i have tried several setups in timing the steps and every exception the 10178 timing was looking really funny. so i think every unsynhronized movement is not an good idea

the most stable way would be the following:

3 legs are on ground and moving with the same speed backward. the fourth leg is moving in the opposite direction with the foot in the air. this leg should move in a speed that it hits the ground, before the next leg loose the ground contact and moves forward.

unfortunately i dont have an idea to realize this with an mechanical solution

sorry but it seems that understanding of inglish is out of order when i read your last post. could you please describe it in other words?

If you gear three legs that are the same speed as each other, and then gear the last one differently (like what you said above) then will that not improve the steering of the walker?

Posted

Two more little suggestions:

1) What about using small LA's on each leg to increase the steering?

2)what about attaching some of the rubber connecters horizontal to the ground to stop the legs slipping.

Is an interesting mechanic challenge, would it work to use 1 motor for each pair of legs on one side and slow it down to make the turn?.

hm, with an 8 legged walker like some of the clone wars walkers should it work, but on a four legged? it needs to try to find it out.

1.) all leg steering? maybe this could give problems with the center of gravity

2.) good idea. i will try this in modifying the feet.

You have all ready improved the steering a lot,but maybe if you still require more responsive steering then it could be a option.

I am unsure what such a mechanism will do on the 'balancing side' of things.

i can not placed the motors and battery box at the current place. currently it is more or less well balanced. for all leg steering i must place the motors more in front and the battery box higher or/and more forward.

Ah,yet another good use for a PF micro-motor....

What about steering the back legs as well as the front ones?

I think you should try motorizing both front ones and rear ones independently.

If you find that there is a bit off misalignment between legs, you could always gear it up/down to synchronize the legs.

That would desynchronise the legs.

Add gearing....

nice idea, then a sound modul with a "wuff" and i can make them sit like a dog.

Lego do already make a roar sound brick.

Zblj your Dino is doing the moon walk. :head_back:

hi,

great mocs  .

But I've seen in the previous pages that for your logging truck, you have made a crane. If it's already build, can you post pics of the crane basement?

Posted

did you mean this cranebase?

i think i have finalized the steering mod

you can find the lxf file here

No, I didn't explain correctly, sorry

I'm talking about the part of the crane with LAs, if you see what I mean.

Really good AT-AT to  .

i have built a new chassis. same wheelbase and width, but two studs more ground clearance between the axles.

two pics

is it only my opinion or are these rims the perfect mercedes rims?

I used a very similar suspension setup on a small truck, except instead of using shock absorbers, I just put a single transverse torsion bar, and it worked very well.

ok, they are better than nothing, but please take a look at this picture

and why iam build so many times a chassis like a unimog?

Aha, you did use the unimogs portal axles for something!
