dhc6twinotter Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Both the scraper and boat look great! Very nice job building the hull of the boat. I like that. Quote
Rishab N Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 That's impressive! Can't wait to see its performance! Quote
efferman Posted March 4, 2014 Author Posted March 4, 2014 thanks guys. a vid in open water will come next days, even when water is still very cold btw, better photos both propellers are coupled together and driven by a single Buggy motor. the steering works with a PF-M on each propeller. the weight is roundabout at 3 kg and the center of gravity is at the end of the exhaust pipes. Pat-Ard Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Very nice, can't wait to see it swim... Which parts did you take for the heli deck? Quote
efferman Posted March 4, 2014 Author Posted March 4, 2014 you can see it swim here, but the waterline needs some tuning the parts for the heli deck is from a minifig space set, something with green aliens. to be exact it is this part http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?itemID=74902&colorID=11 Quote
Pat-Ard Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 Oh yes, the waterline needs some tuning, shouldn't be a big problem... Thanks for the link... Quote
skriblez Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 This is cool. Really looking forward to the video :) Quote
Edwin Korstanje Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 (edited) Maybe you can make a third boathul in the middel of the bow, instead the 3 float boxes . I now that the most weight is at the wheelhouse and proposul and the bow and to level it strait it must have some extra weight at the back. It's looking promissing so far Effe Edited March 4, 2014 by VFracingteam Quote
efferman Posted March 4, 2014 Author Posted March 4, 2014 I dont want more weight, so i have moved the containers backward and removed the heli platform. And i have placed three closed airtanks under the bow. If this is not enough i can mount the float boxes one or two studs deeper , then it should float horizontally. Quote
D3K Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 The boat looks great! Soon to be an engineer in the field of marine technology, I find the Voith Schneider system very fascinating! Quote
efferman Posted March 5, 2014 Author Posted March 5, 2014 ok, a single buggy motor has not enough power for propulsion this thing. a change to a XL is necessary Quote
unimog123 Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Why not try 2 L motors? It's a little bigger, but you'll have just about the same amount of torque and start out at 200 RPMs instead of about a 100 RPMs. Quote
efferman Posted March 5, 2014 Author Posted March 5, 2014 (edited) the size of the PF-L is not a problem and absolutely not the power. i only need a indicator where is the thrust direction Edited March 5, 2014 by efferman Quote
Zerobricks Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Looks great :) Remind me how did you make it float? Quote
efferman Posted March 6, 2014 Author Posted March 6, 2014 (edited) on the back i have used the boat hulls from my harbour tug and on the front 3 of these boxes Edited March 6, 2014 by efferman Quote
efferman Posted April 29, 2014 Author Posted April 29, 2014 Because finally my new portal parts are arrived, i hve made a quick axle to test them. the trackwidth is the same like 8110, but now there is an 13L gearrack for steering possible. The Ackerman ngeometry is with actually setup very small in relation to standard methods in lego axles. here it can be adjusted by the height of steering rack. is ikt on height of the u-joint the wheels turning paralell. is it above of the u-joint the rack can be placed in front of the axle, down below it should placed behind the axle. 100_1153 von efferman auf Flickr Quote
Cumulonimbus Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Looks good, I'm very interested in your findings once it is built in the 8110 and how it will affect the handling of the Unimog. Will the steering be smoother and require less force? Does the camber mean it will have a self-centering characteristic? I'm eager to find out. Quote
efferman Posted April 29, 2014 Author Posted April 29, 2014 to see if it made the steering more easy first i have to built the 8110. My U400 completely different, but why not, i have enough parts. the self centering should be possible, but i think the drivetrain of the 8110 steering needs to much force for it. it is simply to long. efferman Posted April 30, 2014 Author Posted April 30, 2014 ok, no 8110 chassis and yes, the panhard rod is still missing Quote
Pat-Ard Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Hi efferman, that looks really very very good an promising. But you use some real special and I think rare parts - some of them I've never seen before... Pat Quote
efferman Posted April 30, 2014 Author Posted April 30, 2014 these are from the bionicle theme. the theme itself was nothing for me, but some of the parts are very usefull for technic. Quote
Pat-Ard Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Yes, they look quite usefull... But I hope there'll be a possibility to substitute them... Quote
