quote
KopMaister Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 why not use one XL motor for propultion and one L motor for steering? Quote
dhc6twinotter Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 thanks guys not yet, it is waiting a long time that iam sorting my parts to get enough free space on my table I know what that is like! Well I just thought that was a superb project, and I was curious how it was coming along. I'm looking forward to the finished project! Quote
efferman Posted January 18, 2013 Author Posted January 18, 2013 it could be that now the time is come, that sorting is necessary. now i have no free space on my table btw, a quadcore setup is not optimal for fast vehicles. a single receiver dont work good with four PF-L under high load Quote
bord4kop Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 (edited) This looks good. It is fast, but I can see the fun in making it even faster Too bad the multiple L motors did not work, as it does seem faster using them.. Your son looks sweet too, he is enjoying it doesn 't he? efferman Posted January 18, 2013 Author Posted January 18, 2013 its not my son, only babysitting for the neighbours Quote
Balrog Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 The Pampers-Saurus approaches ... bwahaha :) I bet, some of your IR issues result from all that snow, because it randomly scatters the IR signal + all the daylight (though it looks like dusk) interfers more through the snow. Quote
efferman Posted January 18, 2013 Author Posted January 18, 2013 why not use one XL motor for propultion and one L motor for steering? you think about an adder subtractor? its worth to tryi think you are right balrog, but what could we do without a light radio remote control? Quote
Balrog Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 I know ... I think Lego should finally produce some good RC equipment. It shouldn't be that hard to make a good Lego-style remote and a small receiver. A antenna can be routed through a model/MOC as desired and still give a decent radio range. Quote
Pat-Ard Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 Or even better 2.4GHz... You don't need a real antenna... Pat Quote
rm8 Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 (edited) May be two buggy motors with 2 receivers will be better? Do you have such problems at gelandewagen? As I remember it also used 4 L motors with two receivers? Where is your G? Is it still alive? Edited January 18, 2013 by rm8 Quote
efferman Posted January 18, 2013 Author Posted January 18, 2013 the G had the same connection problems, but with it slow speed they are not really big. and yes the G exists, only the PF-L are removed for the 8043 moc. the buggy motors, i have scruples two pay 30 euros for a single motor. Quote

Yes, but it cost its price;) Quote
efferman Posted January 19, 2013 Author Posted January 19, 2013 (edited) i was going a step back and using two pf-l with a 2:1 transmission, to test if it is a advatage to drive the sprocket wheels in the front and the back. it works a little bit better, but please take a look at the vid it seems that the performance decreases depending on the distance i drive. at beginning at a acceptable speed and a minute later it will go slow. does the lego lipo dont like cold temps or is the snow glueing the tracks? but anyway, i made the decission that i need a shiftable gearbox. so the plan is a adder/subtractor with a PF L for steering and a XL for drive. And a servo to switch the gears. but first i have to sort my parts, because there is too much on table. in this case my first action was to tune the table 100_9927 von efferman auf Flickr i have glued simple L shaped profiles with heavy duty double sided adhesive tape at the backside of the tables, to prevent the parts from falling off the table Edited January 19, 2013 by efferman Quote
timslegos Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 The deep snow test looks good. How much does it sink into the snow? tim Quote
efferman Posted January 20, 2013 Author Posted January 20, 2013 (edited) oh man, iam tired from sorting all the small parts, but it is done. highnoon at yesterday it was more chaos than this this is the actual situation 100_9929 von efferman auf Flickr finally i have again enough room for the logging truck Edited January 20, 2013 by efferman Quote
rm8 Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Look, we have organizers that looks very similar:) I also use this: It's transparency and rounded bottoms helps better find small details. Quote
efferman Posted January 20, 2013 Author Posted January 20, 2013 Indeed, the boxes are nearly the same Quote
efferman Posted January 23, 2013 Author Posted January 23, 2013 after a long time of done nothing in the logging truck project i can show you some progress. i have finished the rear mudguards. they will be used as platform for the trailer too 100_9936 von efferman auf Flickr Quote

Boxerlego Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 @efferman: You have many amazing MOCs through out your thread. Seeing how massive this is getting and if this were to get even bigger in page size, lets say a 100 pages, some sort of navigation must be made you individual MOCs. It could be organised easily from your opening post to link where your MOCs exist inside. What do you think about this? Quote
efferman Posted January 23, 2013 Author Posted January 23, 2013 (edited) Thanks guys At boxerlego, i think you are right. I do it in the next days Edited January 23, 2013 by efferman Quote
