efferman Posted March 28, 2013 Author Posted March 28, 2013 changed trackwidth from 19 to 18, to fit better in scale of the G63 and switched to a diffless drivetrain more technical changes are possible Quote
timslegos Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Super compact as usual that is awesome! tim Quote
rm8 Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Totally rebuilded!:o But why dont you make 1 drive shaft to axle instead of 2 ? Quote
efferman Posted March 29, 2013 Author Posted March 29, 2013 i want a good turning performance, but with the more narrow axle was no space for a diff. so i had made the decission, to use one L motor per side. Quote
Sicil Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Awesome. I'll be interesting to see the final result. Quote
jorgeopesi Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 The one L motor per side is your firm Efferman but I think if you take away the differential the challenge of making a narrow shaft is eliminated. Quote
Lipko Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 (edited) The one L motor per side is your firm Efferman but I think if you take away the differential the challenge of making a narrow shaft is eliminated. Um.... why? Why do you want to limit yourself with preconceptions of how things are usually solved? The solution of a problem is important, not trying to replicate a specific solution. I think this solution is more innovative than stuffing a regular differential inside. The problem was first, a differential is just one possible solution. IMHO Edited March 29, 2013 by Lipko Quote
efferman Posted March 29, 2013 Author Posted March 29, 2013 indeed lipko, using classic solutions is boring btw, the first frame version is finished Quote
Pat-Ard Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 WOW effe, again a real great design...I hope you'll make a lxf-file, too... It would be great to have a scalefitting G for the Unimogs!!! Pat Quote
rm8 Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 (edited) Ho-ho :) frame-master. Looks interesting. Will Tank steering work here? Will be glad to build my body on your chassis:) Edited March 29, 2013 by rm8 Quote
efferman Posted March 29, 2013 Author Posted March 29, 2013 no, tank steering should not be an option. to narrow in relation to the length. by the way, the first running chassis is ready for making a small vid tomorrow 101_0413 von efferman auf Flickr Quote
Bzroom Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Brilliant diff solution! The chassis looks like a very reusable scale. Quote
Zerobricks Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Cool! Looks really compact. I just hope the CV's will hold, they are prone to pop out. Quote
efferman Posted March 30, 2013 Author Posted March 30, 2013 decide yourself btw, the vid has no speedup Quote
legomuppet9 Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 This looks to work really well, good job Quote
Tim S. Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 (edited) Looks very good! Great design and very compact. Well done. Tim Edited March 30, 2013 by Tim S. Quote
rm8 Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 Works very well. Looking forward to body building process:) Quote
efferman Posted March 30, 2013 Author Posted March 30, 2013 thanks guys i have finalized the chassis and i will make tomorrow an LDD file before i make the hard part with the body 101_0417 von efferman auf Flickr Quote
efferman Posted March 31, 2013 Author Posted March 31, 2013 (edited) here i have the ldd file for you. the new wheel hubs on the rear axle, the PF-L and the Servo are not existing and the 6l steering plates on the front axle i have not found. g63 von efferman auf Flickr p.s. without the motors the chassis is at the back not stable Edited March 31, 2013 by efferman Quote
rm8 Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 I will built your chassis! Dont you think that all weight is distributed to the back? What about placing servo motor at the front under the hood of model? Quote
efferman Posted March 31, 2013 Author Posted March 31, 2013 yes the main weight is near the rear axle, but the center of gravity is very low. to place the servo under the hood should not be a problem from technical point, but for design it would give some limitations. with the current setup there is nearly every body possible, for example something like your boss. so i have made the decission to mount it in the middle rear position. efferman Posted March 31, 2013 Author Posted March 31, 2013 (edited) two family photos to check the scale 101_0421 von efferman auf Flickr after seeing the second picture i have checked the dimensions of the U400 and the G. the result was a scale of 1:12 for the mog and 1:12,75 for the G. close enough? with the tires of the black cat the scale would fit perfect. but why they are so expensive? Edited March 31, 2013 by efferman Quote
jacobkristensen Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 (edited) Effe, why are your pneumatic cylinders placed so low, see my picture in the unimog thread, there you can see I have managed to fit them under the seats:-) Edited March 31, 2013 by jacobkristensen Quote
