legomuppet9 Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Performs really well off road, and it looks just right in that environment Quote
timslegos Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Looks much better with the solid body, nice work as usual. tim Quote

efferman Posted April 10, 2013 Author Posted April 10, 2013 starting the next thing. the goal is this picture source this will hopefully the second Axle the width of the truck will be 16 studs like my 7to mil gl Quote
timslegos Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Nice and compact, are you planning on adding any functions besides drive/steer? tim Quote
Edwin Korstanje Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 The axle looks like always great, but for building that collors on the body you must have painted your lego a lot Quote
Balrog Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 (edited) Efferman: This will be a great new project. I like the idea for your second steered axle. Though (perhaps it's just me) I think this will not work that way. How should the axles turn in the same direction? Or am I missing something here? Edit: Oh forget it. The big gears are idlers, right? So the steered axle isn't driven. The axle through frame and u-joints are for stability, right? Edit 2: Or is one idle and the other is not? And you have simply a fixed axle (no diff)? This really puzzles me right now. Edited April 11, 2013 by Balrog Quote
timslegos Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Edit 2: Or is one idle and the other is not? And you have simply a fixed axle (no diff)? This really puzzles me right now. You are correct, one of the gears is an idler and the other is attached to the axles, making the axle driven. tim Quote
cgg199 Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 One of the gears is an idler, the other isn't. The axle is steered and driven. Quote
skppo Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Nice and compact, are you planning on adding any functions besides drive/steer? tim I'm not sure but does the truck have outriggers? So prehaps those. I really like the sort of mid-scale you are going for. Which wheels are you going to use? Maybe you could post a picture with them to see the proportions of the axle better. Also is the logging truck completely abandoned? Quote
efferman Posted April 11, 2013 Author Posted April 11, 2013 (edited) no, the logging truck is simply waiting for the time when i want finish him. currently i have simply fun on other things. and yes the MAN has outriggers, because it has an small crane on the flatbed. edit: some progress on the front axles 100_0448 von efferman auf Flickr Edited April 11, 2013 by efferman Quote
timslegos Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 wow I never would have thought of using those new hubs in that way! tim Quote
Someonenamedjon Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 i like it, it looks very compact! can't wait for updates! Quote
Balrog Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Using the new hubs this way is pure genious. Now I am really anxious to see the complete chassis. Quote
D3K Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Is this the same truck as the FAUN heavy transporter/hauler of the Bundeswehr? The one they use to transport tanks and such? Quote
efferman Posted April 12, 2013 Author Posted April 12, 2013 (edited) no, the faun "elefant" has an different chassis to carry the load on roads and light terrain. beside of this the elefant is roundabout 2700mm wide, the Kat 2500 edit: a little experiment Edited April 12, 2013 by efferman Quote
Someonenamedjon Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 those springs look a bit wobbly, but i like the ideal! Quote
