Imanol BB Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 now it seems like one of those heavy tow trucks, maybe you could try to do something like this: Quote
efferman Posted October 2, 2015 Author Posted October 2, 2015 yes, this tow truck is really an option. btw, ih ave improved the hood and the grille opinions? Quote
Milan Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 Its nice, but I would like it more if it was a Scania. Mercedes just does not fit with nose trucks. Quote
efferman Posted October 2, 2015 Author Posted October 2, 2015 Freightliner is using Mercedes Cabs with bonnets like these on medium trucks, so why not an heavy version for australian highways? Quote
MaxSupercars Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 Scania fits better also for me... Effe when I saw you picture I thought also that you build Scania... :) Max... Quote
efferman Posted October 3, 2015 Author Posted October 3, 2015 Scania? later maybe to check the proportions i have built a short frame. maybe the lowest grille row is to much. 100_1559 by Michael Wirth, auf Flickr Quote
MaxSupercars Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 (edited) Yes... the lowest part of grill is to much... remove the lowest row... Don't you want to use other headlights than Arocs style? I would place down only massive front bumper and headlights above it... Max... Edited October 3, 2015 by MaxSupercars Quote
N-4K0 Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 I too would recommend you to remove the lowest grille row, at least try to see how it looks without it. Quote
zux Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 I would say I like that oversized grille, looks uncommon and pretty. Quote
Imanol BB Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 So far, this truck seems very nice, and futuristic in some way, but maybe you could try to put a bigger bumper and put smaller lights, to see if it gets a more "agressive" look, however it seems very good. Quote
efferman Posted October 4, 2015 Author Posted October 4, 2015 Thanks guys for the suggestions, It seems to be much better now 100_1561 by Michael Wirth, auf Flickr Quote
MaxSupercars Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 (edited) Yesss... it looks way better and more realistic... Just the windscreen looks a little bit to big... (when compared to US trucks) I don't know... :) Max... Edited October 4, 2015 by MaxSupercars Quote
efferman Posted October 4, 2015 Author Posted October 4, 2015 (edited) well, there are some modern US Longnose trucks with a large windscreen. Update: The Bumper is now solid and a compact straight six fake engine is installed LXF for the straight six 100_1564 by Michael Wirth, auf Flickr edit: the steering system. The red parts are placeholders for parts which will hopefully arrive tomorrow 100_1567 by Michael Wirth, auf Flickr Edited October 4, 2015 by efferman Quote
Imanol BB Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 amazing, that steering system reminds me a truck i was trying to make in LDD, that failed, but your version seems that will work very well, also i like the new front look, it seems very good. Quote
TheItalianBrick Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Efferman can I suggest something for the steering? As real trucks why don't you simply use a 3X lever to push/pull the steering link? I've used it in my Man TGS and save a lot of space! Quote
efferman Posted October 5, 2015 Author Posted October 5, 2015 something like this? Sure, it has its advantages, unfortunately at this place is the doorstep ladder and the actuating of the lever will be a little bit hard Quote
TheItalianBrick Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Exactly. I'm using something similar and works well. Hope you can find the space to use the same solution. Maybe using the shorter steering link? ( 6L ) bytheway love your engine!!!!!!! Quote
efferman Posted October 5, 2015 Author Posted October 5, 2015 Sometimes the real trucks deliver the best solution. In Real trucks hydraulic actuators are used for servo steering and i had a few miutes ago the idea to use a small actuator to move the lever. Thanks to italianBrick for this idea. This makes adding a second steered axle much easier 100_1570 by Michael Wirth, auf Flickr Quote
TheItalianBrick Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 You did exactly what I did! Mini La that power both levers...so was easy to have a double steered axle!! Great job Effe! keep building this beauty!! Quote
efferman Posted October 5, 2015 Author Posted October 5, 2015 you should really publish your models. Thy hyster forkliftg is so alone on your webpage Quote
TheItalianBrick Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Effe I wish I had more time! The 8X8 leafspring Man TGS it's coming...believe me! And all the big cranes aswell...but I don't have much time to build unfortunately!! Anyway I promise I'll speed up and finish it soon!! Quote
Kman860 Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 I LOVE THIS IDEA! I've been trying to figure out how to do something like this. Thank you. Quote
MaxSupercars Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 (edited) Effe and TheItalianBrick the steering with small LAs is quite powerful but little bit to slow... Or you gear it up to make it faster? Max... Edited October 6, 2015 by MaxSupercars Quote
efferman Posted October 6, 2015 Author Posted October 6, 2015 indeed, i have seen this on my K100. Unfortunately the parts which iam ordered are in a postal center 5km away and i have to wait till tommorrow to test how good the steering works Quote
