timslegos Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 With larger scales comes more weight, so it might be hard to build really big on only lego. i am looking forward to the progress. tim Quote
efferman Posted January 22, 2012 Author Posted January 22, 2012 (edited) what a true word. but where is the satisfaction when the challenge is too easy? edit: who is find a missing part? Edited January 22, 2012 by efferman Quote

efferman Posted January 23, 2012 Author Posted January 23, 2012 (edited) correct hmm if four pneumatic cylinders are enough to hold the load as a replacement part for the springs? in my head is buzzing a load sensed air suspension. edit: short proof of concept when the load on the cylinder is rising, it will compressed and pushs the valve to open. the compressor sends air through the valve in the cylinder and extends it, till the valve is in neutral position. when the load on the cylinder begins to decrease, the cylinder extends and opens the valve to the atmosphere. the cylinder will be compressed to the neutral position of the valve. is there enough pressure in the cylinder it will stay in this position. when not the cylinder will be more compressed, the valve will open and the cylinder will extend to the neutral position. timslegos Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 that is a cool concept but i dont see how it would be beneficial in a model. Would you mind explaining? tim Quote
efferman Posted January 23, 2012 Author Posted January 23, 2012 imagine a empty flatbed without height regulation. it is on ride height. then imagine the same flatbed with load. the cops will stop you and give you a ticket because overloading now imagine a flatbed with load sensed height regulation. maybe its, overloaded, but the cops cant see it and have no reason to stop you. on the moc the reason is: it is possible Quote
Robert M Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Thats a really good though Effe, and like how it works. Will it be possible to make it smaller to fit into the scale? Or is it already the size it needs to be? Must be pretty huge if you plan to have the Unimog on the bed. Looking good anyway, must be the first thread I look at when logging in. Quote
KopMaister Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 that is a cool concept but i dont see how it would be beneficial in a model. Would you mind explaining? tim it's for the boogie axle :P when there is enough weight on the truck it will lower the axle that sits in the very rear of the truck :P sorry for my bad english there! T_Tank Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Seams like you may be fallowing in the footsteps of other large truck designers if you go with adjustable air suspension with load sensing valves very cool :D Quote
Tobbe Arnesson Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Looking good so far! load sensed air suspension Hey, neat! Quote
tduby Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 This is exactly how load sensing valves work in real trucks of course they use a threaded rod to more accurately adjust hieght of the bed but its the same concept. this big truck you are building looks awesome so far. Quote
efferman Posted January 24, 2012 Author Posted January 24, 2012 Robert M, yes it will be big. i hope i have enough 5x11 panels for the flatbed. dont worry , the 8109 xl will go on, but in between a little finger exercise. The attentive reader of this forum will know whats the goal. Quote
tduby Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 what is the "L" shaped piece with a curved section you use between the 2 axles from that looks really usefull Quote
kristl Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Looks like you're trying to motorize the 8264. Quote

Crtlego Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 I could be wrong.. But I think that piece is simply a technic triangle. Quote
efferman Posted January 25, 2012 Author Posted January 25, 2012 kristl you are right 100 points for the candidate I could be wrong.. But I think that piece is simply a technic triangle. i think he meant my big one Quote
Paul Boratko Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Eff, could you send me a picture that you would like me to use for a link for your models...? pb3@crowkillers.com Quote
tduby Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 thanks very much I give you allmy internets for the day Quote
Burf2000 Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Just saying, some guys make HUGE things. Efferman, I order you to make HUGER things!! Ya, those are all power puller wheels. Here is a link to Steen's BS. This is one of my favourite models of all time Quote
Saberwing40k Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Robert M, yes it will be big. i hope i have enough 5x11 panels for the flatbed. dont worry , the 8109 xl will go on, but in between a little finger exercise. The attentive reader of this forum will know whats the goal. oh look, it's another trial truck. this should be good. by the way, is the unimog G still in progress? i would really like to see it. efferman Posted January 25, 2012 Author Posted January 25, 2012 (edited) by the way, is the unimog G still in progress? i would really like to see it. currently not. models which can only drive and steer are currently to boring for me. maybe later as the base for a 9395 XL. the hauler experiment is interesting because it is in fact to small to get allwheel drive and make it full RC. Paul Boratko, which size should have the picture? something like this? edit: Edited January 25, 2012 by efferman Quote
timslegos Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 edit: definitely a r/c version of the Lego hauler. i don't know the set number though. tim Quote
efferman Posted January 27, 2012 Author Posted January 27, 2012 currently the flatbed is roundabout five panels plus 6 studs wide and 7 panels and 2 studs long. more doesnt fit in my photobox 1 or 2 rows of panels it should be longer to fit to my goal knew someone the price for black 5x11 panels @ lego direct? i think in black the flatbed would look better Quote
