Nope, correctly understood. But I understand this is a special challenge to construct, because of

a) space in uppercarriage

b) aligning the outriggers so they still provide diagonal support.

I think the approach could produce very interesting and challenging results.

lets think about what happens when the turntable is between the chassis and the uppercarriage, and the outriggers are mounted to the uppercarriage.

The outriggers will be pushed down to stabilize the crane. the crane is lifting the payload and the additional weight of the payload is pushing the stabilizers more to the ground.

how the boom could rotate? stabilizers with wheels?

I don't think that it would work if the uppercarriage could really rotate when the stabilizers are deployed. I didn't think about that before. It would work if the stabilizers somehow "rotate" around the uppercarriage, but that would pose similar problems as with stabilizers in the chassis. Hm ... forget my idea please

Thanks for sharing Effy  Whyn you will be building this beasty make sure to turn the H frames on the axles in such way that the diff doesnt touch them (groves). The model looks just foxing maassive! Oh I would also reinforce the damper support a bit on the upper, chassis side.

Very impressive build ... One question though (apologies if it has been asked already). Why such custom wheels? Are you planning some third party tires?

hopefully the contest is not really a simple body shell contest, because this 1954 pickup is my idea for the contest.so be patient, more pics from the full moc will not come till the contest begins.

Efferman, it seems as if this suspension is actually used in real life...https://www.google.com/search?rls=com.microsoft%3Aen-US%3AIE-Address&tbm=isch&q=sliding%20block%20rear%20suspension&revid=1547902220&ei=lwZ6VPeHJfSHsQSh94Eg&ved=0CCMQsyU&biw=1280&bih=599
